Hi Guys,

Just a quick message.

Once we have sorted the Android App it will be back on.
I'll have more time shortly.
Getting coin will get harder.
Bots will have less success too.

Strange, yet attractive.
I really want this coin to succeed. I loved it since the day 1! I too concur that Greg should implement an online hot wallet or faucet that the android app will draw coins from there.

I also propose a lower distribution factor from now on. Scarcity will work its way towards a better exchange price.

Nah, there's currently a problem. It took a while to implement the security measures I proposed, and someone else caught on to the vulnerabilities they'd patch up. As far as I can tell, someone made a program that literally just tells the server "give me money now" and it'll do so. Every last GCoin gets removed as soon as they're added to the server's wallet, and when the server wallet is empty it refuses to let anyone play. That's when you get the "servers are currently down" message.

The biggest problem is that this hack is pretty much the natural endgame of the whole security/hacking struggle. Because the Android game is played locally, not on a server, it's impossible to verify that the person is actually playing the game or just faking it with forged requests. The web casino and my Breakout clone should be immune to this as they're played on a server. I don't know if the Tron game will be local or serverside.

One possible solution is to just make the Android version communicate with the same server as the web casino. In that case, you won't be able to play while disconnected from the internet, but hackers will not be able to fake it as easily. Combined with a few anti-botting measures, that should avoid this kind of problem for quite a while, or forever.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Added an HP bar, only for the current player: since there can be more than one opponent, the health of other players will be shown on a minimap of sorts.

Hi Dekker,

This is looking great.

Could this hacker steal from android wallets Greg?

Hi Macsga

I doubt it. I wouldn't store any large amount of money on an Android wallet.
I'd send it to a Windows wallet for sure. I've never read that an Android wallet
has been hacked.

I've pm'd you with my issue. I think something has been broken through the restore procedure. Anyway.

no more or less risk.

A little non-visual update on my game: it seems it might take 2 weeks before I can properly integrate it with the same accounts that the online casino uses, but until then I'll still be doing some stuff.

I am currently working to add some actual gameplay mechanics (a way to win and lose, mostly), so I can set up a version on a server for some semi-longterm testing. I am absolutely sure that there'll be at least a few things I forgot to fix, so the first test will obviously be limited... but, things are chugging along.

But of course, I can't resist being a little tease. So here's a little tidbit: we'll probably have plenty of game maps to play on, and more can be added whenever. The maps aren't hardcoded, they're loaded from a quite flexible file format. And it'll only get more versatile over time. Perhaps this might even mean supporting player-made maps as an easy and common way for players to contribute and add to the fun. Perhaps.

Technical details: currently the map format supports blocky walls in any size, position and orientation, breakable bricks in any position and orientation, and you can set a skybox texture, and define areas where a player can move their bat or where balls are considered "lost" and the corresponding player loses a life. Any number of players and balls can be added.

Hi Dekker3D,

This sounds like a very exciting game Smiley
Looking forward to having a try ...

You're too funny there madmat:-)

Not much of a gambling man, I will wait for Tron or the other games coming.  Dice game looks really good though, props!
