Loose lips sink sigs!
What's unethical about getting paid to name your kid?

There might be a moral question but I don't think ethics has anything to do with it unless the money you're being given is stolen or laundered.

Give your child a name in order to earn money it is foolish and wrong. My answer is NO.
but for a normal name you would get 45000 dollars

The story about this project is pretty bizarre and i was wondering about ethical issues raised! If someone give you 150 btc would you?

I sure would.  Just because that's his legal name, doesn't mean you can't call him/her another name.  There was a local radio station contest, and a guy changed his legal name to Heywood Jablome. It was on 99.3 CFOX. Can't remember what he won, but I really doubt he goes by that name now.  Even at today's rate, that would be a great start to a college fund.

Pretty sure you can change your babies name at a later point, or at the very least you can do when you're older. Satoshi isn't even a bad name though obviously sounds Japanese but people name their kids names from different cultures or countries all the time.

Then your birth certificate wouldn't have Satoshi on it Undecided.

I wouldn't name him/her Satoshi (her Huh) even for a million btc.

Hmm actually...

Why would you entrust that to a total stranger?

Good point.

I would change my name for 150 bitcoins.

Nobody pledged so far

I really didn't like this part:

Pledge 20.00000000 Ƀ or more
You will be her godfarher/godmother thus you will be able to attend to her official naming ceremony and speak her name first.

A godparent is supposed to be someone who will look after your child in case you no longer can.

Why would you entrust that to a total stranger?

I think "Toshi" is a better name than Satoshi...if you are truly going to name your kid that.   I think you can only pull off Satoshi if you are Japanese...
Is this the guy you're referring to?

It's the only Toshi I know! Besides, I guess that'd be the natural nickname you'd give someone called Satoshi.

Satoshi is a perfectly normal Japanese name, but those fellas want to name her Satoshi Bitcoin. Let's hope that kids she'll have to deal with will be gentle.  Shocked

I think satoshis can be either male or female right ?
