Another day, another hack.  Basically My Ether Wallet was hacked via the chrome extension hola.  At this point it isn't known how many users have been affected or how many tokens have been lost.

https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/07/10/mew-hack-hola/

So my question to you is will you still use MEW?  Do you think it is their responsibility what happened?  The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one?  I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.
Im still using Myetherwallet until now inspite of the hack happen yet i havent being affected to those exploit and i dont know why people do think that MEW should be blamed of why they do lose coins without even thinking or consider that anything online can be exploited or being tagged by malicious things that can hacker can possibly apply and this is what happen on MEW which do make use of a VPN extension to get informations for those users and since im not a fan on using VPN for now my coins are still intact into my wallet.

Nope, there's a better option for now that support all Erc 20 tokens which is Imtoken, nice layout and gives notifications for incoming and outgoing tokens, and has a great security platforms that is better than mew

I don't know the tech part of this attack but as I think it's the hole in VPN which people use. For me MEW it's the most interesting platform for holding my tokens.

of course I will use MEW, because of every project or the average of all projects using MEW as well. because of that I will mengguankanya. but for the problem of peretesan, it is the responsibility of each MEW holder. so advice from me if still want to use MEW better be careful in every what you click or do in chrome.

Until now, I still use MEW. Fortunately, no problems have occurred to me. I have to use more metamask. It's good for security. In addition, you must know how to secure your account. The knowledge is very important, do not use any application or utility that you think it can steal your data.

The MEW is still very potential for the Token ERC-20. Although recent times the MEW is often attacked but can not deny the convenience and speed of this e-wallet. I usually use MEW to store Token of ICO bounty, and rarely have any bugs or problems occur. So I still use MEW and carefully bookmark the website to avoid the fake site.

Nice Question you have there  Cheesy

Base on my current experience the problem with online wallets is that they can be attack by DDOS or DNS attacks into there server
you can use mycrypto if you want to but the mere fact is that try avoid doing this procedures:
1. Try not to access your private key in internet browsers
2. try not to use keystore file wallet
3. try using a hardware wallet to access your crypto funds it is not well handy but you will have higher chance to be safe
4. try not to store all your funds in a single wallet.

I hope this helps alot Smiley
Thank you for bring up this concern

I left MyEtherwallet in February 2018 yet. And no regrets. I found some other reliable services which can be used for keeping my Ethereum coins. First of all I am saying about Metamask. There are some other wallets also.

yes, I still use MEW for all alt wallets. even investing in ico always include mew as a wallet platform. regarding hacking that happened to MEW, I think it has been a long time. and a few months ago there was hacking to get through the google dns network. try to learn and telurusuri so you can understand.

MEW is the problem for me.
The problem is using addons - extensions and some other software also porn sites.
They all has security issues so use mew offline or with ledger wallet.

I will still use it because of MEW because I am so familiar with it and the transaction is easier. If the security of the wallet MEW significantly reduced, I would use cold wallet. But I think the MEW wallet is really good and it always improves. I trust it because I have not been hacked for 2 years. Grin

I don't think it's a good idea to use other Google Chrome add-ons when using a cryptocurrency wallet. Now it is the easiest and fastest way to lose all your money. Be careful and always remember that in this world there are a lot of people who devote their lives to theft.

How can this be considered MEW's fault? The wallet is very reliable and secure. But the application for Google Chrome can not be called such. I understand this, thats why I do not use anything in my browser except metamask. Easy and simple. Blame only yourself.

I sometimes dont get it when people say they have lost some tokens when using MEW. The people themselves will always advice you to use my metamask, just that people will not often listen. Moreover, there are a lot of dangerous extensions that can expose you to hackers.

No,  I abandoned mew long time ago around last year,  it's not secured, it's loopholes are much,  I make use of imtoken,  it's a bit secure than mew, I think mew developer needs to improve security wise in their wallet

You are totally WRONG. MyEtherWallet was not hacked. The problem come from Hola extension.

My suggestion:

Never install any extensions in your Chrome browser if you use it for financial purposes (login to MyEtherWallet, other crypto wallets or crypto exchanges)

Yes, and I will always use It. I think it is not the myetherwallet was the problem but it is in hola as you already mentioned. I bookmark Myetherwallet in my phone and since the first day of my using until now I never had a problem. You should be careful next time or if you want to become more safe use metamask.
