i like windows 7 but windows 10 is free

I just checked kat.cr and they are exactly the same price.

 Cheesy brilliant.
You could try a free (as in freedom) operating system like Debian.

Windows 10 has been very stable once I was able to fix the lingering driver issues. Had forgotten to update the Audio drivers and had some crash issues when waking from sleep due to that. Once updated, everything is working fine now Cheesy

Windows 7 is stable, stay with it.
And after all, we have 8 months more to change for free to W10.

Hello,

Using Windows 7 64b

I was trying to download via Ubuntu to make a secure wallet key etc but was getting error.

so now I wonder if downloading it directly from windows is not smart but necessary.

If your laptop is compatible with Linux consider ripping Windows off and installing Ubuntu instead.

Ubuntu still has some privacy issues (sending search data to Amazon). Why not take a dive and try something different like Gentoo or Arch?

If you only have one computer, choose to use Windows, and care about Microsoft's invasion of your privacy you should be running Windows 7 until end of life with automatic updates turned off. When update Tuesday rolls around wait a week and do a search to find out which updates you should avoid. Assume Microsoft is going to try to push Windows 10 on you any way they can. If your laptop is compatible with Linux consider ripping Windows off and installing Ubuntu instead.
