The U.S. isn't as big as we might like to think.

And so is Russia. Don't forget that most of its land is uninhabited.

I can't see Russia and China winning as their ally wouldn't last long enough for that.

No, all the Superpowers don't want to fight .
We have these cold wars just to keep our citizens in check and it allows everybody to spend big bucks to build up their militaries which is good for the economy.

It would really depend on the  incident as to what factions or alliances would emerge. Frankly though, if World War III broke out tomorrow, it is almost inevitable that the US would get involved, and any side with the US and its allies would certainly have the edge, even with conventional military warfare.

United States and NATO will win the 3rd world war for sure! Think about it guys, they are real meaning of power.

It wouldn't be a world war if the U.S. were not involved. However, the U.S. could conceivably not win. The evidence is seen how many times a weaker, underdog wins something.

Right now, the fiat money system is extremely close to collapse. If it did collapse, the whole money system of the world would change. And the largest change would happen in the U.S., because the USD is the dominant fiat currency, and would be affected the most.

In addition:

Russian Navy’s “aggressive” activity near underwater cables worries US

Russian Ships Near Data Cables Are Too Close for U.S. Comfort

If there happened to be war right now, Russian ships would probably blast the cables to nothingness, so that the whole U.S. NATO alliance would be impacted in a negative way.

The U.S. isn't as big as we might like to think.

I don't know who will win WW3 but I know that in WW4 we will fight with stones only, because our civilization will be destroyed in WW3.
So, because of this, I really don't care who will win WW3, because WW3 will be the end of our world, not a new beginning.

Wrong. That's because WW4 won't happen for several hundred years at least, following WW3. It will take this long to build up the equipment from the knowledge that will have been retained in the archives.

Russian submarines and spy ships are aggressively operating near the vital undersea cables that carry almost all global Internet communications, raising concerns among some American military and intelligence officials that the Russians might be planning to attack those lines in times of tension or conflict.

There will be a WWIII. A branch of the Power Elite will win, and will become the ruler of mankind for a short time. Then Jesus will return, and bring true righteousness and peace to and among all people.

Smiley

nope... Vod will come and hands out negative trust for anyone participating in it...

However, if you are serious in what you say, rather than simply jesting, at the time of His returning, Jesus will put you (and Vod) in your place. How can He do this? Jesus reads minds, and He has the ability to focus on each person individually, and He carries the power of God with Himself.

Nobody knows for a fact how long it will be until WWIII really takes place. But it is written, and it will happen, and the return of Jesus will follow it.

If there's a WW3, only the ants, rats, and roaches win. Humanity loses.

How would they win exactly? Every war the nature is polluted more and more. Every animals, insects, trees get affected from this human-disaster.

It’s On: Obama Sends Destroyer To Chinese Islands, China Vows Military Response

October 26th, 2015

For anyone who might still be somehow unaware, the US is currently in a superpower staring match with both Russia and China. The conflict in Syria has put Moscow back on the geopolitical map (so to speak), creating an enormous amount of tension with Washington whose regional allies have been left to look on in horror as Russian airstrikes and an Iranian ground incursion dash hopes of ousting President Bashar al-Assad.

Meanwhile, in The South China Sea, Beijing has built 3,000 acres of new sovereign territory atop reefs in the Spratlys and although the reclamation effort itself isn’t unique, the scope of it most certainly is and Washington’s friends in the South Pacific are crying foul.

Beijing has continually insisted that it doesn’t intend to use the islands as military outposts, but the construction of runways and ports seems to tell a different story and so, Washington felt compelled to check things out over the summer by sending a Poseidon spy plane complete with a CNN crew to the area. Once the PLA spotted the plane the situation escalated quickly with the Chinese Navy telling US pilots to “Go Now!”

After that, an intense war of words developed with Defense Secretary Ash Carter insisting that the US would sail and fly anywhere it pleased and Beijing assuring the US that sailing within 12 nautical miles of the islands would prompt a harsh response from the PLA.

