Digital currency has clearly come to stay, it is already very popular, gaining global acceptance is the goal right now.. I am fully convinced it will be used more in the nearest future. It cannot take the place of fiat currency though.
I agree that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can replace real money but I don't think it will happen in the nearest future. Though acceptance of bitcoin is wide, yet not all people understand what bitcoin really is.

I think this will take a long time, because Bitcoin is now affected by small chunks, and transfer rates and fees are not suitable as a means of payment, but it does not mean that Bitcoin will be upgraded in the future, so it cannot be predicted.
I think that if Bitcoin will be improved, if it works out its disadvantages, then it has all the chances to replace real money. Bu nevertheless, I believe it will take a long time. 
It is only a matter of time that bitcoin will be accepted world wide, since there have been regulations taking over and that a lot of people are already aware that bitcoin is available and the interest seems to be going growing everyday, once bitcoin has been accepted by all countries, I see that there be a huge change with our current financial systems, people would rather choose to take care of their finances rsther than giving it to banks, since banks are always giving hidden fees in order to tske advantage of normal people, threy get tax breaks, and still get our money, once people realizes that bitcoin is decentralized and that you and only you need to manage your money, a lot of people will be financially free or at some point, equality to all, no rich, no poor.
I think so as well that it is only the matter of time. I believe that in several decades our financial system will be changed completely and digital money will be spread all over the world.
Increase adoption is what will make more popular than it is currently! Bitcoin popularity is increasing and there are positive opinion about bitcoin. DEA just release a statement that says more than 80% of bitcoin transaction is legal!
At the moment, Bitcoin still can't be used to trade for real goods in everywhere but I think it's really popular at the moment, you just need to go out and ask a random guy about BTC and I think everyone know about BTC and cryptocurrency

I agree with you that bitcoin has already beaten the popularity of real money. But I doubt that it will be able to replace real money at least in the nearest future. 
It will in the future but you are right, cash is kind of still king right now as I see that people value bitcoin with it's current price as dollar. However, Bitcoin is gaining and will be gaining more popularity as time goes by as it is being tested time and time again.

Bitcoin, as far as the main mining farms, does not have any intention of becoming a payment method, in fact it is trying to be a reserve value something like gold fro crypto.
Bitcoin Is already on the sixth largest and most influential currency in the word and if the countries of European Union like Germany star the mass adoption of the coin than the increased price value may allow bitcoin to to have more value than fiat
