They will try to ban it but I think that they can't do it unless they can turn off the internet. What will happen if the internet dies??? I don't known. Wink

If you are initially considering this situation, then why buy them at all. Think for yourself, you initially know the reason why they are subject to increased attention from the government...
You don't have to buy them all, you just need to have a wise choice on what privacy coins you should buy.

It seems to me that, if possible, the government will fight anonymity in the cryptocurrency, because it is anonymity that will not earn the government any money.
But seems like this way the government will find a difficult way to fight this thing. Let say for some people who has known that bitcoin is not has a high anonymity so as they can track every transaction that has made by its citizens. But there is a way to avoid it by the users, someone can still anonymity and can hide all their asset from the government such as mixing service and store their money to the assets which has a high anonymity such as monero or doge. It's a usesless thing for the government to fight this matters, it would be good if they find another factors and learn how positive cryptocurrency and make start-up related to it so as for those people who still hide their assets can be aware and support what the goverment do.

It is only the matter of time until crypto currencies will get mass adopted. The problem is that governments need to track all the movements in this industry and they will have a serious fight against the major anonymous currencies like XMR.
They are using centralized way like forced exchange site to apply KYC but the privacy coin will always exist and there is no way for them to prevent someone to create a personal transaction.
Basically, the government can't track any personal transaction.

Omicron is another FUD
it seems like a year ago governments in many countries have declared war on cryptocurrencies and said cryptocurrencies is illegal, and this does not have a profound effect on cryptocurrencies.  so don't worry about investing in crypto currencies and making long-term investments because in the future they (the government) will accept the existence of cryptocurrencies and will not ban the cryptocurrency  Grin

The fact that governments try to suppress privacy coins is precisely what gives them a use case - they are untrackable, making efforts to ban them futile. However, not having government approval could affect their value for investors.

I don't think government can do that even if they wish to do. You should not forget that the ideology of cryptocurrency is decentralization and a system that don't have centralized control will be very hard to ban indefinitely.

I'm considering to buy and hold some privacy coins for long term. I read some articles and they said governments are taking harsh stances on privacy coins. Do you think they will ban all privacy cryptocurrencies by prohibiting exchanges to list those coins?

I don't think it's possible that the government can control the flow of cryptocurrency in their country. So if you fear that the government may interfere on you investment in cryptocurrency, then do it with VPN in your connection so that it cannot be easily traced. Anonymity of crypto investment is what makes it unique that even government will make a hard time to trace every user of it.

They might not be able to control the flow of cryptocurrency in their country, but they can make it a crime to invest or hold crypto, and if so, you might be punished for it if they find out.

Most likely, the governments of some countries will take steps to ensure that people connected with crypto report on their assets and explain how and from where they are in their stock exchange accounts.  The whole essence and interest of cryptocurrency is decentralization, if there is centralization and access to personal assets is open, the whole essence of moving coins around the world without tax credits is lost.

It doesn't look like government will block or ban cryptocurrency now that every thing crypto is shaping up for good and government must have learnt about how cryptocurrency can change the life of many people in the world ,even banks and bigger companies are joining us so crypto future looks certainty

No, I don't think all governments will ban the cryptocurrency. Some governments have negative thoughts about cryptocurrency. But some governments support cryptocurrency. And in my own opinion, crytpocurrency will be legal in the whole world instead of being banned in the future. And i think, some governments will create their own crypto coins and some of them will support decentralized crypto tokens in some governments.
in fact all countries recognize that cryptocurrency is a very good modern technology to be developed, from its decentralized nature so that cryptocurrency cannot be centralized in one country. Therefore, most countries cannot formalize cryptocurrency to be used freely, but fully the government cannot prohibit being able to use cryptocurrency because as time goes by digital technology is one of the modern technologies that many people must know.

Thus the word 'decentralized' rings a bell to you? Of cos not ,privacy coins can't ever get banned ,its never going to happen and to me privacy coins are the best and they will perform better in future that's why we are seeing better privacy coins these days ,in my opinion they are better than monero

This is a very sensitive topic. Because the public sector actually has nothing useful, because there are really very serious opportunities for the shadow business. It is necessary to think so that it would be beneficial for everyone.

True.

It is impossible to ban. But will be less options to buy and sell for fiat. Well, people will always find ways...

Well, they can prohibit their trading on official crypto exchanges, but that does not mean that they will not be used anymore. In addition, they will become a payment method for any kind of shady/illegal business. Any contact with licensed exchange is connected with some kind of KYC: either you give those information while registering or they can still track you down by your IP. It means exchanges gives state authorities power to track cash flow (or at least a part of it), people or companies involved in it and I doubt that they will take down this feature  Wink.

In general, the government is unprincipled cryptocurrency. Because they lose control of the situation. And we understand that. Needless to say, every single country wants to take control of the cryptocurrency in its region. But of course, coins have a form of water and it's not that easy to do it.

It is physically not possible.
They can not ban anything that is out of their control. They can only ban some use case like using cryptocurrencies as a payment method etc. But if you buy and keep them, no one government can withdraw them from you.

Go ahead and buy some.

Prefer main currencies like BTC, ETH. Smth that you can always sell.
