I've a friend of mine who always complain that ever since he started gambling he haven't won a good amount, instead he'll be winning less money than what he expected but he can't stop. So I'm asking what do you suggest he should do at this case. For me I told him that he should know that gambling it's a game of risk and luck, but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.

Most keep gambling because is they actually found it fun and entertaining, expecially those that are financially stable that they don't have to depend on the money they normally win during their gambling sections.

While most continue, because they believe that if they keep on trying one day they Will surly hit the jackpot, which is two ways though it is possible for one to surely a nice jackpot that may change one live for the better, and at same time he or she may just endup getting themselves reckt, due to various losses.

I'd honestly tell them to do something else, find a hobby or something. Maybe invite him to join me on what I enjoy.
I'd also tell the same thing to do other things when they keep on losing or they are not able to think properly anymore because what they have in their mind is to chase and recover their losses.

Despite losing a lot with their bets, they are continuing due to the fact that they think only of a few things. To continue and recover, and the regret of gambling and the money that have lost.

So, for the traders there is a stop loss. With gamblers, there's nothing like that and that's why many chooses to continue.

The reason why people continue playing even when they are only losing is because when they lose they believe that in the next game they will be lucky enough to win and that way, even though they are losing, they continue playing until the money they took to the casino is all gone. . For example, in your friend's case, when he puts in 10$ he plays and loses, he thinks he was very close to winning, he just lost the 10$ because he was unlucky but if he continues playing then he will be lucky in the next game, when the next game and he plays and loses, he thinks again that he needs to play one more time so that in the next game he will be able to win, he will repeat this cycle many times until he runs out of money

and see that everything will get worse if he is lucky enough to win a few times, because in gambling  when a person wins, he becomes more confident that he is invincible, so he thinks that he can win many times, even if he has a cycle of many defeats , she still won't give up because for her, that victory she had in the past, will come to an end again, playing thinking about profit is something very dangerous and should always be avoided, the person who plays a lot thinking about profit ends up very badly. becomes addicted, bankrupt, in debt and sometimes in jail

The most dumb thing to give someone is to give them the idea that if they continue gambling they'd win it big at some point. That's how all gamblers fall into that endless loop of an idea that they'd be someday repaid with their continuous gambling. It does happen though, dw, just that it only happens to that 1% (or maybe even less) of gamblers. And it's not even a fair selection really, since rich people would be able to get into that 1% more than an average gambler could.

I'd honestly tell them to do something else, find a hobby or something. Maybe invite him to join me on what I enjoy.

Many where gambling not because they wanted to make money from gambling, but because they are more interested in having fun through it, they had prefer to spend their time and money gambling and this alone is a great achievement on them without minding if they win  bet or not, such continuation is not because they are doing so to get addicted to gambling, but because they wanted to achieve their maximum goal with having fun.

Yes that may be true, but I think if we compare about whether gambling is more of a place to seek entertainment or a place to seek income I think most of the more gamblers make gambling a place to earn, Although I do not have statistical data that can prove it, from the many cases of downturns that I have found about the number of gamblers who have experienced downturns, I can confirm that more gamblers make gambling a place to earn than just for fun, because logically if for example what they want is only entertainment, it is unlikely that they really want to exchange money just for entertainment, meaning that there is something they are after, namely victory.

But on the other hand yes I also admit that there are some gamblers who do make gambling for fun but I don't really know about whether they have a reasonable reason to be used as a defense or not, but whatever your intentions and goals come to gambling, however it is always recommended to apply caution and vigilance.

However I don't think gamblers that doesn't gamble to be entertained or for money are much because it's hard to hear that someone decided to gamble because he/she want to keep him self busy. Well there might be gamblers like that but I don't think that those set is of gamblers are much. People who gambles for money are many and it's only the rich gamblers that gamblers for entertainment. Many of use on this forum believes that the rich gamblers to be entertained and the poor gambles to make money so, my question is, is it the ones that are not rich and are not poor that gambles just to while away time?

Keep in mind that when you gamble, it's all about taking risks. No one can promise large wins all the time; losing is inevitable and your friend must understand this. To avoid disappointment or frustration, it is essential to lay down realistic expectations.

