I've a friend of mine who always complain that ever since he started gambling he haven't won a good amount, instead he'll be winning less money than what he expected but he can't stop. So I'm asking what do you suggest he should do at this case. For me I told him that he should know that gambling it's a game of risk and luck, but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.
Why would you say that? What is the guarantee for that happening? This will only make him spend more money on gambling and will probably lose it all again because as you said he has been losing mostly. You should tell him to be moderate with his bets and gambling so that he doesn't lose a lot of money because there is nothing wrong with him trying his luck with a small amount each time but he shouldn't aim for high wins by spending a lot of money.

Gamblers who keep losing constantly need to take a break from gambling and get their minds refreshed, and they should come again after some time and start anew. I know this doesn't change their luck but it will at least take the frustration out of their minds and they might gamble with a more positive mindset and might be able to control their anger and other emotions.

Your winning depends on your inputs as what you staked in for the bet and then you received it back as output to what you put already. Meaning he is only gambling according to his risk level and whenever someone wants to winning higher amount he or they needs to bet higher to get what they wants, that is why your friend always win very little amount before he refused to double his betting amount to have good pay out. But guess what, I sincerely love what he is doing currently because that would reduced him from becoming addicted and start wasting money, and again we should know that gambling is a kind of very hard game to play since our winning is not defined or you won't know when your luck could shine and they win huge amount.

Gambling is a game of luck but it does not mean that you will attain huge profit if you try again and again because with such tries you can also face continuous loss. I think if a person once knows that his loss is more than his win and gambling is just spoiling the worth of his money then he should quit gambling because after this the risk increases more.

For him little win was better but now if he is going to try again and again so not only the success rate increases but the rate of loss also increases. There should be a break from gambling as regular gambling will force you to put huge money as a result of which you will lose all the amounts.

No matter how careful you are, you will always lose sometimes because gambling is such a game that sometimes you lose sometimes you win. That one lose does not mean he should stop gambling because there is no way to completely avoid losses and that does not imply that gambling is not profitable. People are making a living off gambling, you just have to figure out a way to remain profitable and also hope for luck that makes the process easier. So, people will continue to lose but if you don't give up, you will win and make decent profit. If you are gambling in such a way that one loss will force you out of gambling, then you are not managing your risk properly.

Underestimate- nothing
First of all,  you needs to know that gambling is not a game that is quite easy to stop when you have already been into the system, especially when addicted to it, because their are people out there that thinks that they can't do without gambling, and when it has gotten to that point, just know that is either they are already addicted or they are on the verge of addiction.

Secondly, another thing about gambling is that once you have started gambling, and starts accumulating losses of different sizes, the only thing that would be mostly in your head is how to win back what you have lost, and by doing so, you end up losing more money, because gambling doesn't works like that, when you gamble out of desperation, you will definitely lose more  money, so in essence is that, gambling should be a game for fun, not seeing it as a means of income.
Especially when you get your first win, that is when you will be encouraged to even want to gamble more, that first win is like a trap, that a lot of people have fallen victim to, you will find it difficult to stop the only thing you can happen is to adjust and avoid gambling always and also try as much as possible to avoid friends that are gamblers because they might just encourage you to gamble more or even gamble whenever you see them gambling and that way you become addicted and every time you will want to gamble either you win or not I won't see has it been reasonable at all.  because gambling is risky, and diving into it too much is dangerous, the better we reduce how we gamble the better for us,  because when you gamble a lot you won't even have money to do relevant things again.

What you said to your friend was right, because it looks like he thinks he definitely should win a big amount, it's just a matter of time.

but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.

It's not impossible, but only if that amount is realistic. Like , take me for example. I'm happy with winning $200 with my 20 cents stake. That's my goal so to speak. And I've succeeded in that several times. But if my goal was to win a million, maybe I wouldn't achieve it in my whole life. See? Tell your friend to set realistic goals.

Gratitude buddy! He should show some gratitude and stop the complains, the complains can only mean one thing, and that's that he is greedy and not contented, whereas there a thousand if not millions of gamblers out there that will really make do of that small win your friend is making as profit from his gambling. Not quite a lot of gamblers get lucky to win a cent since this year started.

Your advice to him is not the best, ultimately, gambling is an activity of luck no doubt, but consistency in engaging in it doesn't make for or attract quick luck for bigger wins. The chances could be that while you gamble consistently you still get to experience countless losses while someone else gambling ones a while get luck to hit a jackpot. How unfair that sounds, right Huh But it's the reality of gamble.
I mean gambling is not even a thing that you could make money from, there is a house edge and in theory you should lose money if you keep gambling, doesn't matter even if you win millions of dollars worth of jackpot one day, if you keep gambling with that money eventually you will lose, hence why many withdraw when they win big.

So, if that friend ends up not going bankrupt then he is doing fine and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I do not earn much from gambling neither, sometimes I get lucky and sometimes I don't but I end up being happy with it. I do not spend all my money here, I spend very little and that gives me some fun, so I consider the money I lost as money spent and not lost, in exchange of getting some fun and entertainment out of all of this instead.