For weeks, the US was rumored to have been planning a freedom of navigation exercise in the Spratlys which, as we’ve pointed out several times this month, amounts to sailing by the islands just to see if China will shoot.

Now, according to CNN, Obama has given the green light and the ships may sail within 24 hours:

And more from FT:

The US navy is poised to start freedom of navigation operations in the South China Sea in a high-stakes effort to push back against Chinese territorial claims over artificial islands in the disputed waters.

In a move that will enrage Beijing, the USS Lassen, a guided-missile destroyer, will sail inside the 12-nautical mile zones of two man-made islands — Subi and Mischief reefs — that China has built in the contested Spratly Island chain. A senior US defence official said it would sail through the area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

China has repeatedly warned that it would not tolerate any effort to violate what it considers its territory. Earlier this month, a senior Chinese naval officer said the People’s Liberation Army would hand a “head-on blow” to any foreign forces that violated Chinese sovereignty. His comments came after the Financial Times reported that the US was poised to launch its operations.

The manoeuvre will mark the first time since 2012 that the US navy has sailed through the 12-nautical mile zone surrounding any islands claimed by China. It is aimed at demonstrating that Washington does not recognise any territorial claims over artificial islands in the South China Sea.

It’s also worth noting that should the US manage to get away with this without sparking a shooting war with the Chinese, it now looks as though Washington is leaning toward making this a regular patrol. Here’s a bit of color from Reuters out over the weekend:

A range of security experts said Washington’s so-called freedom of navigation patrols would have to be regular to be effective, given Chinese ambitions to project power deep into maritime Southeast Asia and beyond.

“This cannot be a one-off,” said Ian Storey, a South China Sea expert at Singapore’s Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.

“The U.S. navy will have to conduct these kinds of patrols on a regular basis to reinforce their message.”

But China would likely resist attempts to make such U.S. actions routine, some said, raising the political and military stakes. China’s navy could for example try to block or attempt to surround U.S. vessels, they said, risking an escalation.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this borders on the insane. Here we have both Washington and Beijing risking an outright military confrontation over what amount to a couple of sandcastles and while there’s probably some truth to the contention that China has plans for the islands that go beyond growing plants, building lighthouses, and raising pigs, it’s not as though the PLA is going to invade The Philippines so at the end of the day, this looks like another example of what Vladimir Putin recently suggested is evidence that the world is losing its collective mind.

None would win
If its really a world war, then I think its overwhelmingly likely we will see the collapse of civilization as we know it, if not the end of human life on the planet.  Start with the disruption of world oil traffic and world food traffic and knock down the energy grid ...

Dr. Strangelove (Gen. Philip Breedlove) is Naked

by PEPE ESCOBAR

The whole Global South is now informed about how the Russian campaign in Syria has swiftly smashed all of ‘Exceptionalistan’s’ elaborate plans for a “Greater Middle East.”

These plans span everything from the Wolfowitz Doctrine to Dr. Zbig “Grand Chessboard” Brzezinski’s categorical imperative of preventing the emergence of a strategic competitor across Eurasia.

But the subtext is even more intriguing: The Pentagon never saw it coming. And they are absolutely terrified of the inevitable consequences.

The panic was palpable, as relayed by Dr. Strangelove, sorry, NATO’s top commander Gen. Philip Breedlove, a.k.a. Breedlove/hate, the man who announces every week Russia is invading Ukraine.

Although proverbially handicapped in his geopolitical analysis – Russia wants to hinder US and “coalition” operations in the region – Breedlove/hate is clearly puzzled by the new, unforeseen, intricate layers of Russia’s defense network.

In his own words: “We’re a little worried about another A2/AD bubble being created in the eastern Mediterranean.”

In Pentagonese, A2/AD means anti-access/area denial.

Translation: a mix of surface-to-air missiles and anti-ship missiles that can be deployed to prevent any player from entering or crossing a certain area.

