Aitcoin will definitely survive. Different altcoins have their basic qualities that bitcoin does not have. These qualities are the reason why they will survive. As at now, from coinmarketcap.com list, aitcoin has been giving bitcoin a run for its life.

I think there is sufficient space in this ecosystem for several altcoins to exist - especially those altcoins which actually bring something valuable. The useless ones are only useful for short term profits.

Actually nothing happen with altcoin and strong altcoin stay stable. Its looking like downtrend because we see the price in bitcoin pair. Lets try to see it fiat or usd pair, it will look normal. Not so correct.
Altcoins will survive - some of them are much faster to use - but the big number will deflate and some will just wither and die. But who will die?
Some of the altcoins will survive because people need to invest their money and want some good trades and exchange rates. Just like other altcoins, they are rising and as much as possible they want to continue their project for them to also benefit themselves (referring to the developers). Altcoins is a must and it will never leave the market. However altcoins these days are very competent and had the hidden rule of 'Survival of the Fittest'.
Alts survival does not depend on Bitcoin, and bitcoin going up does not mean alts will go down. there is a market for all of them.
alt coins will drive the crypto currency since they add different features in the pre existing one and continuing innovating much more on tech.

People will stop trading the scamcoins in the end. However it would help if they exchanges delisted this crap!
Only those who have a good community, solid project and good team behind the project will endure the bullish trend of bitcoin. Those who have no solid project will decrease its value in terms of bitcoin value.

yes you are right, even now etherum continues to rise and make etehrum as the strongest altcoin. and I think it will continue to survive.

I think this year is the year for altcoins, you can see almost all altcoins price increase in this year. Especially ethereum the price is really big today. Altcoins will keep survive, even bitcoin fall, altcoins will stay remain. The demand of altcoins is increasing though.
Many altcoins are made with a different purpose in mind. It all depends on how hard the developers or the team work to keep the project active and in the market. Looking at the current trend altcoins have a really good future, but if they want to sustain it the people behind the creation of these coins have to put the effort to make the coin survive in the market by constantly upgrading the tech and continuously marketing them.
