To me it really depends on how far society has adapted to bitcoin. If, in the future I can pay for everything with bitcoin, there's not need to sell or exchange my bitcoins.
People mainly exchange and sell because they need fiat and bitcoin is not acceptable as payment.

That's pretty unpredictable as we don't have a clear picture of what's gonna happen in future with Bitcoin but one thing for sure if it becomes mainstream then target value of $1000 is like a drop in ocean so it's always advisable to have enough BTC saved for future.

I can agree with this. Rather than making quick decisions, thinking short-term is always a loss but keeping that bitcoins in wallet for a long time is always a win. Because you never know what can happen and plus you don't have use the bitcoin in your wallet.

If people can beat the urge of spending bitcoin, I'm sure they will profit in long-term.

OP for me there is something on which you're wrong.

Yes we will convert btc to fiat money. Why wouldn't we? You can't live with btc, it's uneasy, unpractical, impossible in fact.
And the most important thing is: You're paid in FIAT!
Maybe some of you have a btc income but for most people, we're paid in $ or € or £ or anything but in fiat money.

As long as my income is in fiat money, bitcoin won't be able to replace it. And I'll always convert btc to fiat if I got the feeling that btc is going to be less stable for a time.

Now I understand the Op's thoughts. Spending bitcoin directly is the only way for not selling it. But main stream kind of adoption only will give desired effects of do not sell bitcoin concept. If the merchants sell all their bitcoins in exchange then there is no meaning only we are spending bitcoins.

As per the OP, you never will be needed to sell your bitcoins. Instead of selling, you will find many spending offers for your bitcoins like one satoshis equivalent to one dollar.

It's in our hand. It will happen in very near future if you will not sell your coins, it will happen in 2016 itself also.

If you want better price for your bitcoins, then just save it. If we never attempt to sell our bitcoins it means we are helping bitcoin community to get vale appreciations of bitcoins. But 2016 is too irony for one dollar per one satoshi.

well i kind of disagree although i think bitcoin is a good investing thing but not all things can be bought through bitcoin until this point

also in my country doesnt accept bitcoin as payment yet, and there are no store with bitcoin atm machine nor accepting bitcoin

so exchange into fiat currency will be answer to buy things in here

My hopes and reasoning make me to believe in one price higher than that but 10K is a dangerous one. I probably will sell... Or not... Who knows...

But everybody expect the best for BTC. It reached $1,200 on Jan 2014.
Who know it will reached @1,200 back someday.

(A lot countries accept BTC as their online market payment) we live in online era btw.

i believe that if alot of merchants start accepting bitcoin it will raise awareness to the consumers and the demand would increase making the price increase aswell. countries promoting bitcoin would have the same effect.

merchants also followe the people, if there is no enough demand, there will not be enough merchants, it's a circle, that someone must start before it can skyrocket

i believe that you need rich people at first that trow some money in it, to feed everyone else
