Don't use extensions like VPN and that's problem! your data can be leacked! MEW have nothing to do with security and i will still be using MEW, but it would be nice if buterin added google authentification or another method to prevent such situation

I like that answer and the solution which is answered the first person who recommends using Metamask. But I have some confusion to use it without going MEW I can't transfer the ERC20 token. I don't know what do I miss any features of Metamask to send without going MEW site.

Yes, I still uses MEW. For mobile phone users like me, I prefer to use it because we are not able to have metamask wallet on our phone that says to be safe. I just being careful on links that I will enter my private key so that my account won't be compromised.

Another day, another hack.  Basically My Ether Wallet was hacked via the chrome extension hola.  At this point it isn't known how many users have been affected or how many tokens have been lost.

https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/07/10/mew-hack-hola/

So my question to you is will you still use MEW?  Do you think it is their responsibility what happened?  The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one?  I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.
Unfortunately for those who use Hola. Hola is a free IP fake software, recently got a message from MEW about Hola hacking the MEW account. This is because the developer Hola tried to steal information from the utility. Nothing related to MEW. I still choose to use MEW. I have not encountered any hacked cases yet

I have not had a problem with MEW. But I've heard complaints from most people. All tokens in your wallets are stolen. This is a huge problem ,I'm still using it,I did not investigate another option.but now I'm starting to think. I hope no one is affected any more.Keeping your private key private is so important to be careful

Until your private key are in safe place your mew account will never be hack and your altcoin inside them are safe & cannot stolen by anyone, mew is one of the popular eth based wallet and untill now Im using this wallet to hold my altcoin, if you are using this wallet you need to understand how this wallet work.

For me MEW is the best wallet to keep your token. You need to make sure that you have multiple backups, stored in separate locations, of your private key + password. This will prevent loss in case your computer crashes or your house burns down or anything else.

You also need to ensure you keep these keys securely. This means:

1. Don't enter it on random websites.
2. Always ensure you are on the correct site or downloading from the legitimate repo / website.
3. Don't email your key, send it to anyone or post it online.
4. Don't save it to cloud storage.
5. Don't have Team Viewer or other remote access software on your computer.

Yes, I still use MEW, because it seems to me that this is the only project that has already shown itself very seriously, this project will always be very popular, because I have not seen it better.

It was not MEW that was hacked. It was a shitty VPN called Hola.

Will I still use MyEtherWallet? OF COURSE YES. This is the main source or the main wallet I am clearly using. Are my funds safe and sound? YES. It is up to the user whether you want to protect your funds or not, it's like using a protection. Use metamask for more protection or use mew only but be careful everytime you're using MEW. MEW is really up for hacks, the security system is not that high for hackers to hack the system itself. Here's what you're gonna do:
  • check the twitter if there were possible attacks
  • Check the website URL if it's correct
And you're good to go! Pass funds, cash in funds, you can do it.

Everyone who claims that the MEW wallet was hacked - did not understand the situation. The MEW has never been hacked. DNS was hacked, but the MEW is almost impossible to hack because the MEW is actually just an electronic database.

MEW does not responsible if you install some freeware on to your browser, you need to stay away from everything and better to use separate computer for crypto currency usage and go offline whenever there is no need.So I will still use MEW because the problem is not from MEW it is from us who gave access to some third party application to read and modify our settings.

Yeah, it's by far the easiest to use. I keep anything big or anything that I'm holding long term offline though.

Yes I will just be careful if you want to be more secure use Metamask. Metamask will detect phising site so that you will be safe to it. And if you want to be more secure just create a mew wallet don't use your real wallet just send and transfer you want to sell or to get.
It is suggested if indeed you have more money to buy a trezor wallet because it is for now this good wallet is trezor and nano s. I already feel the hack by using mew

2 of my MEW wallets were hacked with a difference of 2 months. It's disgusting and unpleasant. I do not even know which channel has leaked information about the keys. I believe that MEW has been discrediting itself for a long time. Hold funds on MEW - do not respect yourself.
from personal experience, I think hackers send email to us and we are told to follow the link to open the wallet. then he keeps our privatkey in their web phishing. indeed many such incidents happened, I also lost an asset of about $ 2000 in MEW wallet a year ago because i follow the phising email to log in to my wallet. That's my bad experience Cry

I also used MEW with no problems, i think users got hacked due to unaware of any circumstances of installing any unfamiliar software with contains spyware, i suggest that users must install protective anti spyware and anti malware tools to avoid any leak of your accounts, don't blame MEW for your lost, it is in the users responsibility to protect there data.