The first piece of advice to give might be to tell them to set limits, then keep those limits strictly in place. This could be a limit on how long they play, how much money they spend, or how often they gamble. If your friend has clear boundaries, it helps him control his gambling behavior: he won't lose more than he can afford if he sticks with these restrictions. Also ask your friends to find pleasure in other entertainment or activities that take their focus away from gambling. Discovering new interests or participating in social events will reduce the temptation to bet too much.

Getting rid of an addiction to gambling is hard. however, your friend can get over it with appropriate support.

Well the truth is that can't state that every body go for the money aspect but I doubt if majority who engage on gambling will neglect the choice of the money involved in gambling and go because of fun, it's the money that make many engage on gambling even to the point of addiction.

Personal feelings and emotions like frustration and regrets. It could also just be desire of becoming rich or the idea that they just enjoy the experience. It depends on the individual actually; we have our own reasons in the first place of why we are doing something. There are two sides to consider; playing despite of losses because you lost that much and you have to make up for it or continuing to bet because you can afford the amount you've lost.

I wouldn't say the same thing. I doubt that with constant betting we can actually win big someday.
If it were so then everybody would be betting these days in the hope of winning big some or the other day.
Since we already know its just pure luck, we shouldn't pay more focus into it and just casually bet withing our budget.
May be luck shines some day then we can win big otherwise we wouldn't need to stress so much anyway.
Well, betting continuously would basically increase your chance of winning because you are adding attempts to do so however it won't lessen the tendency of losing. The more you bet, the more you'd be exposed to the chance that you'll win but the question is, until when would you be able to do so? What would blow up first, you winning or you losing everything you have?

Yes, with repeated attempts we might win someday but the point is that we shouldn't stress ourselves over winning a lottery.
Doing that, we would just decrease our mental well-being and lose money which will just increase the impact.
This is why maintaining a balance is strictly necessary while gambling.
Control and moderation is everything when it comes to gambling and other sorts of things specially if its really that related on spending up some funds or money towards it, because on the time that you had missed out on doing so then it would really be bringing out that huge disaster into your finances and this is something that you must avoid at all cost. When doing gambling or betting then it would really be that normal that we would really be having that kind of urge since you do know that you can make money with it and its something a very common approach for most people. In the case of op, if he had been telling his friend on having that kind of risks in gambling and having that moderation in spending but still he wont listen then better to let him be, the thing on here is that you didnt lack on making those kind of warnings and cautions in towards it.

People do usually stop on playing gambling or stopping onto something when they do already experience unfortunate conditions but on the time that they arent that experiencing something then
they would really be tending to do those things no matter what or as long they do have money into their pockets on which this is something that you would really be needing up to think up carefully.

Do you remember that old meme where 2 men dig a tunnel to find gold and one is close but decides to give up because he went so far without finding anything and the other is just starting his tunnel and we don't know if he decides to keep digging until he finds it or if he'll quit like the other guy.

The more you lose, until a certain poinmt you will want to keep playing because you'll feel like each loss gets you closer to the win.

Gambling is that we play against our emotions, and any situations that arise provoke us to commit erroneous actions. If a person is easily angered, then he will succumb to this and it is better for him not to gamble, because he will begin to do things that he did not even know he could do. This even happened to me once, I simply didn’t recognize myself, it was terrible, but now I bet on my bankroll and haven’t lost my temper for several years.

This instability is also called tilt, the main thing is not to fall into it, otherwise it will be very sad for us. I have seen even professional players go on tilt and lose a lot, but they still know that in the long run they will be able to win something and pay off their debts while on tilt. Perhaps some people should even work with a psychologist, this will certainly help.

To answer your next question, your friend have two choices which are; he should stop gambling or he should continue gambling. If he stops, he will not have to deal with gambling losses again and if he continues to gambling, losses are inevitable.

Haha I understand that you are trying to be straight up with your advise that if you are gambling then expect the loses too. Yes it is right, like if you have fetched ant infested firewood then you should also expect the visit of reptiles Grin. So that is the way gambling is, if you have made up your mind to chase the profit in gambling then you have to also be ready to take the risk of losing because every gambler lose from time to time and also wins when he is lucky. Therefore if you are losing, you don't have to see it as you are the only one who is losing, you have to get your analysis well and you have great fun when you win and also take it the way it comes when you lose.

