Besides what you point out, it is human nature to take advantage of every opportunity presented. Some call it greed, some call it fulfillment, but whatever the name, there's a human side that wants to take a chance because this is how we evolve in our existence.

So many of our characteristics show up in how we gamble, but our failures in gambling in not understanding how the gambling platform works, thrive in tempting us to put our wants into action in gambling platforms so people naturally chase their losses in gambling.

You see that greed, many people who imdulge in such kind of risk don't use the money they can afford to lose, they see that opportunity as a smart move but what they don't know is that gambling itself has some smart characteristics in the sense that if you don't look well, you are going to regret using that money in the first place, so when they are caught in the act of loss, they tend to chase the loss which in the process they lose more again.

It's just natural for human to take advantage of anything that comes their way but gambling isn't what you do like that, most often you will make nothing and when you put money that you really need that badly, the end result is regret and if you don't want to see the madness, don't try to chase the loss.

The the list of reasons why people chase losses I would like to add such effect: when people gamble, they want to end their session with a win, with a round or solid amount on the balance, they often make that "just one last bet". I catch myself doing such things from time to time. When I am about to finish and I see that I have $49 on my balance for example, I play one more round to make it $50. If I lose, I try to get back to either those $49 or make another attempt to get $50. This process can be repeated several times, and I think this is the reason why people keep on gambling and loosing.

I like the way you put it, and I honestly think it's a reality-based opinion. On the other hand of course there are quite a lot of reasons that make gamblers chase their losses, whether it's because they have lost so they want to return something that has been lost before, or like you said which I think the scenario is very funny where we have managed to get a number of wins but when the winnings are in odd numbers then usually there is always a feeling and desire to make the amount even, which as you said if for example the amount is $49 then usually there will be a desire to round the amount to $50, and this is where the funny thing is that while on the way to chase the $1 so that we can reach the winning amount of $50 it turns out that the test comes, or an unwanted event occurs where the game actually goes very badly which can actually make us lose most of the amount we managed to get before, and honestly I have experienced this scenario several times. This means that scenarios like this can also be a trigger for someone to chase their losses, hence the reason why putting excessive goals and expectations on winning is always not recommended.

This has happened to me few times, and from it, I've leant to always be conscious of myself and my decisions while gambling, making sure I do not allow my brain to deceive me into believing that my losses is because a win is around the corner, making me to gamble way more than I've planned to.

So, from your own understanding, what do you think makes people chase loses aside greed which I believe many of us are already familier with?.
If I'm not mistaken, and according to my experience when I see my fellow gamblers, the thing I see most often is that people do it because they are not willing to lose their money, so they try to recover it, people like that have in mind winning and winning, they not realizing that gambling is full of risks and anyone can experience defeat, but very few people play with that awareness, that's why it's important to build self-awareness when you want to gamble, for example being aware that gambling is full of risks. When playing you have to be prepared to lose and not always just chasing victory. using money that is ready to lose is better.

Never use money for living needs because that is the same as making us take even bigger risks because of high desire and high self-confidence that we will win in the last game even though that will never happen, gambling doesn't always win and the dealer will always win, That's the mindset that we have to instill that gambling is not as easy as imagined. We gamble and take risks and we have to be self-aware. You can't gamble just relying on lust or greed to keep winning, that's not the behavior of a true gambler.

People playing gambling because they wants to fills their time and gets wins from the gambling games. But not many of them realizes that playing gambling can makes them lose much money and that will not stops their gambling activity, even they will use more money to recover their lose. They chase lose in gambling because of they wants to gets their money back so they will try that until their money back. But what they do is just makes them lose more money and that means, their lose will becomes bigger and if they don't realizes about that, they will lose all of their money. That will be the same if they wins as they wants to gets more wins but don't realizes that gambling can't always gives them another wins.

The don't wants to see their lose so they will still trying to playing gambling. They may not knows that besides losing their money, they can also gets addicted to gambling. If that happens, they will not be easy to cure it because they don't realizes that they already addicted to gambling.

You are right about the near-miss theory because most gamblers keep gambling because of it and I say this because I have seen people gambling around me and even when they are constantly losing, you may ask them to stop but they would say that they are going to get a win very soon and recover all the money they are losing, and we know what happens at the end, they end up losing everything they had in their account and then regret not listening.

For some people, the reason behind chasing their losses might be different than this. They might have this tendency of not liking losses and whenever they lose, they try to convert those losses into wins by trying to recover the losses by increasing their bets, however, they barely succeed in doing that.

One of the reason why many gamblers naturally chase after their lose is due to one thing that is built into every game known as the "near miss effect", after every loss, a near miss effect makes our brain believe that a win is very close, and this automatically makes the player to keep playing and playing
Yep, this reason might be the biggest reason that make people become addicted to gambling.

They thought if they keep losing, it means the future bet will win, while the truth there's no such algorithm or system that programmed to be like that. Every bet has a same chance to win or lose, the previous bet doesn't have any influence or affect the next bet.

