Yes, probably yes. Government cannot control that, they can just ban the servers running Bitcoin Core, and that'd be privacy violation so I guess not. Afaik it'd be the first "software" banned.

Your country may be your worst enemy
I'm really surprised by the results. I have changed countries several times and I don't consider the banning of BTC as a valid reason to move. I'll just keep on using BTC illegally. Considering I've been working illegally in 8 different countries so far, I don't see that as a big deal.

Governments cannot control everything. They've never controlled me.

If bitcoin in my country would become illegal, I would continue to use it. Our government is too stupid to track who is using bitcoins. They earlier tried to disable acsess of sports betting websites which not registered in our country, but everyone know how to reach such websites. Government have plans to block torrent websites, but we are laughing at they plans. So, if they would ban bitcoin, I can't imagine how would catch bitcoin users.

Common laws are there to be obeyed for the good of us all, for example.  do not kill, do not steal, do not give false witness.  these are just laws..... but do not use Bitcoin so that the fat banksters can rape the average joe then nah root you...... those are laws that i love to disobey

GATCOIN : The New Currency Of Digital Marketing
As we know, some country banned bitcoin and it's illegal to use/own bitcoin there. But, i see some people who still use bitcoin even they know the risk.
So, would you keep use Bitcoin if government says bitcoin is illegal in your country? Even if they could spy you on internet?

If that really happened my country (i hope it won't happen), i would still use bitcoin, but i would use tor browser and paid/trusted VPN to do any bitcoin activity.

More info (might be not up to date) :
1. Legality of bitcoin by country
2. Is Bitcoin Legal?
I have invested a lots of money in bitcoin and I also regularly keep converting bitcoin to fiat and get payment in bank.It would virtually put me to bankruptcy but beaing a law abiding citizen,i would abondon all my bitcoin and if I get time to sell them all before ban come into enforcement,I woukd do so

I answered " what is government " because as a teenager who lived in a country governed by dirty dying old politicians who look at the new generation as a threat to their depressing system, I used from my childhood to revolute to their oppression and I don't wait for any good change from them :
They banned YouTube : we use proxy
They banned social networks : we use the Tor browser
They don't give us access to international cards : we use Bitcoin and other ways
They ban Bitcoin  (after understanding what is it) : we will find a way to throw their pow papers and continue to use it  Wink

Are you talking about Turkey as this is the only country in the world which has banned youtube so far to my knowledge. They banned social networks after some revolts happened there. What ever they try to do they cannot oppress you as long as you have bitcoin. Now it remains only one thing which needs to be cleared here and that is how will you convert bitcoin in cash and receive it since the government has made so much restrictions. The only way is to sell bitcoin locally but that is very dangerous given the situation described by you.

The ban of Youtube & social networks is pretty common here in Pakistan & in Arabian countries.

Now for the topic, I'd keep using bitcoin if government makes it illegal until and unless there is extreme restriction, which is probably not gonna happen.

I would probably keep using Bitcoin in my country even if it was outlawed, because that would probably mean that the government is starting to flex some of their powers and, if it is coupled with other events throughout the world, it might mean that there is something else going on behind the scenes and something might be coming up and brewing within the geopolitical climate. That is something that would be an incredibly scary event (in the right conditions, for me anyways).

Well, one of the things you could do, is to safe up some Bitcoins for work you do, and then go for a holiday of a life time, in a country where it is accepted. The nice thing is, you can cross borders with

any amount of Bitcoin, without having to declare a bunch of fiat/cash. You can enter these other countries and exchange Bitcoin for cash and you set to go. You can buy your accommodation and pay

for your transport from the comfort of your house, and nobody will know. It gives you some freedom, not offered with other options out there..  Roll Eyes

If it does get declared as illegal, I will probably stop. I am not gonna take a chance and get caught, especially since our President's quite scary. : Duterte : Also, once it gets declared as illegal, it'll be difficult to use, especially for payments, selling into fiat, etc. What would I do with it if I can't actually buy anything here. (since local coin exchange will close.) I am not gonna pay costly international delivery fees.
Anyway, not gonna take a chance with our President.

Yes, if the government of my country made bitcoin illegal, I would definitely continue to hodl, accumulate and use it.  I don't want to end up like those in Cyprus who had their money locked up and were left at the mercy of their government as far as their money was concerned if something similar happened in my country.

This will depend whether its just bitcoin. if using other altcoin is still legal, i guess i won't stop still.
I'd probably just hide or use my laptop to connect to some other wifi connection maybe on the coffee shop and form there i will do my bitcoin transactions.

Since I entered bitcoin world, still the info listed under my county hasn't changed but it doesn't make sense at all for me in the first palce.

Anyways on-topic, I will still use bitcoin although all services that I want will now be wrecked. If ever bitcoin will become illegal here in my country, all local exchanger will shut down their services hence converting bitcoin to fiat will now become a hassle one. And aside from that, local exchangers here has some services that we can able to use our bitcoin directly by any means. It will also be gone once bitcoin will become prohibited here in my country.

no i'll keep using it, mining is anonymous enough it's not that easy to find someone mining with few gpu, you can also buy from private outside your country to avoid trouble, but you also mean that they will arrest you if you are caught? like in venezuela?

The advantage of bitcoin is that even if the government ban it in your country, you can still use it online. No one can ban bitcoin and hopefully it will be legalized very soon globally.

Yes, I probably would continue to keep and try to accumulate/use bitcoin. For the simple reason that I trust bitcoin more than I trust my government. Though, to be fair, at that point, I probably would also be investing in lead, sulfur, saltpeter, and maybe wood.
