Please read some posts above to see that you can win big money, millions of USD in some cases, playing games online such as Dota , Fortnite, Counter-Strike etc. The main difference is that you have to be one in a million to start earning money playing these games, while in gambling anyone can win depending on luck. I'm not saying gambling is more suitable for making money, because I think that trying to make money with gambling is a bad idea overall, but statistically it is more likely to win $200 in gambling than earning that amount playing computer games like Fortnite. And regarding the fun component, it is a very controversial question, what, in fact, is more interesting to play, poker or Dota? For me it's the former, but I know there are people who prefer the latter.
I have heard alot about fortnite and watched some youtubers play it few years ago, never knew they pay some gamers. Guess one must be really talented in gaming in order to qualify for such rewards?

In my opinion the reason of people try gamble instead of play online games are.
1. Different people are interested in different things.
2. All people are not experienced about online games.
3. We [people] are really very lazy
and want to earn money without doing any work, And gamble is the solution i think.

Both can be fun but for online games it is only fun at the beginning the longer you play you’ll feel tired and the thrill is also gone whereas if you gamble the thrill is always there every time you place bets and there’s always thrill when you play. Also you will feel challenge the longer you’ll play.
It's a double purposes, thrill and earning at the same time if won. In playing online games we might find satisfaction on completing the game or winning in it, but nonetheless we know that when there's more reward we can get we can feel more thrilled as aiming to challenged ourselves on playing it. Though it really depends on our characteristics whether the gambling games may it be dice or cards entertained you the way adventure/action games does.
I agree, in online games you will be satisfied if you finished the task but at the end you will think it would be better if you have profits while doing so. Yes, most people would say they wanted to gamble for fun but the truth is, its not purely fun alone they also wanted to earn money from it that’s why they gamble instead of playing online games. I do play that too but that doesn't mean that we can't gamble. I also go play basketball in real life but end up playing basketball in computer games too. Just because you can do one thing doesn't mean you can't do the other they are not relevant. I play computer games all the time but sometimes not many good games come out and I can't find anything to play and that is why I end up gambling. For example right now I am thorn between buying the new Chinese total war game or gambling the same amount and I don't know which one would give me more fun.
I love, I mean LOVE Rome total wars and even medieval ones but I played last shogun and I didn't like it, Asian style of warfare doesn't really appeal to me and I want more gore and strategy instead of drama involved, Chinese make it more personal instead of just economics and power. So I may end up spending the same amount on gambling instead and may have more fun.

I think it's because in the gambling game is more challenge than the online games besides that, and there is money involve inside the games. That will be the most reason people playing gambling, but that is not happening in the gambling games too because I think some people will gamble while they play online game and sometimes, they used money too for the winner. I wouldn't play them even if I was paid $3 per hour, while I can play in a poker tournament with $3 buy-in for 2 hours, lose it and still be happy. It's a matter of how much you are creative and turn your gaming into money making opportunity. Also if you are earning through live streaming games on youtube / facebook, there is no risk of losing in it and you will always earn money form it.

Well good for you but I do not think that playing games are for kids and not for grown up. If you think that playing games are for grown up then you are just like admitting that you are really that old and your complexes are weak. I have known some old friends and until now they can play better than young ones. It is just a matter how you treat and think of yourself.
However, you have also the point that betting is better thab playing games but mind you that not all the times had betting been good for bettting is just like a season. This days betting might be good because of the NBA finals series and other football leauge but right after the finals then betting will not be that good and ine will going to wait for another finals series. Yeh I also agree on it if people wants to entertain their selves then they can also do some online games instead of being addicted on gambling. It is much more funfor me and vvery interesting but I guess some people are much more preferred on gambling since they want more exciting and much challenging.

As you said, it is a good way to past time and they are not doing it seriously since it is just a way to pass their time so I don't think it will be boring for them also because there are a lot of other games they can play especially these days that games are so mainstream.
