OK, the fact that his pledge ends in 10 months should say all that needs to be said.

Maybe it would be her birthday or something. Anyway its pretty weird project but some if crazy people donate to be godfathers and this happen for real imagine the news "Couple name their Child Satoshi Bitcoin" , "First Bitcoin Baby" etc

I am pretty surprised most people answer so easily yes. Would you like everybody to know that you name your kid Satoshi Bitcoin? Your face and your kid face will be everywhere its not so simple!

But how does he know it's a girl if it hasn't even been conceived?

It's not like it's not a common name in some places so I can not see any reason why I would not name my child Satoshi. Getting 150 bitcoins to do it would be amazing but I would not rule out using this name because I wanted to either and no just for bitcoins.

My daughter will be giving birth to a boy in the next 4-6 weeks and for 150 bitcoins she would name it the same, lol. I mean, put those coins in the babies account for all the hell she might go thru, but why not?

Really though, I doubt they will get too many supporters. After looking thru that site, not too many get funded..

Those that wouldn't obviously have too much money.
Giving a child a name like that because you can profit from it is not an instance of being financially smart but being greedy, imagine a world where product paid for names, there would be little McDonalds and Tacobells running around everywhere.

It is a real first name. If I met a Western looking child with a Japanese first name I would just assume he was born over there (maybe his parents were on an expat assignment).
It's a real name that will be forever Associated with a product/ currency, McDonald is a last name but if you meet someone with the last name you've probably associated them with it. (A kid back in highschool had that name and everyone called him Ronald McDonald)

There is no problem in naming kids as satoshi if I am provided 150 BTC. I can spend 1 btc on the ways to calm others down..about why I named them so Smiley

The story about this project is pretty bizarre and i was wondering about ethical issues raised! If someone give you 150 btc would you?

Would be stupid not to accept deal like this.

Can always change name after the baby grow up.

You lead and I'll watch you walk away.
I'd name my kid fuckhead for $75,000. I'd reserve some of that money for a name change later.

Satoshi is better than most entertainer baby names.

Frank Zappa named his kids Dweezil (son) Ahmet Emuukha Rodan (son) Moon Unit (daughter) Diva Muffin (daughter)

Sylvester Stallone hated his kid so much he called it Sage Moonblood (daughter)

Stacy "Fergi" Ferguson proved that she was stoned out of her mind all through her pregnancy by naming her kid Axl Jack. Fergi reported in an interview that she's picked out a name for her next kid. She's going to name it after her father Crescent Wrench.
