I understand there is a lack of alternatives, and there is not a better place for up to date information.

But, in the light of Bitcoin and what it represents, neither of these platforms promote the same ideologies.

Unless you can find a forum that is decentralized I'm not sure how you could have one that promotes the same ideologies. Bitcointalk is currently the best place and its hardly run by nazis though people complain whenever their thread gets moved into the correct section. Personally I wouldn't change unless a clear superior forum came about.

I now have negative feedback due to this post. Apparently I am an account farmer, which is basically as far as you could get from reality.  In this post I suggested I have made multiple REDDIT accounts in the past, which now is reflecting upon my trust here negatively.  If you decide to look, you can also note that the account who has left the negative feedback is immune from negative feedback, I ask you to give it a shot.  visit the account that provided negative feedback due to misreading this post, and try to leave negative feedback, it brings you to an INVALID url.  It;s kind of ironic that after this post my account is now hindered with negative feedback, on a clearly flawed system that represents nothing but what I assume to be theymos. Whether it is or it isn't, the trust system here is botched, and so is the communication element for a decentralized system when theymos owns it.  It's too bad that you cannot voice an opinion without the friendly forum host here basically wrecking your account based on nothing. have a great day.

The invalid URL claim is false, works fine for me. If you wish to leave feedback, you can try again later.
If you could explain why you have 8 accounts, I'd like to hear it.

If you feel as tho it is wrong and by looks of it is and no dubt theirs plenty of people who abuse the rating system. Take it up with support and ask them to review it maybe will remove it for you. I don't have such features like this because it can wreck a persons account and some have the ability to us but only trusted members or have to be approved by mod.

I don't feel it is wrong, it IS wrong. I have not farmed accounts on here, and my negative trust is basically solely guaged on this misreading of this original post which I suggested I have made multiple accounts on REDDIT, not here. I invite you to try and leave negative feedback on the account that did mine, and you will be brought to an invalid URL page. I do find that quite ironic, and am wondering if the account is one of theymos', or another Bitcointalk moderator that clearly got their panties in a bunch due to my negative post. It is a little frustrating and I will be leaving this forum shortly, as clearly it is not a fit place to judge content or trust in any context.

The fact that I have negative feedback due to a lie, is comical. The fact that the account who left the negative feedback based his trust rating on MIS reading this post, is also quite humerus.  The fact that you cannot leave negative feedback in return to his (or) her lies, is eye opening. Clearly this place is subject to the same type of selective censorship and negativity as r/bitcoin.  It's a little frustrating after working to do my part in this community for so long but I will get over it.

Just from this thread alone I've added about 6 users to my ignore list for worthless sig campaign posts or shitty English or both.  I like the fact that btctalk is not censored, but sig campaigns just do not help intelligent discussion.

Reddit is garbage.  Reminds me of Myspace back in the day.  Cluttered, ugly, and unintuitive.

Feel free to add me in their haters be hating. Even if I did not have a sig campaign under my name, I would be posting just as much or even more throughout bitcointalk. Theirs times I do not post or post as much as I use to due to the fact I am working on projects that should exceed bitcointalk in the future. But that is going to take some work to get a place as big and successful as bitcointalk. Campaign is just giving me coin for something am already doing, as they are using my signature space to promote their business and get their name about. Bitcointalk need to get their act together on a lot of things but chose not to. I have highlighted many times past and current but do nothing about it to improve. Guess this will be used in my own forums when ready.

The upvote system is the advantage of reddit, it does have some draw backs though like you say.  I'd rather a forum like this with an upvote system.

Bitcointalk is the most respected and oldest forum since bitcoin launch..And you won't find much members anywhere else then here..That's the main reason people share their view on bitcoin here not anywhere else because of much larger audience Smiley

I only support bitcointalk because of the amount of people posting on here and posting useful information. If another site popes up tomorrow that was just as big as bitcointalk and well known I would use that as well but theirs too many sister sites trying to do the same as bitcointalk and fail have a lot of activity on it and then end up coming back on bitcointalk. Even I have my own altcoin website and never really took off but I plan sometime in the future to give it a shot at making it just as big as Bitcointalk and the go to place for information. But that will take time and many members and traffic and guests visiting.

Cypherdoc? Is that you? No one wants to use your forum dude. Give it up.

Cypherdoc? Not I.  I actually run enjoybitcoins.com, and came here to post a question and gauge the communities response. But I enjoy that you fit right in with the people around here who can see through a computer... Pretty insane skill, seem tuned right in #LOL.  You might need a tune up boss.  Grin

For me I think this is the biggest community in here about bitcoins. I cannot find any other site like this one. Fully informative + the services we can get in here.

I am not a reddit fan.
I find it difficult to follow a thread there.

The forums here is where I started my journey in Bitcoin.
I got help from members here to setup my miners and how to operate them.
In time and slowly I got into the spirit of Bitcoin.
The forums here are rich in information and if you are up for it, you can make a little bit of extra coins.
So, where else?

But, in the light of Bitcoin and what it represents, neither of these platforms promote the same ideologies.  So, just curious to reach out and ask why the community continues to visit these sites?  What is your take?  Would you move to another platform? What would it take? What are your favorite alternatives?  And 170,000 odd subscribers, what # do you estimates is multiple user accounts (I personally have about 8 of those) and active Bitcoiners?

because both are the most popular places on the internet with the highest number of users. as for bitcointalk, i think it was the first bitcoin forum that was created and satoshi was on here.
besides there is no better place to go from here. bitcointalk loads fast and easy and it is up all the time. and reddit is a good option since i use it for other subs i subscribe to /r/bitcoin too.

i have tries a couple of other crypto related forums (like cryptocointalk.com of the top of my mind) but there is just not enough life there to make me want to visit them regularly. and honestly i don't see anybody leaving these two places until the rules are the same as what they are now and meanwhile there is not better place to go.

It's still the place where everyone gathers and share information. Even if you create a new forum, same platform with the feel, colors and everything unchanged except for the domain name, people would still or mostly likely remain at bitcointalk. It's the pioneer advantage we are talking about here.

Anyone who has 8 accounts is clearly account farming and gets negative trust.
We just had an incident today where it was revealed that Quickseller was escrowing
for his own alts.

I think he's referring to Reddit. That's the type of place where you need multiple accounts as they gradually get shadow banned or forgotten.

I don't understand, where do you want us to go. This is an official Bitcoin forum where all the action takes place. This is still the easisest place for newbies and more experienced users to get the info they want really fast.

Would we change if there was an alternative? Well, that's like you are asking us, would we change for another coin if it was better than Bitcoin. This coin still doesn't exist, nor does an alternative to forum like this one, so would we change or not is very hard to answer.
