I want to learn more about bitcoins and earn some extra bitcoins without pressuring myself too much. Also, this is a good training ground if you want your profession to be related to politics, economics, technology and other stuff because from here, you would pick up some interesting knowledge from different threads.

I like bitcointalk.com, today whatever I have learned about bitcoins is from this site only. When started as a newbie I was very excited about Bitcoins. There were many questions in my mind like what is bitcoins, how it works, how to use them and many more. My knowledge regarding bitcoins has been increased only because of bitcointalk.com. There are so many threads and discussion which are helpful for the beginners.

That's true that you can gain knowledge from this forum but you are forgetting that you can also earn bitcoins from this forum by joining signature campaigns, and it is the best and the safest way to earn bitcoins, but yes it is definitely best for the newbies who are learning about the bitcoins and want to earn bitcoins and want to continue with it.

Bitcoin has provided the option to all those who are fed up with the fiat currency, banks and they are ready to accept alternate options. There are no restrictions of banks, there is a privacy and its simple, innovation and easy to use. These are few plus points for Bitcoins. Bitcointalk.com is providing the platform for all the bitcoin users to have a healthy discussion and gain some more knowledge about bitcoins.

I think you forgot to mention that bitcointalk allows you to post absolute nonsense in order to earn through signature campaigns. But don't worry, I just mentioned that for you.

There is no other viable option.  It is the same reason that when computers started out that PC's were so dominate, there is just no other options to compete, then Mac came along and started kicking butt and now there are choices.

What are the other choices we have?

I actually like the community here and most people seem to give pretty decent advice when you ask questions without making fun of you and all that garbage.

I understand there is a lack of alternatives, and there is not a better place for up to date information.

But, in the light of Bitcoin and what it represents, neither of these platforms promote the same ideologies.  So, just curious to reach out and ask why the community continues to visit these sites?  What is your take?  Would you move to another platform? What would it take? What are your favorite alternatives?  And 170,000 odd subscribers, what # do you estimates is multiple user accounts (I personally have about 8 of those) and active Bitcoiners?
Because thats the onllllly reliable place to earn bitcoin and learn about bitcoin

I used to be an active poster on reddit and here (with another account) but I stopped because of the ridiculous behavior by the mods.
If I want to discuss Bitcoin with others, I do in private channels. I'm just here when I'm bored and like to read about the latest gossip.
I think, the 2 main Bitcoin forums have become irrelevant to people who are deeply involved in Bitcoin. Sure, every now and then, there are good threads and it's also fine for asking questions but that's it. Besides, a centralized managed forum for a decentralized currency just doesn't fit.

Well depending on what behavior by the mods you are referring to I would agree in some ways if on about making stupid decisions about stuff that has gone on and nothing gets done to prevent it. More actions should be taken on this form and more rules created on who can post what and where and what type of post is and not allowed. Their should be some sort of restrictions for business being posted or such gambling and ponzi stuff as many people get ripped off. People getting banned and making alt accounts should be put to a stop and some part of a section available for banned accounts and support section made for them to post in and admins or mods answer their questions. Too little is done on the forums to keep clean and tidy or scammer free and seems admins only let people get away with it and other people get damaged by it.

Leave no FUD unchallenged
If you walk away from the discussion, you're only encouraging a split in the community.  Also, if too many people in one place share identical views, all you've achieved is creating an echo-chamber of people who won't stop to question the direction they've agreed to move in (which may come back to bite you later).  Sometimes dissent is necessary.  It's better to stand your ground and argue for what you believe in than to walk away and leave those you disagree with unopposed.  If Bitcointalk is still the largest forum and it appears as though most of the people on that forum are supporting smaller blocks, what impression does that give?  Get back over here, join the debate and stop thinking that a little splinter movement is going to achieve anything but removing yourselves from the discussion.

We go where the biggest collection of people go, like a bunch of sheep in a herd.  Grin It would be very lonely to talk to yourself in a forum with 20 people.  Roll Eyes The biggest debate and discussion is still on this forum

and on \r\Bitcoin on Reddit. It also gives you that warm feeling inside, knowing that you part of a active community of people, passionate about the same thing on a platform where it all started. You can still go back

to Satoshi's posts on this forum, and this cannot be said about other platforms.  Roll Eyes

You answered your own question in your first sentence. And you're right that these platforms don't promote the same ideologies, they promoted all ideologies of the entire bitcoin community. Reddit doesn't have some stance on bitcoin, nor does Bitcointalk...they're infrastructure, not people.
