The developers of this coin were the major sponsors of that GUI wallet project.

There is nothing wrong with third party wallets. Having multiple wallets to serve different audiences is a good thing. All of the major wallets for Bitcoin are third party, including Electrum, Multibit, Mycelium, Blockchain.info, etc.

The developers sponsored it, decided it wasn't good enough and then started making a new one from scratch. The new one has been in development for many months.

I took that as an indication of no confidence from the development team.

It will be astonishing if there could be a way to side-embed this with bitcoin (decentralized), or at least conjugate their payment terminals to each other (centralizd). Any idea?

Improved payer privacy,
e.g.
the ring signature scheme used by Monero, can reduce the
systemic risk of the transactions of particular parties being censored, protecting the fungibility
of the cryptocurrency. Improvements to this have been suggested by Maxwell and Poelstra
[MP14, Poe14b] and Back[Bac13a], which would allow for even greater privacy. Today,
400
ring signatures can be used with Monero coins, but not bitcoins; sidechains would avoid this
exclusivity.

In the last couple of days I was invited to explain cryptos to the Euro Banking Association.
A dozen of high-level deleguates from different institutions and European countries were there. I did mention the large potential impact of Monero in the future.  Wink

Nice work!

BTW, if someone want me to store coins on a Linux computer, you can ask me.
I'll ask 1% as fees (min 10 XMR).
As an individual (not as a core team member), I vouch for superesistant. You can trust him. I can even financially back up his claim (up to a certain amount of XMR, I don't have that much).
(thanks for the link to erights.org, aminorex)
In the early days of mining when his pool was having issues I lost a VERY significant payout that was hard to verify (required trust of multiple parties), he quickly resolved it and paid out in full. I still mine there today because of how well he treated a bad situation. +1 to trusting superresistant.

Thanks for your trust both of you.
I had one request to hold 2 years. That's a very long time.
I accepted as he was the first to ask but for all others, the contract is 1 year max.
For longer, we'll have to negotiate.
Also, no more than 5000 XMR per person (negotiable but I don't recommended to send that much money).

I wrote a user guide for the MoneroClient.net GUI https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-monerox-a-cross-platform-graphical-account-manager-for-monero-683365 wallet a few months ago, its a bit out of date now but noone's complained that it is too complicated Smiley

My more general "Idiot's Guide to Monero" is still a work in progress, I have to summon the strength to deconstruct ring signatures etc into language the average user can understand, without incurring the censure of gmaxwell for misrepresenting basic principles.

Thank you, I was looking for a guide to get started with the GUI wallet.  Smiley

Someone on that thread is asking for ELI5 so would you mind pointing to your guide or even updating it if necessary?

The link to the guide is in the OP of the thread, I'll try and have a look through it soon and make sure its up to date.

There is NO Freedom without Privacy
I am not FUDing  Huh Huh  It might be as obvious as "dumpprivkey" is in QT is to me now to some people, but it's still a learning process. Anyways thanks for providing the tip to the community.

I feel you. It looked very complicated to me at first, too. I've never seen an easy Monero wallet guide for newbies. I don't blame anybody, but this is one of the reasons why people hesitate to use Monero.
I used the Monero website, there's a tutorial with pictures. https://monerotalk.org/t/bounty-create-a-useful-tutorial-on-how-to-setup-monero-closed/13
That was my first experiance with anything besides QT and wasn't that hard. It might look a little intimidating but really besides getting the blockchain synced it should only take about five minutes. Hopefully there is a more intuitive wallet in the future but for now once you spend a few minutes with the tutorial it gets the job done.
