And how can i get version 0.8.8.6 from git?

You'd add "git checkout v0.8.8.6" after cloning/pulling.

Pretty simple. Thanks and sorry for that "easy to google" question.

Hi,

does anybody know where to get the 0.8.8.6 source?
The actual git version (0.8.8.7) does not work with the latest blockchain.bin.

Thanks.

It's in git. Be aware that the current blockchain format is platform specific, so you might have a version for another platform that the one you're running on.

Companies must be complicit in this. Cell phones spy on us, Smart TVs spy on us. Smart Appliances spy on us, Smart Meters spy on us. It just keeps going. Hell even a LED light can now spy on you.
And it will be worse once IoT will be transparent-blockchain powered. Hence the need to port Monero for IoT.
The value of pprivacy:

Oh, one more thing: in our blockchain-powered internet of things future (IBM, Szabo], opaque blockchain would help avoiding the pervasive monitoring Snowden revealed to us. You would certainly not want every burglar to know when you are home just by scannng the blockchain, right? Just give the viewkey to selected devices and you’re fine.

If you had watched the video correctly, your assertion is wrong, a LED light can not spy on you.
What is shown in this video is that a LED can transmit by light signal, the sound recorded with a microphone!

So LED is not recording any sound by itself, just a media to transmit (leak) the sound signal recorded by other way.

If it runs propriety software one should not trust it and assume that it will spy. If it supports DRM then it is almost guaranteed to spy.

Yeah, I read the entire document and I can't help but want to ditch Win.
Too bad I love to play a few games that only run on it.
VM's?

I put it in a sandbox. VMs can work in some cases. The key here is to never trust it.

I have been trying to build the blockchain branch on a 32bit debian wheezy with this result. Can anybody help? I used libboost1.53 compiled from source.

The blockchain branch currently will not work on 32 bit. There are some fixes on the master for 32 bit builds, but even if you merged those, LMDB requires a large address space (though not large physical RAM) and won't work. We are planning to add a secondary database implementation (probably bdb) for small-address-space platforms but that will come later.
