People buy it to use as a store of value too, especially if you see now, Gold is down, Bitcoin is up, USD is up, we win on both fronts.
I am very excited about BTC for numerous reasons but I already have practical reasons to be excited. I will be saving an easy $100 in a month when our family goes on vacation on exchange fees. How? We are going to meet up with a local resident and exchange our BTC for fiat and save ourselves the expensive fees banks will charge us for doing that. 
We are also looking for restaurants that will take BTC so we do not have to pay exchange fees as well. Already, I am really happy to have BTC, and this is just one little example.

I understand exactly how bitcoins works, how mining works ...
What I don't understand is why the price is so high (~ 90 euros). It does not make sense to me.
So, make it simple: what makes that high price? High supply.
Where did it come from? And why?

The more you sell, the more it costs, certainly the Diamond federation has a lot to learn from your powerful wisdom.
I know it's hard to comprehend for some, but bitcoin has utility (additionally to the speculative nature), hence the demand. ;-)

To me, it seems pretty strange that people actually continues buying btc now...
I understood why they wanted to invest in btc before, after the Chyprus crisis, and all the articles in the media. But now?
I don't get it.

Here's why my brother is getting into it. He has a disability and collects disability, but they monitor his bank account and if he has too much they cut him off. So he can't save a small amount for future hardships. Bitcoin gives him that option.

We'd need to know the total fees involved on the bank side to make a meaningful price comparison, but its certainly possible to find people willing to do cash trades all over the world.

Rare chance to lose its value + just fucking fun.
I buy BTC to trade or to buy things in Bitcointalk as it is much easier than payment by fiat
it is a ponzi scheme, the problem is nobody will admit that our current lifestyle is all a ponzi scheme so your wife can be right and also buy bitcoins too.
Nice thought! Either we figure out a way to make a profit from colonizing outer space or humanity will consume all its resources while still stuck on Earth and die out.
Also, another reason to buy bitcoin: if there's something you want to buy on Bitcoinstore.com. I found something (a 16 GB RAM chip) on there that is substantially cheaper than the price on Amazon.com, like $40 cheaper last I checked. That's enough of a price difference to more than make up for the fees involved with buying bitcoins.