If playing is not enjoyable anymore then what's the purpose to continue? Unless if he's really after profit with a goal of gaining huge. Because those gamblers who have this desire can't stop even they keep on losing. Just give him advice to just play in moderation because gambling is a game of luck and chances to profit is slim. It's better to gamble and have fun rather than spending money then you'll be tempted to play again because you want to recover the losses.

Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more?

Good question. Now let's base it on your friends scenario/situation. Your friend might have miscalculated the probability of winning against losing. We all know when we gamble, we have a huge chances of losing than winning, correct me if I'm wrong but it's like we have 30% chances of winning out of 100% than losing. So, your friend might still aiming for a goal that could be close to impossible to achieve, like hitting the jackpot in the lottery.
Another thing that let a person get hooked up with gambling is because gambling serves as the outlet to release the stress from every day work. This could somehow help a person emotionally as long as the expenditures are in control. But then again, going back to your friend's scenario, it looks like this isn't what he's aiming for. I suggest you should tell him the probability of winning against losing and that he needs to control his spendings and expect lesser than what he used to be anticipating what he gets from winning.

However I don't think gamblers that doesn't gamble to be entertained or for money are much because it's hard to hear that someone decided to gamble because he/she want to keep him self busy. Well there might be gamblers like that but I don't think that those set is of gamblers are much. People who gambles for money are many and it's only the rich gamblers that gamblers for entertainment. Many of use on this forum believes that the rich gamblers to be entertained and the poor gambles to make money so, my question is, is it the ones that are not rich and are not poor that gambles just to while away time?
I don't think it makes sense if their goal in gambling is to keep themselves busy, why not do other things which clearly have a lot more to do and are more useful than gambling. It is very likely that the number of gamblers who continue to put money into gambling even though they have lost are those who gamble with the aim of making money, with a goal like that that makes them not give up even though they have lost and lost money gambling. Incidents like this are no longer strange, because they have happened a lot in my opinion.
Indirectly, in my opinion, they do spend time, but with style. Gambling which is said to have rewards if you are lucky is an attraction for the gamblers who play. In fact, they don't just spend time but also spend money. With those who are rich of course their aim may be for entertainment which can be said to be a waste of time and money, the same is true for those who are poor, the aim of gambling is to make money, and that is the same as spending time and money. . It's just that here the perception is different for the rich and the poor.

What I've read on this responses are interesting and some ideas partially not acceptable by me. A player is either rich or poor and not in the middle. In a twinkle of an eye a low roller would turn to a high roller and revolves this way. Players have ups and downs. Some decide not to wager high because it's squarely unacceptable in the technique they implement in gambling. Hence, placing gamblers in a middle position and wondering if they don't have a reason to gamble is confusing.

As these are also gamblers but don't actually belong to no category when talking about the rich and poor players. I think they can decide to behave like the low rollers or high rollers. So, people go ahead with their losses due to a high leakage in the player's self control and emotional strength. Gaming consumes energy like other activities. When a player is tired their brain power wouldn't function accurately. Tired players get to play recklessly, all they want is a win. I watch some who continuously press on the slot buttons nonstop expecting that it makes an impact.

In everything that we humans do, there is always hope.

Unfortunately, this hope is been used against gamblers because it is the reason that they keep coming back to gamble more, they have hope in something that is based on luck, no wonder why religion is so against it.

Normally this will not only make many people lose money or even their homes but it will mess with them mentally or possibly spiritually, to have hope in your struggle is different, to have hope in your God is different, but to have hope in thin air is disturbing.

If you are not prepared physically and mentally gambling can ruin you, especially those who strongly believe that the only way they can become who they wanted in thsj life is through gambling, first of all, gambling isn't for everyone, because some people don't even know who they are, they can't control themselves and they don't even trust themselves.

This type of people are much more in numbers, this is why gambling isn't for everyone, you need to know yourself so that you can stop when it is right to stop gambling and so that you can also take your profits when it is good enough, it is not everyone that is this capable.

Yes, with repeated attempts we might win someday but the point is that we shouldn't stress ourselves over winning a lottery.
Doing that, we would just decrease our mental well-being and lose money which will just increase the impact.
This is why maintaining a balance is strictly necessary while gambling.
One of the major common problems with gamblers is being to expectant, gambling is a 50/50 game, a game of risk and chance, there's every chances of losing and so are there chances of winning, but they must also remember that the chances of losing are way more higher than that of winning so being too expectant of a win all the time might just mess up one's mental composure just as you've earlier stated.
Again, too much expectations brings disappointment, but when you just play and expect nothing but the fun and the thrill of the game, rather than the outcome of the bet.

Because they're addicted and they've got no way to quit, they're so addicted to gambling and chasing losses that it's really difficult for them to be quitting, they only complain to release the tension that they're feeling whenever they lose a lot in gambling, that's not an indicator that they're quitting, kind of like you and everyone that's got a job and you complain on the task at hand but you still do it anyway, that's basically the same thing with this one, there's no way that this friend of yours would ever quit and the only way that they're ever going to quit is when that friend's loved ones do an intervention towards rehabilitating this man. The promise of riches that gambling dangles in front of these poor people is just too attractive to let it go away, that's why it's so alluring to them to not be gambling in the hopes that they would win and would turn their life around but when it comes to chronic gamblers, they've got a hard time coping with the idea of letting go of gambling despite winning big already.