Of course most gamblers have been in the same shoe and worse part is you expect to regain your loses without extra but if you are lucky to get there, you start looking for same extra that you don't intend to. This is usually the story of gamblers, as to the reason that they lost even deeper. Emotion is the cause of loses, a gambler who is good with controlling his emotion is probably going to get his bets. Playing many times or fewer times won't really matter anything without proper guide to our emotions.
Returning to gambling after experiencing defeat is of course not very good because the results we get will also be the same because it is very unlikely that we will be able to win after losing the previous bet. Controlling emotions when gambling is very important because when someone cannot control their emotions when gambling, of course they will gamble with greed and this will be very detrimental to themselves, betting too often will also have a bad impact on ourselves and it would be better for us to limit the gambling activities we do so that things don't happen that we don't want. the impact of gambling.

In fact, one of the reasons why it is not recommended to continue gambling after losing is because usually when you are still in a losing situation, you are still dominated by emotions due to the defeat which in the end usually these emotions will encourage you to make some decisions that usually make no sense or impulsive decisions because most likely you do it based on emotions and not a rational mindset. And this is why in some cases gamblers even experience a greater amount of loss which is because they make decisions that they cannot be responsible for such as for example back betting with a much larger budget and when it turns out that the results do not match then obviously it is a situation that will further worsen their mental and psychological which sometimes makes them experience stress because they cannot withstand all the pressure. This is the reason why it is always recommended to know when to start and when to stop, because by having this ability, it is less likely for you to experience a more significant amount of loss and can also avoid bad possibilities such as addiction.

The constant betting part is misleading, why gave him such advice? Normally the lesser time you spend on a casino the better, because gambling is wired in a way that we humans will keep coming back, for me atleast, this is why I believe that its a absolute win for those who are running a online casino business.

Every thing about gambling is wired against the gambler, the casinos don't even need to cheat, the nature of human will always keep them coming back, we are curious beings and we always believe that the more we put in more effort the better the result will be.

The mistake there is this is gambling, not your life hustle, not your dream job where you need promotion to make more money after you can rank up, this is a game based on pure luck, you need less activity by default.

This is a bad advise for your friend. He might think this and won't stop playing until he literally turn his life into chaos. It's in the nature of the people and most gamblers to get greedy when winning and get tempted to win back the losses if he losses. The best advise for me is to let him know that the losses won't come back and it's pointless to win it back as it would only result in more losing, instead just use what amount he is willing to risk and just entertain himself and in no time he'll win with the goal of having fun and not because he is trying his luck or winning back his losses.

Yeah exactly so instead of giving an advice to continue much better for his friend to stop since if he's not lucky and having a bad day for sure this streak will continue since for sure a heavy emotion will come and that will give them bad result since he can't think good then maybe do aggressive betting for thinking that he can easily recover especially if he increase his bet size. If he want to win maybe he should try his luck next time since maybe with that he will have a fresh start and good times will come after him then he can recover his past losses made from past few days. Also he should know how he handle his finances on gambling since everything is unstable here so he can't expect any sure gain that's why instead of thinking about profit much better if he just enjoy the game.

Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? There are lot of reason and one of it is chasing the losses or greed and the point is why you cant stop because you get addicted and emotions already take control of your body. that is why some people know they lose but still want to bet more all they want is to win and that's it.

Second he got addicted because he feel the win and then he just want more and more and greed is take over

I think many people experience this, not just your friends who feel this way, everyone who participates in gambling, many people experience defeat, bankruptcy, debt everywhere as a result of gambling, so the people who can win big from gambling are only a handful of people of the billions of people who gamble. Your friend should be grateful that he can still win even if he only wins a little and doesn't meet his expectations. Many people have difficulty winning even just a little, so whatever results we get we can still accept it rather than having to experience continuous defeat which will make us lose we get stressed and actually chase defeat.

But in my opinion, even though we have won a little money, we still have to stop and not chase too much after the winnings we hope for. If we experience luck without gambling continuously and only do it occasionally, we can still get it. But if you don't experience luck, you will try as hard as you can continuously gambling and hoping one day to get a big win will be in vain.

He probably doesn't understand that until he stops, he will most likely lose. Of course, he has a chance to win, but this chance is very small and only creates for him the illusion that it is he who will win, and not other players. Although they are essentially the same and luck randomly chooses those who win, you need to tell him this. Why did he decide that he would win and not other players? Of course, he won’t like the truth, but the worst thing is that he will try to prove it to you with his game that it is possible to win and will lose even more. In short, when it comes to advice to players, we must say them very carefully, because they can affect them in an even worse way.
