Why not, u can always change the name back to something else if it turns out to be a problem, or you realise that you dont like it as much.
150 bitcoins is a large sum, even with todays prices. I know i would name my kid for that, in the end its not a bad name afterall.

cheers

I know you can change your name as an adult, but are you allowed to change your child's name? How much does it cost if you can? I know women have a nightmare changing all their official documents after they get married and get a new name. They need a new passport, bank account details, etc. If you change your child's name what would go on its birth certificate?

Son: Dad, why did you name me Satoshi?
Dad: I was poor and needed Bitcoins. I gambled them away anyways

Satoshi will become such a common name in the future that they will look back upon this thread like a 10,000 bitcoin pizza.

I am currently in Eastern Europe recruiting a surrogate for triplets. They will be called Shitcoin, Rapecoin and the final one will be named 5K4utxoydqvBCtJBqVsGkuXZjsqEqVaM5cnmTBJtmWKFSHDoZAG after the private key that paid for all of them.

I won't be asking for payment from anyone for this wonderful project.

I would check with the mother too, but the answer is yes. What a way to start juniors college fund.  Smiley
Some names people are giving their children is insanely stupid and nobody pays for it. How can you name your kid North West? So Satoshi is pretty decent name to begin with. But you need to need to consult it with your significant other first. After all giving name to your child important for both of you.
Too bad in my case I won't be able to claim reward, because I don't have any offsprings.

No way, no matter how much money. I am from China, there is impossible for me to name my baby with a Japanese name, if I do this, the baby's future will be ruined if we still live in China. Because most of Chinese people don't like Japanese for the history reason.
Thats sad to hear
Fighting and wars have always existed from clubbing each other with animal bones to atomic bombs.
Who really wins?

Be funny as fuck if China and Japan joined forces, teams switch sides more often than not.

If there is a boxing match China v Japan then bankers will make sure a generation or two are fucked over with more debt.

First of all, satoshi is a name from Japanese, yes you would if you want your children to be a "Japanese", it might cause some unexpected troubles in his life I guess.

https://bitcoinstarter.com/projects/946

The story about this project is pretty bizarre and i was wondering about ethical issues raised! If someone give you 150 btc would you?

I think Bitcoinstarter.com is down. I wonder how much money they raise from it? We can see there are a lot of people who are willing to change their name for way less than 150 Bitcoin. It's a failed kickstarter but nice try.

If somebody pay me 10 Bitcoin I would change my name (I don't have a baby so I can't name it).

You would legally change your name given to you buy your parents for less than $3000? If you are being honest i feel a little sorry for you dude you must need that pretty bad. Do we know how much it raised before it went down? I would of thought it would raise dust why would anyone pay someone to name their child Satoshi. I agree failed from the start.

To answer original question with a big no i would not name my baby for someone else's money i find it kind of annoying that there are people that would  but each to their own.