Another reason is they didn't want to spend time and effort to get well paid jobs, so they live in miserable and don't have any skill to compete with other, which make them have to find "instant and easy" way to make money.

understand how it works, this is a concept that can make someone not lose sadly when gambling, when playing on one day we actually have a chance to win, it's just that many gamblers are impatient, they win once but lose twice, this is what makes capital slowly run out, when you lose the best way is to stop and play again the next day, it's just that those who are impatient will definitely incur debt to use as gambling capital, this is quite sad.

Yes, I understand why people tend to chase their losses, it is due to their instincts that cannot accept defeat and this is very normal for gamblers who want to win as if they are hypnotized and continue to gamble so they can recover their losses, I have also experienced this. but fortunately, over time I realized that if I continued gambling then I would experience further losses and I regretted it even more. It's not how much you gamble but rather how much you can afford to lose, someone who gambles must prepare money that they can afford to lose so that they don't lose. regret if the money has run out and have no intention of pursuing the loss.

Because if you have prepared money that you can afford to lose, you will not chase your losses continuously because you can accept defeat and you also know that chasing defeat will make you even more out of control and experience more losses. Many people even say that chasing defeat is too risky and someone can get addicted because they chase losses too much, so it's better, as I said before, it's better to gamble with money you can afford to lose and have fun without experiencing stress because you're afraid of losing money.

Exactly, it's really weird how people are so mystified with the fact that people want to try and chase losses when that's the natural instinct that you'll have when you gamble, you try to get back that money that you've just lost, that's how they do it, maybe the reason for why they're so mystified with how gamblers chase losses probably comes from the fact that there's gamblers out there that has this one as their main cause of their losses and so they end up losing more money than they should lose. Totally agree on that, accept the losses and move on, a new day shouldn't be a reason for you to chase the losses that you've got yesterday.
Chasing our losses is natural, and this is because it is an instinct for each person to look for the best possible outcome for themselves, and when this does not happen, people do not give up on the spot and instead they keep trying to figure out ways to achieve their goals.

It is this kind of thinking that has produced some of the greatest discoveries and inventions, but just as there are scenarios in which never giving up is the right path to take, there are others in which it is a huge mistake to do so, with gambling being one of those scenarios in which chasing our losses is not a good decision.

Isn't that a normal thing to most of the gamblers? No one wnts to lose and the reason why they simply embraced the risk of betting is to win of course. This action speaks for a gambler's emotions and I believe we all share the same feature. It just varies on how we would react whether you'd be doing it with aggression or just have it in mind to hope and to get back with the amount you lost at least half of it. Having bigger drive to win it back totally will just trigger your to bet big and continuous; if you're lucky then this will be good but if not, what to expect? Just doubling your loss. We have to be rational in gambling as well. If you know that we have no control of the outcome, then there's really no sense of forcing things to be in accordance with your will. You may again try the next day but accepting what happened on that day you lost, would be best, like a restart of a new day, new chances of winning on your next gambling attempt.

Hi everyone,
Here actually is my finding on why people chase loses in gambling, do you know that it's natural for a gambler to chase after his or her loses? Well, if you don't know, now you know, it is natural in the sense that ; the desire is inbuilt, it is we ourselves that learn to put or subject the desire to our control, same way it is natural to feel bad when you lose a bet, but you can be happy if you choose to, and can control your emotion.

One of the reason why many gamblers naturally chase after their lose is due to one thing that is built into every game known as the "near miss effect", after every loss, a near miss effect makes our brain believe that a win is very close, and this automatically makes the player to keep playing and playing, even while he or she is losing, his or her brain convinces itself that a jackpot is just around the corner, this makes the player keep playing until he or she discovers that his or her bankroll is empty, this is when anger and regret usually sets in, you begin to feel like you were not really yourself all that time you were gambling, like you were hypnotized or something, and you only regained consciousness of yourself when you have already gambled all your money away.

As you've said, It is a natural act from a gambler and ideally they want to gain back all the money thay they have lose. I mean, who wouldn't want to try to recover from their losses? everyone's already did it especially if they can't accept the fact that they already used up all the funds that they only have. We can say that greed is the major reason why people continue doing gambling because there's an instances that a person already won but because of greed, instead of gaining additional money, they ended up having zero in their pockets, So it is highly advisable to check ourself and learn how to stop when we already won.

As what it says, naturally. We can't go against nature and if it's part of nature then we have no way of being against with it. However, there is a lot of flaws going against with our own, human nature by chasing our losses. If you value your money and you still want to gamble, you've got some plans that will never hurt you the most when you gamble and that's through splitting some budget and allocation for your gambling needs. No matter what the results will be, you will not chase them and they're good as gone forever.

Because in most parts of our experiences, we don't feel good when we're letting go of our money and we're justifying that we have to recover them. But if you have plans of recovering them, you shouldn't gambled in the first place right? We're all to blame to our own mistakes and losses but if you have already accepted the fate and your feelings are light on it, congratulations then you're able to overcome the feeling of being a loser because that really sucks but you're cool when acceptance is there.

Your brain lights up like a Christmas tree after your first major triumph. Like drugs, man. You follow that feeling even when the chances are against you because it hijacks your reward system.

