Would the people actually use Libra should it be approved by the congress?
IMO.. many people will use Libra if the congress approves it because Facebook is social media with the largest number of users in the world.  the Libra project has caused a stir especially in my country, in some local news in many Libra countries it has been reported and made many ordinary people curious about what Libra is!!
With more news rolling out related to libra common people who haven't known anything about libra and other cryptocurrencies too have begun to explore and know better about it. Mark has planned to use it without any issues, for this each and every user will experience the convenience and usage as it gets ease of accessibility.

There is even more negative news regarding Libra, and now I am very skeptical about this currency ever getting released. Mark Zuckerberg has set several conditions for the roll out of Libra. He recently stated that Libra will not be listed anywhere in the world, unless it gets the necessary permissions from all of the American regulators. And this may be one of the reasons behind the bearish trends for Bitcoin, which has lost 30% of its value during the last 3 months. BTW, Galaxy Digital reported losses of $68 million for its 3rd quarter and claimed that the uncertainty surrounding Libra played a large part in the losses.

Well I'm having quite a hard time figuring out where to use it in the first place. Bitcoin, Ethereum and other more established coins don't even have that much is today. Probably when the time comes that crypto is accepted and understood, and it integrated in society, we'll be able to answer these kind of questions. There are still a lot of things to be worked out for Libra's actual use and for people to accept it.
Even though Facebook already has a name and name in the world, I think it will take time for LIBRA to be trusted by the crypto community and traders,
but most likely LIBRA will be in the top 100 coinmarketcap Wink
People do not trust Facebook even now or more correctly, those who are well aware of its security breaches and people like Edward Snowden definitely use all platforms with care but still the majority does not think about privacy as they should. LIBRA will definitely get high consumption and support because most of the people will simply use it as some new feature or product from Mark.

^^ If you find that scary, way worse then that is monitoring of voice is what I've heard.   People who spoken of buying something to a friend had that then advertised after discussing it privately.    In theory every avenue possible is monitored and used, the idea behind Libra is simple and its adding the data of the raw transactions done to that flow of information on the consumer.   I believe Yahoo will read private emails to gain similar type of information and they do display this clause openly, its a known thing so not illegal in theory.   They can justify expenses for running the network if have this constant subsidy to the bottom line of Facebook data sales I guess.
I find the project interesting and we cant be that surprised they will use data in this way, loyalty cards for example are doing a similar thing and its all voluntary.    I hope it goes ahead so long as people know what they are involved with.

Really as a FB user after the last year incident of selling the Fb data my trust from Fb has reduced significantly and now might not believe much u their coins too . Instead will continue to invest in best of the altcoins and bitcoins.
I am facebook user and it is sad to know that they are injecting tracking cookies to our browser and let that harvest our information soon to be sold to their advertisement partners. This is why all ads you/we see is related to our recent searches for anything. Now talking about their upcoming coin, I really doubt we can have what we need with our privacy at large in expense of using their coin. Facebook already had enough with our data, guess its time not to let them do it again, even if they tell us such promising words.

If Facebook want to go ahead with the Libra project, then no one can stop them from doing that.

They can withhold a bank license I guess, something along those lines.    Just exchanging data isnt illegal but governments have got upset with the idea people have been allowed to exchange value without giving them a cut of every transaction as is the case with conventional paper money issued centrally.
It seems increasingly likely we will all get a taste of the Chinese model of capital control if governments are funded by inflation then by necessity it'll start to be the case we confiscate capital not just not the idea of income taxes.   I think Elizabeth Warren states this idea explicitly but it doesn't especially matter as its already in the lay of the land now and as a trend.   This is the consequence of excessive debts and uncontrolled spending fiscally to win votes, float politics, etc.

They want the same thing for money and spending as they already do with your family connections.  They want information to sell and target advertising at you based on personal information you wouldn't otherwise freely give so if you like donuts every Tuesday, they want to know that so it can be added to their file on you.

That's the advantage of Libra that many people will become aware and more trust them, there is nothing wrong with that, but we should also remember as an investor, there is more unlikely to create income thru Libra as we are all aware that this is only stable coin so most likely the Libra's core team will have an advantage on it.

I don't think so. Although it is a startup that is considered to easily become a unicorn, it operates in a decentralized market and has no legal guarantees. This will help manipulators and our market will become worse and worse. moreover, the consequences that Libra may cause to the US economy could be money laundering. When transactions are stored on the blockchain and it is impossible to prove who transferred or received, the law cannot be investigated. Those are the reasons why the US government should ban Libra.

While at this point it should be obvious that the Libra project is never going to be released you are really underestimating the power that Facebook has, I'm pretty sure that the billions of people that are using Facebook every single day will have no problem using the Libra coin and adopting it just because Facebook is behind it, that is precisely the reason why governments refused to support the Libra project because they thought it was a legitimate threat to their power.

If Facebook want to go ahead with the Libra project, then no one can stop them from doing that. But some of the recent statements from Mark Zuckerberg and David Marcus are creating doubt in the minds of those who intended to use this currency. Zuckerberg leaped in to cryptocurrency market without studying the market in detail. He wanted to use the hype surrounding the cryptocurrency to prop up Facebook. But things turned out to be more difficult than what he expected. I have a feeling that right now he is looking for a honorable exit from this project.

i dont think i will because the first place this is stable coin and i have nothing use of that so basically not for the first place.
I don't think I will use Libra coin in the future if it is issued. because facebook is free and only people who need ads pay for them. means that I don't need to use my libra and it has no effect in my work. so I still use USDT to trade.
absolutely mate, and besides there are tons of currency that is already established so for what that libre must be needed.

Like the games that we play on Facebook will start accepting payments in Libra and all the other money dealings will be actually carried out with the help of Facebook’s very own digital currency. The bill will be passed. The coin is highly centralized and utilizing it does not make sense at all. Anyone who loves his freedom and privacy, will invest in bitcoin or ethereum. But this kind is again a rare one.

Even if they accept Libra, they will be accepting the other payment modes as well (such as PayPal, Visa, Master.etc). So my question is how they will make the users prefer Libra over the other options? Libra is a new payment method and at least initially the vast majority of the users may not be comfortable in using it. So unless they give some good promotional offers, no one is going to use Libra.

The coin libra is just a plan from the founder of facebook, Mr.Zuckerberg. It was a good intention that they are trying to invest only for making their coins, if they release a reasonable market value of the libra, I think it may be accessible and becomes on the top three of all cryptocurrency. The libra will release this coming 2020, and if the bitcoin is not very stable on that kind of price, the community will try to invest in the libra is my prediction. I will try to invest in libra too because if it is profitable, why not to try? There is a lot of news update for the coming of the new coins if it will beat the altcoins or the king of the coins, the bitcoin.

They have a Midas Touch, it seems anything they touch will turn to gold, they have a long plan and preparation for it, so they will not launch something that will look useless in the eyes of the people, we will never see the potential of one project if it's not yet promoted, once it is approved and they have the go signal, they will go full blast in promoting and launching a lot of products for their coin.
