Is this some kind of joke,Etherum or litecoin replacing bitcoin .Let me tell you one if bitcoin is to doom one day i am certain that the rest of the coins will bomb with it. Only with the existence of bitcoin we will enjoy the perks of crypto currency

At this moment it is not very likely that Bitcoin could be replaced by some other cryptocurrency. Many have tried and new cryptocurrency are poping up each day but so far without bigger success. But that stil doesn't mean that sometimes in the distant future some new cryptocurrency will not be invented, even more perfect and developed then Bitcoin.

But we can't actually picture out what would that be because it's something that would be thought of by someone in the far future. Bitcoin still has some flaws like the transaction time. Altcoins already have fixed this problem but people aren't still migrating into using altcoins mainly. Bitcoin has become so strong that even if altcoins are able to surpass it in some ways, people would still choose bitcoins for investment and as a currency.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

That's not going to be happen for now. Though there is a possibility to be happen if the price of the altcoin will increase more than the price value like what bitcoin's had now.

I don't think we are that point yet, maybe in the future a new coin will appear that is so good that we need to use it as the new standard against every other crypto is compared against but that is simply not the case right now.
I am not too sure, bitcoin is the most trushted cryptocurrency. So I do not think that will be happen. Even popular altcoin can not replace bitcoin.

Unfortunately no one will be able to predict the future accurately. As long as crypto currency concerns, I do not think there will be a possibility for another crypto currency to replace bitcoins.

I mean to say there would be some other new technology which is better than cryptography, a new currency based on that new technology maybe a threat to bitcoins.

because of th hard fork  it is very unlikely that bitcoins will be replaced by any other cryptocurrency .this is not going to happen in the future run .well it may rise more than bitcoins but i think it will be for a few amount of time .i the last bitcoins will always rule the world.
Bitcoin is just always good only for alternative payment processor and it is impossible that some altcoin can replace bitcoin since we already using it and many company are accepting bitcoin  i research even few hours ago that where i am buying some unlock codes for smart phones i notice the site where i am buying and paying using paypal now i am seeing they are accepting bitcoin and they are using 3rd party like gocoin for payment bitcoin processing..

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

It is only natural for bitcoin to improve and be replaced with better technology. It might still be blockchain technology but it would be improved. Everything grows up and gets better it is the way of life.

I think bitcoin will ever be evolving keeping its throne as king of cryptocurrencies.  There are lots of contenders but they failed in one category, even if they are better in technology.  This is the user base, people adoption.  If they beat the number of people adopting bitcoin then that would be the time that bitcoin can be replaced by another cryptocurrency.

mh... no. Bitcoin have brothers, but it will not be replaced. just my thought
I would recommend you to write longer comments if you really wish to join some good campaign.
But I am agree that bitcoin will be replaced by some other crypto currency. Bitcoin is the most known and the most stronger from any crypto. The possible future of bitcoin that I can predict is that bitcoin will swallow some other crypto and it will be only the one crypto currency with some one name.

Of course. Nothing last forever. People wont stop inventing. Zcash may do it

ZCash may do it. It can be used as a transparent currency like the bitcoin. It can be as anonymous as Monero.
Zcash ? I remember people did say here same thing when Dash was introduced and then ETH now Zcash. Altcoins will come and go. This is what happening since litecoin. Altcoins may serve just one particular purposes at a time and people do start forgetting them once they see new one arrives.

We can be sure that new innovative altcoins definitely will designed in upcoming days and people will adopt them and will forget them. Bitcoin will stay strong among these.
yes, altcoins will come and go, but in order to stick more or less or even to overcome bitcoin they will need two things. first they have to be significantly and undoubtful better then bitcoin and secondly they will only be in the spotlight if there is a serious problem with bitcoin and people will look for alternatives. even then it will be a hard thing to do.

That was my thought before but recently due to the current events on bitcoin industry such as the IRS and Coinbase setting up a customer records wherein they could monitor your transactions and the big company Circle who left bitcoin behind and transferred to paypal and paymaya, my mind has changed. I am not thinking that if many events like this will happen again and people will lost their trust to bitcoin then for sure another altcoin will takeover.
this is a thing i could see going one way or the other. if bitcoin becomes regulated extensively in the leading countries, then this could be the hour of an altcoin emerging to take over the crypto world. but there is also a very good chance that this regulation will a way of accepting bitcoin by government and also by the mainstream and making bitcoin so huge that it will be hard for any altcoin to overtake bitcoin in the next coming years.

In terms of features, the 2.0 crypto currencies do offer more, and according to certain people also better features, but so far none of them came even close to Bitcoin. Another point is that there is no need for coins with more/"better" features. Look at Ethereum for example, certain people have said that it will be the Bitcoin killer due to all its functionalities. But if you look closely, then these features are nothing more than gimmicks. It's great to gain attention from people looking to invest money into ETH, but it doesn't enjoy real world usage. Why? Because Bitcoin offers people exactly what they are looking for. In that regard, it's fairly safe to assume that there will never be an altcoin gaining enough momentum to come close to Bitcoin. Altcoins will only function as a speculative tool for gamblers.
better then bitcoin does not mean necessarily smarter (like the smart contract thin ethereum offers) or some features. adding to much complexity is most of the time a trade off with security or something. but you can improve transaction numbers per second, confirmation time, size of the chain and more. but this is easy to say and hard to make.
