If indeed your father feels anxious and unsure, I think it's best to sell even at a lower price. Because no one can ensure the price of Bitcoin will rise again, maybe the price of bitcoin will actually go down even further. That is why if there really is a need that must be fulfilled and afraid of the risk of loss that is greater, then in my opinion it is best to sell the bitcoin that your father has from being a burden of thought which ultimately makes your father stressful later on.

If he bought his bitcoin at $18k-$20k price then he has the right to be anxious  Grin. Well, he has no other choice if he wants to recover his loses but to hodl and wait. Though it cannot guaranty him to recover it in holding but at least there could be a chance unlike if he sells it now his lose will be sure and there will be no chance for him to recover it back. All investment is risky and it is compared to gambling too, so no pain, no gain. Better lose in trying than lose in not trying at all

Anxiety is brought upon by stress so if youre stressing the price of Bitcoin, this is where your anxiety is coming from.
For a person to buy Bitcoin at a price of, for example, 5,000$ and now see the price around 3,500$, you can become anxious to when you will recover your money.
This is very common in investing or the little investing I do.  But its a feeling that is difficult to avoid especially in the crypto market.

We all know that Bitcoin prices have dropped sharply after a fairly high price increase at the end of 2017, and until now there has not been a surge in price increases that can exceed the highest price Bitcoin has ever reached. If your father really thinks of avoiding the risk of a greater loss, then he wants to sell it, so I think that is something to do because no one can ensure that bitcoin will rise again the price is much higher than the previous price seeing the market situation this time. But if your father still has confidence in Bitcoin, you should wait for the first quarter of this year, maybe the price of bitcoin will rise and your father can avoid the risk of loss from the investment he made.
Market keeps on moving ups and downs, it seems to be very uncontrollable. It's very important that we are aware, knowledgeable, and well-educated about its nature, so we will be able to learn how to deal with its trend wisely and strategically. Feeling anxious is a normal feeling but don't let it distract you too much, don't be too affected with it because it doesn't help at all. It only hinders productivity and success. Take a look at the brighter side and don't lose hope.

I don’t blame when people felt anxious about the market condition and low prices. It is a normal reaction as long as it doesn’t cause panic selling. Apparently bitcoin holders will have to wait very long time. I’m also one of them, i didn’t sell it.

Being anxious can cause serious problem in the long run if not treated  and the wors part is that it can lead to panic selling  .  so why not blame those who panic sell ?  They are the reason why bitcoin is dropping like a bomb  .  we must do something to combat this epidemic  . we need to save btc before its to late  .

I'm worried because it's hard to guess. I'm worried because I think the reliability is diminishing every day. I'm worried because a new crypto can replace BTC.

Btc is hard guess even before when it first came out , due to its high volatility but you dont need to worry that much because its normal  .  btc can be fine soon .   so far btc is still the king and it cannot be replace so easily

My father is anxious pertaining to the fall and rise in bitcoin price. He has four(4) btc and he is afraid to hodl. He wants to sell at a lower rate. Any advice for him?
I think it all depends on what purpose he pursues. Based on this, there are different options:
1. Constantly trade their bitcoins. Sell at a higher price, buy back at a lower price. This option requires a lot of knowledge, effort, time, experience and skills.
2. Just hold your bitcoins, but he need to set a goal, that is, at what price he wants to sell it. Until the price reaches the desired point, don't even worry. This is a successful strategy that doesn't require any special knowledge and effort.
3. Sell  bitcoins at a loss and then regret it. Especially in 3-5 years, when the price of bitcoin rises to unimaginable values.

Since I do daily trading and make profit on this, my advice would be to study trading and start trading.
But a person doesn’t always want to do it, so I consider holding as the second acceptable option.
The third option, in the situation with bitcoin, I consider stupid and unacceptable.
But let your father make the decision.

I do long term investments and I an considering about my self as a bitcoin trustee but even I feel it is very easy for any one to doubt but some does that unnecessarily and make decisions by panicking which makes negative effects on both the market and them self in vain  and that is why most of the time bitcoin prices move down even it is doing great than in the past and everyone should understand bitcoin has recover many times after dropping in price and specially in this time when everything is working in bitcoins favor definitely there will be a positive trend for bitcoin

i think he shouldn't sell at thi time. i think the price will higher in next month

Sorry to say but there is no grantee that price will be up in feburary. There was one hope that ETF will be approved on 27 Feb, that too is now gone as there will be no etf this year.
Many holders of bitcoin including the OP are really in fear as they think that bitcoin will fell even from 3000$ mark and it will be the star of very long bear market.

