I doubt that , however there might be a currency that will do very well more than bitcoin , e.g in fiat world where you have different currencies doing very well

I think ETH can pass bitcoin because they have a good coin...
DASH is a promissing coin too however I don't think dash can replace btc.

It is quite possible to be replaced by another coin if that coin has a more active community to support it.
Yes, it is possible i think. but i don't think anyone would support an altcoin over bitcoin. bitcoin is massive and is been used for long time.

Bitcoin will only be replace by another cryptocurrency if this cryptocurrency will be able to surpass Bitcoins current features and price. But at this time whenever i look into a new crypto currency most of them are copies of Bitcoin only , They are creating new alt coins but they uses Bitcoin as the benchmark. Also check those new alt coins the price drops very fast unlike Bitcoin the longer it survive the higher the price it can reach.

Bitcoin has huge investment as huge support, to replace the king they need to copy it and improve it, even doing such doesnt mean that the copy can replace or hit bitcoin into it.
we live in a world where change can come quickly and it would be a bit of an pain in the a**, but let us say there is a substantial flaw discovered in bitcoin, but we have another coin lined up to pick up right away. 2-3 months would be enough to replace bitcoin.
I do agree that one attention can be taken away from something and then be placed into another really fast nowadays. That's why the social trends only last for days. Maybe the same thing might apply to crypto-currencies but I think it's primarily just going on in altcoins. There's no substantial flaw in bitcoins. The only one is the occasional slow transactions but it's not enough reason for another altcoin to take over.
well there is no problem so far, but if the transactions would double every day, then we would have a problem quite fast. or or maybe someone finds a small exploit and makes some serious damage. not very likely, but this was so for many things that then happened anyway.

It's pretty clear that even if there are thousands of altcoins, there are only just a couple of them that are really competing in the market. Altcoins are seen by the whales as something that they pump and dump for profit. Altcoins are seen by traders as something they can buy at a low price, then sell at a high price. Altcoin for the developers is something that they leave whenever they finish collecting the money from the investors, honestly.

That's why bitcoin can never be replaced by another crypto-currency or altcoin. It's something bitcoin users just use to make more bitcoins.

Time will come in the future that bitcoin will not be supported by the people but we should not wish for that to happen. What we need now is to support bitcoin with the best that we can and to make this more progressive, if something comes up to replace bitcoin then I will just jump as long as it's profitable.
its crypto so from time to time they will try to create one another but like you i will keep supporting btc while adoption is really on progress just in case there's a replacement happen i will also invest with it but i will never leave btc as i see much bigger feature in the long run.

you can not look only on the profit. the technology is whats gives a coin its value. if you have a bad or corrupt technology you can still make money, but on the long run you will fail. so look out for value not profit. different coins might bring a different value and coexist.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

There is the possibility Bitcoin may be replaced, especially if the quantity is lost on dead addresses.  However, in the current use of Bitcoin, there are still the matter of projects using Bitcoin as a foundation for development.  Projects that create a positive image can also leave Bitcoin valuable support to how the public can have more use to cryptocurrency.  History of Bitcoin and what has been accomplished will still be there if it does get replaced.
How can there be a dead address for Bitcoin? When the owner forgot his/her password on his/her wallet? If that is the case retrieving it would be easy for the owner. Also it cannot affect on how it will be overtaken by another coin as quantity is not the only factor of altcoins to replace Bitcoin. There are many ICOs that happened during the past months all of them failed maybe necause on the part that Bitcoin is still thriving.

I dont think bitcoin can be replaced since it is the mother of the crypto world. Maybe in the future,  it can be innovated and improved but i dont think so it can be replaced to another cryptocurrency. It will be a lot of hardwork and time to be able to replace bitcoin.
The possibility is always there but we cannot say that possibility will happen easy, if you take a look on what bitcoin have already achieve you can tell that we have a strong foundation over here.

It take so long to reach this status and the longer it exist the more people trust it, so definitely it's hard for bitcoin to be replace for the new one.

Nothing is impossible, but it is a very hard job to replace bitcoin by any other crypto currency because bitcoin is pioneer in the crypto world. Bitcoin showed the world what crypto currency is.

So it will not be an easy task to replace the pioneer. But you never know.
For me i do not see any potential coin can replace bitcoin on the top of crypto currency also the value of bitcoin are continuous increasing and it would be more stronger in the near future.

Massive price drop coming...
Possible if -
1) More anonymity than bitcoin
2) Mining opportunities for individuals

I don't think this two option will replace bitcoin when it comes to mass adoption / or mostly used by masses .  The reason is that, the government wanted to regulate or at least trace transaction in order for them to detect money laundering and other illegal activities.  Life of a coin especially in its economic aspect is not on Mining alone.  It depends on the base users and legal merchants that adopted the cryptocurrency.  Bitcoin had already established this two things, besides bitcoin is starting to be recognized by authorities in some countries and it seems that more and more countries are taking notice of it.

For illegal Activites probably those two option will more likely replace bitcoins.
Sure the community and merchants may help to make the coin get interest and value, but be realistic, why bitcoin is being main crypto currencie? As i know its the only one where you can mine enought to roi in some period, others altcoins hasnt such potencial, bitcoin does worth such because its the first, the best and it has mining process under it making always pression.
Not only for that reason i think bitcoin is main because if there is no bitcoin there is no altcoin. and bitcoin is the largest coinmarket cap many investors are invest in bitcoin. but i saw ethereum has a potencial so if bitcoin will crash or down i think ethereum will be the next according to the rankings in coinmarketcap..