This is the second time I have quoted this today, and the reason is because it's true that gambling can drive one towards taking decisions that are against their own will. Funny how it may sound, but sometimes I just used to think that it takes only grace for someone to be playing some slot games and never get engrossed over their triumph or loss. If you are not smart enough and don't have good self-control, you will not even know when you are chasing losses. Man, lol, you will only realize that you once started with $5 and won either $50 or $100 but still ended up losing all.

As for someone who already has the intention for making money with gambling, you should always expect chasing after loss in other for such person to meet up with his budget, but the whole thing has been on a misconception because we cant chase after losses in gambling or make it as a means of income, when we are gambling, we are being involved on two things, to either win or lose a bet and gambling should be done as according to how we can afford for it, have fun and not to make it a means of making money except it comes in by luck
Yeah, you are right, but personally, like I would always say, I grew past the point where I used to believe that gambling was just all about having fun and nothing else, but the real truth is that, any one who is gambling will be doing it for most of the time.
I too used to tell myself that my gambling was all for the fun but with time, I realized that I was only deceiving myself, and this I could tell from the way I usually do feel bad anytime I gamble and lost all my funds, even when I've initially prepared that fun for gambling purposes alone.

So, in essence, I would say that pretty much anyone who is gambling is interested in winning money, but then, most still are living in the illusion that they are only gambling to have fun and not to make money, no body enjoys losing money I believe, and unless a person is already a multi millionaire or billionaire, I would say pretty much everyone who is gambling is doing so to win money.
On the moment that you would really be starting up on playing gambling and having those kind of mindset that you are really just that playing for fun, but on the moment that you would be experiencing
loses then these mindset or impression would really be changing up and this is something that will really be putting up into those conditions that you are already chasing up for profits. If you are someone
whose not really that good when it comes to self control then most likely you would really be putting up yourself into such potential condition that you would really be making those bad decisions
just because you are aiming that something which isnt really that possible.

Chasing loses is one of the main reasons on why gambling is really that profitable into its owners because people are really that believing that they could be able to do
so not until they would really be able to realize that it cant be just that possible all the time specially luck factor is something that is needed.

First of all, we don't like when we lose, right? Second of all, casinos give you the ability to double your bet via one click and make a bet via the second click, i.e. you have a chance to get everything back + make the profit of the same amount that you lost. The fact that you can do that via simple two clicks, pushes you to chase your loses. If it was hard to increase the bet, then believe me, many people would give up.
Overall, it's our natural way to stand up strong when we fall down. When we lose, we motivate ourselves to stand up and keep going via upgraded version of ourselves. There are also people who can't stand the fact that they lost.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
I've read once that people don't understand math because our brains are not made to comprehend large numbers or to visualize probability. We don't understand how low certain probabilities like 1:100k are.
There was also a test where they asked people to associate containers and vehicles like a bag, backpack, car, truck with certain amounts of money like 1 million dollars, 1 billion dollars and so on and people did not think they'd need a truck to fit all that because we can't visualize high amounts of anything. We have to se it first to know how much is there. So people chase losses because they think that every loss gets them closer to winning, or that it has to balance itself out and if they gott 10 losses in a row they'll now get 10 wins.

It is obvious that when you continue to lose in anything that you are doing you will not rest until you achieve something from the thing you are doing so relating it to gambling so it is obvious that whoever that is into gambling and always participate in gambling that much will you like to chase his losses, because the thinking that only one of their winning can recover whatever thing they have spent in gambling so that is why you see many people is always anxious or conscious of betting more immediately then losing gambling and that is what makes some people to become addicted in gambling based on there are chasing their loss
This is very common for gamblers who chase their losses at the gambling table, they want to continue playing in order to minimize their previous losses. It's best if the funds allocated from their salary have been used up at the gambling table, it's best to stop and not continue again, this will make you experience far more losses than before. You need to control your emotions and restrain yourself from continuing. Your mind is no longer clear when it comes to spending allocations for gambling funds.

Yay what you suggest is indeed good, namely that it is better to choose to stop and not continue gambling to minimize the possibility of losing a much larger amount, but what we must understand is that people when they are in a hot situation or emotions usually they are really very difficult to be able to think rationally to make decisions that are really right in certain situations, or simply they cannot control their emotions especially if the intention and purpose of gambling is to make a living, then it is clear that it is only natural that they always act to chase their losses in order to restore something that has been lost. But however it is an idea that in the end as you said which will only make them experience a greater amount of loss, but yes as I said above that they are really difficult to ignore the emotions in themselves so they do not hesitate to do things even though these actions will only lead them to a much worse situation, and most likely they will usually only stop when they have run out of all the money.

Gamblers often chase losses due to psychological factors and cognitive biases. One reason is the "near-miss effect" where the gambler feels that they were close to winning and are motivated to keep playing.

Another reason is the "gambler's fallacy" where people believe that previous losses increase their chances of winning in the future.

Gamblers may experience the "sunk cost fallacy" where they feel compelled to continue gambling to recover their losses. These psychological and cognitive biases can lead to irrational behaviour and a persistent pursuit of losses.