Breedlove/hate goes as far as to admit this is Russia’s “third denial zone” around Europe. The first is in the Baltics – via the Kaliningrad base. The second – based in Crimea – covers the Black Sea. In his own words: “Their cruise missiles range the entire Black Sea, and their air defense missiles range about 40 to 50 percent of the Black Sea.”

He is convinced the deployment of these “very sophisticated air defense capabilities” is not about purging Syria from the Salafi-jihadi constellation. It’s about “something else.”

And the point about “something else” is that the Pentagon knows it, but cannot possibly admit it publicly. Neocons and neoliberalcons at best can transform their apoplexy into vociferous demands for a mega-upgraded Pentagon budget, or to force Obama into keeping troops in Afghanistan indefinitely – as if any informed observer would doubt there would never be an exit.
Here is just a sample of how the battlefield has been completely redrawn.

But the real game-changer, once again, has been the show-stopping performance of the 26 Kalibr-NK cruise missiles launched by the Russian Caspian fleet against 11 Salafi-jihadi targets 1,500 km away, destroying them all.

Breedlove/hate cannot possibly admit the Caspian cruise “message” was directed at NATO. The Kalibr-NK flew over both Iran and Iraq, at a maximum altitude of 100 meters – not to mention speeding by a US drone.

Translation: this spells out the absolute irrelevance of all – multibillion – elaborate plans for missile defense deployed in Eastern Europe. Remember, those US missiles which would be deployed against the “Iranian threat”.

NATO is also terrified that all its state-of-the-art C4i software – command, control, communications, computer, intelligence – has been totally jammed by Russian technology, all across Syria and southern Turkey. Essentially, reduced to sitting ducks. Imagine a similar, much amplified scenario in a hypothetic war on European soil over Ukraine which neocons never cease to itch for.

We have A2/AD too

No wonder these military breakthroughs translate, in terms of public opinion, into fabulous PR for Russia. Just check Putin the Hajji in Iraq. Incidentally, if one really wants to know how ‘Exceptionalistan’ destroyed Iraq in the first place – creating the conditions for the rise of Al-Qaeda in Iraq and then ISIS/ISIL/Daesh – might as well ditch Claire Danes in Homeland and check out: Iraq Year Zero, by Abbas Fahdel, which hits the screen in France next year.

As for the non-stop uproar in US corporate media, if this is the best  American ‘Putinologists’ can come up with it, the Kremlin certainly does not need enemies.

Meanwhile, in the economic front, Russian domestic oil demand is growing. What this means is Russia is slowly but surely shifting from an import economy to a manufacturing center, replacing US and EU imports, moving towards self-sufficiency and focusing on domestic credit expansion for productive investments. The military breakthroughs are a “don’t mess with us” message inbuilt in a complex economic transformation process.

In addition, Chinese oil imports grew 8 percent for January through September year over year – especially in the petrochemical and transport sectors, outweighing any apparent slowdown in the use of industrial oil. Next week comes the crucial announcement of the next Chinese five-year plan. No, China is not crashing, as much as the China-Russia strategic partnership keeps expanding.

Beijing is following in close detail the “messages” sent by Russia in Syria. And don’t forget that in the A2/AD department, China has its own set of messages, including the bunker-busting DF15B, the DF-16 with a 1,000 kilometer range, and the DF-21D “carrier killer” – 2,500 kilometer range and capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

Expect many a naked lunch between Dr. Strangelove and his masters in the Beltway.

Times change and it´s unlikely that a world war now would start in a similar manner as those of 75 and 100 years ago. Which means that it could already have started only is so far in a low intensity state so to speak. Both as actual combat and also less visible operations which we hear little or nothing about, for example cyber warfare. It could be a more gradual process nowadays.

Maybe in the future when historians decide the start date of WW3 after the fact (that´s what historians do) it´ll end up being 9/11 2001, only time will tell.