Many where gambling not because they wanted to make money from gambling, but because they are more interested in having fun through it, they had prefer to spend their time and money gambling and this alone is a great achievement on them without minding if they win  bet or not, such continuation is not because they are doing so to get addicted to gambling, but because they wanted to achieve their maximum goal with having fun.

Well the truth is that can't state that every body go for the money aspect but I doubt if majority who engage on gambling will neglect the choice of the money involved in gambling and go because of fun, it's the money that make many engage on gambling even to the point of addiction.

I agree with you Mate.
I do say that wether or not, Majority care about winning alongside the fun most gamblers crave for, it just a remedy used to offset them from thinking about the loses,lol. We can’t deny the fact that we will keep gambling and losing much in the process all because of fun, how??.

For me, I would greatly advise that your friend clearly understand that losing is inevitable as winning is by chance. It up to him to decide and avoid getting wreck in the process of continuation.
If it is sport betting, he should consider improving in his analyzing skill.

Thats because he is an irresponsible gambler that clearly does not understand what gambling is all about. And to be honest, gambling will never be a source of consistent profits and income. It could either be a source of consistent losses for all we know. So he should never see gambling as a means to gain more money, otherwise he will used up all his funds if he stick on that belief.

I suggest he should only gamble with small amount so that minimal losses will not affect him. That way, he will see what is real gambling about, and that is simply to have fun and become entertained, not actually to double or triple your capital.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!

I don’t know if you’ve ever been in that scenario where you simply want your money back and don’t want any interest or extra, that may be his case (depending on how much he has lost). Best you can do is advise him that he should take it slow and steady if he wants to continue, and also, gambling shouldn’t be his main source of income.

Of course most gamblers have been in the same shoe and worse part is you expect to regain your loses without extra but if you are lucky to get there, you start looking for same extra that you don't intend to. This is usually the story of gamblers, as to the reason that they lost even deeper. Emotion is the cause of loses, a gambler who is good with controlling his emotion is probably going to get his bets. Playing many times or fewer times won't really matter anything without proper guide to our emotions.

~~~
when they experience defeat there is a possibility that they will not stop, with gambling which usually ends in defeat but they gamble again to win back everything they have lost, sometimes reasoning that the defeat that has occurred is almost a win, so they think they can win. in gambling that they will do again, of course it is not a guarantee that they can win, even though in their gambling they almost won, but that doesn't mean that by gambling again they can win again. This possibility will make them addicted and experience more losses.
Because when someone is addicted, it will be difficult to stop gambling even if losses occur to him, and when he is advised or given advice not to gamble, it is also very difficult for someone who is addicted because basically every addiction will stop when his conscience has the intention. to stop.
So someone who continues to gamble and experiences defeat or losses finds it very difficult to stop because their ego or curiosity is so big that they think they will win.
But then One good solution is to know when to call it quits; to know when you should give up and say your goodbyes. Experienced gamblers know this very well and that’s one way to manage risk. They try to not stake too much that will create a connection to their emotion. And if they ever do, when they see it’s gone, they let it be. Because based on experience, they will only lose more.
Most keep gambling because is they actually found it fun and entertaining, expecially those that are financially stable that they don't have to depend on the money they normally win during their gambling sections.
While most continue, because they believe that if they keep on trying one day they Will surly hit the jackpot, which is two ways though it is possible for one to surely a nice jackpot that may change one live for the better, and at same time he or she may just endup getting themselves reckt, due to various losses.
I agree that people who have no problem with their financial, will continue gambling because it may be fun activities for them. In this condition, they have no reason to stop because they consider it as common habits. But this type of gamblers won't spend excessive money because they gamble only for having fun, they aren't trying to chase certain amount of money from the prizes.
Sure, many gambler will keep gambling because they expect to win a big prize someday (jackpot). This type of gamblers may spend excessive money when they are too optimistic to win it someday. They sometimes becomes aggressive in gambling when they see a successful gambler. Simply, this type of gamblers will easily be influenced when he see people won big prizes from gambling.
Well, we also can't avoid that some people gamble like doing their usual habits. This will never stop because they do it like they do other usual activities in daily life.  Grin
The most dumb thing to give someone is to give them the idea that if they continue gambling they'd win it big at some point. That's how all gamblers fall into that endless loop of an idea that they'd be someday repaid with their continuous gambling. It does happen though, dw, just that it only happens to that 1% (or maybe even less) of gamblers. And it's not even a fair selection really, since rich people would be able to get into that 1% more than an average gambler could.
I'd honestly tell them to do something else, find a hobby or something. Maybe invite him to join me on what I enjoy.
Plenty gamblers have their perception that the much you gamble the more you get closer to getting that anticipated win that could make your world go round but that's just some lame perspective in anyways a person wanna garnish it. And I oblige to your opinion, getting a more creative idea than gambling to augment could be kinda relieving than anything persistent gambling.
