Lack of knowledge is a fact. Once they've seen people making off it, they won't do research on how exactly these people made money.

From my opinion, people are not able to talk with those scammers face to face thus only from the words they wrote on the internet, it's hard to tell if they are true or not. Also, scammers are from all over the world, so they are not like people who live near you, they will lure you with high return investment or project, once they got your money easily, they default easily. The cost to scam on the internet is very low.

I think that its easy to scam people everywhere! How many times we have seen that in the past? Do you know who is Ponzi, and why ponzi scheme have that name? I believe that some people believe that they are smarter than others and can just come to any project and earn money in it, while not having knowledge and skills. This self-confidence often leads them to fraudulent projects. I personally know several cases when they turned to me for advice and I said that this was a fraud suggestion and even provided evidence. People told me thanks for the information and still went to this scam. After they lost money, they came again and complained that they had lost money. So it turns out that they think that they are the smartest and now quickly earn for free. But as the practice shows, they lose money very quickly.
Well.. I am someone who got scammed multiple times in the internet. Back then, I was too young and my mistake was that I used to blindly trust strangers. I lost a lot of money, but even then I am glad that I learnt a few lessons in my life as a result of these scams. I took each one of these scams as a lesson. And made sure not to repeat them in my life thereafter. And I am glad to say that no one has managed to scam me for the last 4-5 years.

The scammer will not stop, always looking for a gap / effort to find the next victim. the internet is the best place or platform for scammers, as reported by wikipedia [1] "in 2017 the Internet Crime Complaints Center (IC3) received around 300,000 complaints". woww that's not a small number and at this time scammers are turning to crypto, so it's becoming a trend right now. I agree with the OP, which is the factor of greed and it is difficult to avoid, because in reality it is pure human nature, but at least we can reduce the nature of it.
one way to minimize undesirable events is that we must be aware of greed. no sudden rich words, everything needs a process and must want effort from scratch.

People get scammed because many of them is greedy and for that reason they make a wrong decisions, fast decisions for a fast money.
I am always attentive to details and still once fell for the fraudster's deception and gave him 500$. No one is ever safe from this, you can get caught on any stupid little thing.
More and more scammers are developing because new investors have also begun to emerge. This is the right target for scammers to launch their actions by making SCAM projects with high profits. New investors who are greedy and don't do research in advance will get into their trap. Aside from greed, ignorance is also the lethal flaw of some people in this industry. They tend to trust a project so easily because they are ignorant to what the project really is. I am not just talking about the legitimacy of the project in terms of the reliability of the dev team. I want to also point out that when you invest in a project, you should also share their vision and mission, not just to gain profit.
We are to be blame for any action we take on the internet, i don't expect people to trust others easily since you can't see them physically, i don't expect people to look for easy money because they will only lead to their doom, greed should be put aside and make your profits worth the work done
making mistakes like this should be remembered and not to allow repeating it again and again, trusting someone you don't really knows is a mistake that mostly being committed by many people around the net, leading them to become victims of scams and hacks.