Hey you’re right Bitcoins prices are not guaranteed, but I don’t feel one should sell at current levels rather I would advise to buy and hodl at current levels. I’ll agree the Etf news was bad, but it was a logical move and the entire blame goes to the shutdown of the USA government. I don’t feel prices shall fall below 3k levels, we may see a rally if it crosses 4K and above levels.

Doesn't matter anyone become anxious and it is due to the market condition which shakes even experienced investors but the truth is no other currency in the crypto world can face and also survive that bitcoin has faced and I think there are major reasons why it has the capability to do that and one is the demand or power it has gained as the first digital currency in the world and another reason is bitcoin enthusiast because for any currency to be alive there should be users and without that no currency can continue and even bitcoin lost considerable amount of potential holders still there are many users from the beginning until now and that helped bitcoin a lot to survive with these restrictions or barriers and that is why it will continue to hold

Tell your father that nothing to worry and teach that bitcoin is the fittest among all digital currencies and there are more than enough evidence to believe that Bitcoin market is recovering but it will take more time than we expect to come to a certain level because the drop was much higher than any other time but there are many evidence to believe that it will recover in the future so any investor today can certainly invest with confidence to make remarkable profits in the future but patience and courage is significant until the end

I would say that advice your dad not to sell them now because the ship has already left. The price has already dumped so hard that now would be a very bad time to sell.
There is no guarantee because it can be even worse after this but as an optimistic I believe bitcoin will survive in the long run and recover the price in a few years.
The best thing to do would be to keep on holding the coins if there is no problem in doing so. If there is an emergency or a need for fiat only then sell the bitcoins.

Of course your father should keep holding bitcoin. There's no reason to sell it now at such a low price, because such a drop is not the end of the technology. It still has a great prospect for growth and that is why I advise you to continue to keep your coins.

Investors are anxious because we saw a huge drop in last year and most of the time bitcoin will progress in this year but I hope the holders won't make decisions by panicking in these days which makes negative effects on both the market and them self in vain  and that is why most of the time bitcoin prices move down even it is doing great than in the past and everyone should understand bitcoin has recover many times after dropping in price and specially in this time when everything is working in bitcoins favor definitely there will be a positive trend for bitcoin so abundening in today means loosing the profits that can gain in the near future so doubt will never do good for the bitcoin market or the investor

Becoming anxious is natural because bitcoin has a high volatility than any other trading asset in the financial world but I don't see a significant reason to worry about its future because now only it has started to recover and progress than in the past and I say that because few years back bitcoin was just a trading asset for greedy people who used to make quick money and nothing productive was done using it but now if you search the internet there are many options and facilities to use or pay using bitcoin and that is strong evidence that it is going in a successful path and that is why your father needs to hold his bitcoin for some time to make a considerable income

It is common for any one to doubt and 4 BTC is a considerable amount so it is ok to become anxious but some does that unnecessarily and make decisions by panicking which makes negative effects on both the market and them self in vain  and that is why most of the time bitcoin prices move down even it is doing great than in the past and everyone should understand bitcoin has recover many times after dropping in price and specially in this time when everything is working in bitcoins favor definitely there will be a positive trend for bitcoin so abundening in today means loosing the profits that can gain in the near future so doubt will never do good for the bitcoin market or the investor

So your father needs to hold his bitcoin and don't need to sell at lower rate. But maybe your father can try to trade with 0.5 btc pair altcoin or usdt so he can have an opportunity to increase his bitcoin. I think that is an option for your father while he is waiting for the bitcoin price to rise again to the high price. I think it's better to do trading rather than just to hold his bitcoin and don't make anything.

The thing is, if your father is anxious about his 4 btc's he's probably going to be more anxious if he tries to trade some of that in the alt market where the volatility could be worse. If he doesn't need to sell for any important reason, i'd say try to get his attention to other things. Selling at a loss is definitely not the best option.

When he bought his 4 bitcoins? If at a very high price - the solution is one: to hold Bitcoin until the moment when it will be again profitable.
If your father bought bitcoins at an average or low price and the loss is not so big, then let him sell half of them, so it will be quieter.

It is a natural response for anybody to fear loses. It is a good option to sell if your btc is really needed at the moment but if not and you are not afraid to lose you can just hold it no matter what. If your father can wait for longer time then there is nothing to be afraid of. For sure it will be up in price 5 years from now or maybe 10 years after. But if not then I may suggest to sell it he can't hold it for long.
