Use MtGox, in fact let others control my money.

In what scenario would you not have to let someone control your money though? Untill you have the coins in a wallet of your own or have them stored some other way you would've have to went through a bank account and a processor like Bitstamp or mtGox, it's pretty unavoidable. And aside from taking pretty large fees it's not like you're going to get screwed over by the larger processors, well, aside from what happened with MtGox.

I've made a multitude of mis-investments over the years, which is a shame but I still got out of BTC with a nice profit overall. I cashed out a decent amount of my bitcoin right before a major price increase, could've had 7k$. I also pulled out my shares in that one big mining company ages ago, which I forgot the name of. The shares did something ridiclous like triple in price and I could've had a lot of money from that.

Many years ago, i read an article about bitcoin and tried to mine some with my old pc... This was near the beginning of the bitcoin revolution...

I cannot even remember if i found any blocks, but i'm sure i don't have the wallet anymore (the pc i used to mine is long gone... probably stripped apart for precious metals).
If i would have continued to mine, and helt my coins untill they reached $1000+/BTC, i would have been rich...

Well, it's not really a mistake, just a case of not being able to look into the future  Grin

The worst mistake I have ever made with bitcoin is not holding onto the hundreds that I had at one time. I ceased my usage of bitcoin for a couple years and really missed out on a good chunk of cash.
I have learned my lesson and I'm building my stash back up slowly, but I'll never forgive myself for missing out on a small fortune.

my worst mistake was when i invested in hashprofit for mining and reinvesting the daily profit of mining and at last the site closed and scammed, another mistake was played casino and lost the balance saving, now i am just gathering the bitcoins, no other work.

HashProfit? I heard of it before but never invested any Bitcoin into it. I hope that this experience will remind you not to invest any Bitcoin (and fiat) into suspicious websites. I also hope that you will regroup your lost Bitcoin soon. Bit-x signature campaign is actually really good and you should be able to regroup them sometime later.

My worst mistake was buying really crap altcoins. A lot of my friends told me to invest in altcoins and I lost quite a bit of money from this. I also did quite a bit of gambling and this also lost me a lot of money.

Haha. I also tried to invest in Altcoin. For the first few days, I gained some profit. The next few days, I lost more than I gained. I am not going to buy and sell Altcoin for profit anymore. I am just going to buy and hold Altcoin which I believe that the price will increase, for instance Hyper.

Gambled away a few btc when the price was at its peak, and then went ahead and repurchased them at the highest price.

I have sold some Bitcoins at $300ish before week or so. Bought at $200ish so i make good profit but i could do lot better.

Sounds like irrelevant to topic as the thread was about mistakes and I can see that you made the right thing and made a profit with it. Nice job anyway. Smiley

Well, from my point of view it looks like stupid mistake. It was my first try to short Bitcoin and it is failure. Buying back right now and hope that will not lead to another post in this thread lol. I am not some expirienced trader.

I sold most of my coins when the exchange rate was going on at $220-240. The volume was also very large, as I offloaded more than half of my coins. Sold around 20 coins for $4,500. Now the exchange rate is going at $370-380. That means that I lost at least $3,000. Feels bad.. but things like this happen in life quite frequently.

The worst I can remember was while I was trading Bitcoins and later the price increased. I remember moving them to what is called uphold now, and locked my funds there to prevent volatility, but later noticed the price rose a bit.  It wasn't much of a loss, but a few dollars in Bitcoin was always worth. Trading always has it's consequences.

I haven't been using bitcoins for long time. So, I haven't done or found any mistakes with bitcoins yet.
I haven't also seen others doing any mistake. But, there are some things which I think are done wrong with bitcoins, these aren't mistakes but these are evil-minded things which are so much frustrating.
(1) Usage of bitcoins for dealing drugs-- usage of drugs isn't good that's an understood thing but it's trade continues worldwide illegally.
(2) For porn industries-- now, porn is banned in many countries, so dealing in local currency is an open invitation to police. So, bitcoins have become their currency for payment. Now, there aren't mistakes, but they must be stopped as they are detaining the name of BTC.
