It is not legal in my country since it is under developed country. My country is Nepal. Also, it is illegal to invest in foreign currency for individual except for the companies which require to do transaction in foreign currency and this also hinders the investment in bitcoin since it is quoted in dollars. In my opinion, some of the countries may legalize bitcoin in Southeast Asia and some will not. Only, time will tell about it.

Because to my knowledge there are several countries in southeast asia that have not legalized bitcoin.

I only know that in Asia only japan and south korea have legalized bitcoin, what are other countries in asia that have legalized bitcoin?

And what is our endeavor for bitcoin in southeast asia to be legal like any other country (which has legalized bitcoin).

to give lectures in schools and universities, create an organization to debate with the government to legalize bitcoin, are those actions that can produce good results

Of course there will be a negative effect to bitcoin if 1 country dont legalized the use of it or even trading because there are possible investor in that country that will lose his/her chance to be a part of it, But I believe that bitcoin will be accepted by the whole world in the near future.

for now it is possible that not all governments of a country accept bitcoin as a means of legitimate transactions but in the development of cryptocurrency it is not impossible that the future of southeast asia will legalize bitcoin, it also returns to the government authorities.

In future it is possible but not now ....some countries in south Asia , India, Bangladesh, srilanka, Pakistan, Nepal Bhutan etc countries governments don't accept bitcoin but people of those countries using bitcoin illegally.
this is how we can see that most of people that are wanted to have some chances of using this currency are making a way of it that they know how to make earning even that this is illegal on their country. Therefor they are just to be more honest on this currency.

I think in Southeast Asia for the nearest term bitcoin can not yet as a means of payment, but does not prohibit having bitcoin. So bitcoin is more as a commodity that can be stored or traded. For payment not allowed. But with the rapid development of the digital world (including digital currency), inevitably for the long term (10 or 20 years later) bitcoin can be accepted as a means of payment, of course with regulation tailored by each country.

Well bitcoin is not illegal here in the philippines. Bitcoin helped a lot of people here. Many users invested in bitcoin and became rich. Some business men are introducing bitcoin to some citizens for them to invest because they know that bitcoin has a great future and it will really help them a lot.

Illegal or not bitcoin will remain the same. So why do we bother if bitcoin is going to be legal?  We use bitcoin the become free from the control of the government. Any resistance to the government makes you a violator of their so called laws. Nonetheless, bitcoin will be legal only, if government gains control over it which is quite impossible.

Speaking to BItcoin, no one can claim to be legal. Just as no one asserts bitcoin is illegal.
It is legal to accept Bitcoin in transactions
It is not legal for countries that have not yet legally prescribed them.

I'm too from a south Asian country , Bitcoin is not illegal in here. But regulations have not set up for bitcoin. Actually what has happened is government have not pay there consideration for this as they see only a few transactions in these countries yet.

We need to give some credit off time to those people, to allow cryptocurrency in your country it is not the easiest decision that principles can make, so you need to overlook bitcoin and all the sides and all the opinions, make a proper decision about it, it takes time.

interest in southeast asia is immense about crypto.
I do not think it's legal or not, but how about growth and acceptance of crypto in every country, because I know a lot of countries that reject crypto there.

I live here in the Philippines (which is part of SEA region) and I'm proud to say that dealing with cryptos are allowed here. Yeah! I know that it is not yet completely legalize here but this still means a good sign for us because I don't see our government stands a strong opposition against blockchain technology Smiley. Knowing this fact, it really feels good and I'm looking forward on what good things could happen next.

All that is needed to take advantage of digital currencies is access to a smartphone — which is already extremely common in Southeast Asia. I hope there will be changes soon in this region and public will be given access.
