Online games can be good too as past time but it is only challenging at first since you jut started but the longer you play you will feel bored because the reward isn't real money, unlike if it's gambling you will feel challenged and it isn't boring.
It depends on someone whether he enjoys playing games or gambling. For me I do enjoy online games more, grind everyday making my character stronger, meet some people who enjoys that game too and exchange ideas how to be stronger. Unlike in gambling, I don't enjoy it because I think you'll get addicted to it in the long run. Mostly in gambling, the house edge controls your winnings and you must spend money everytime you play then lose in the end without getting a benefit to it.
Me I played both online games and gambling this two has not the same enjoyment that I feel because, playing online game is also enjoyed playing and it's free you don't need to spend money, but in gambling when you play there is also enjoyment or excitement but we need to spend money so that we can play game and also we need to be more serious in playing gambling because anytime you can win or lose your money, not like online games it's always free to play.
