For those who experiment crashing because RAM+swap partition is not large enough for the blockchain plus other apps, I 've written a tutorial: https://forum.monero.cc/5/support/74/increase-swap-space-for-blockchain.

I have tested using swap on Linux and it works fairly well. Other than during blockchain loads/saves, the amount of swapping is minimal (most of the blockchain is untouched most of the time, so it doesn't need to be swapped in). At the time (about a month ago) I was able to successfully use the wallet on a system with 1.5 GB of physical RAM, though it was sluggish but usable. As usage grows the minimal amount of RAM required will also likely increase, bit this is only at a rate of a few MB per day currently.

Was XMR being traded as a pair during the short run of "v2"? If not then that's a good thing as people were duplicating coins via an exploit and I assume tons of coins were lost that way.

Yeah, no new information about XMR withdrawals. Just hope for the best, think the worst.

One issue now is that "Alex Green" is the only one who controls the withdraws and apparently he's gone AWOL. Sad

Lets hope he's not a complete asshole and he makes sure people get their money back.

So our Mintpal XMR's gone or not? Huh Embarrassed

MintPal Withdrawals

Balances that were not stored with Moolah have not been subject to the same exploit.

As of so far, MintPal has processed 2597 BTC worth of altcoin withdrawals since the platform was fully shut down. A large number of withdrawals (both BTC and altcoin) were processed prior to this event.

XMR withdrawals will follow shortly.

Some funds are floating around in the old wallets (having failed to be imported), and I am currently trying to reclaim these in order to strength exchange reserves.

Withdrawals will continue to be processed until all wallets are depleted.

Is there anyone that withdrew their XMR succesfully? There was some speculation bytheway that Mintpal's XMR were sold off on poloniex.

Just did isolated test using latest pool software and 1.2b version of this miner. Duplicates spotted in logs immediately:

So what's your point? Leaving aside moral matters.

I double resistant's post. Running monero pool is very expensive and such crappy software made it much more expensive. I didn't count ignorants who running a pool and can't understand a difference between valid share or trusted one.

Many legit miners still mining this coin and it's not good for everyone if they will be screwed by fake PoW and loose money. I know some miners in person and I feel some responsibility.

I suppose you could classify stealing shares (and therefore XMR) from other miners as immoral, and therefore if morality is no concern for you then feel free to use it and accept the consequences. Personally I would be concerned about using software with a demonstrably immoral history unless I could validate the source very carefully.

The point is that those duplicate-shares are spamming pools with crap data which has a cost for us pool owner (high server load) + those fake-shares are counted as legit (trust-exploit) on some pool (not on my pool, I just ban them) which steal the hashrate from legit miners (number of blocks found is the same but fake-shares take a % of gain from other miners).

Guys, it seems some suspicious russian proprietary miner kachur is very popular already. I'd like to say that this mining software proven SCAM. I banned several miners after I found duplicate share vulnerability and all miners spotted in logs with attempt to submit duplicate share were using this software. Stay away from not trusted developers, there is no even BCT thread for this miner.

If you are trusted person, we can test this miner in isolation, I'll run test pool and can give you early binaries, because after vulnerability fix they probably deleted duplicate submission functionality.

1.2b!? Roll Eyes ..... 1.4 (faster+ low fee than Claymore 9.1) came out week ago...i suggest you to use 1.1 or 1.0 its more funn  Grin

Funny how ignorants will stay till death on their own. Initial idea was kminer testing against exploiting pools. I did it. It does not matter what future versions does.

My wife and I are going to be in LA next week, and I'd like to have a little meetup for any Moneroers in the area on Wednesday, October 29th.

Details and discussion can be had here: https://forum.monero.cc/14/events/70/fluffypony-s-los-angeles-monero-meetup

forum.monero.cc won't allow me to login, due to inactivity.  it would be nice to have a contact link on the front page.
Due to inactivity? Is is about the Web of Trust part? If yes then you can just skip it entirely (and complete it later)

i registered when the site opened. i logged in once or twice and have been offline since.  now login attempts report that my account is inactive and refuse me.

We don't have any functionality that would do that, but I see your account is marked as unconfirmed. Did you receive the email confirmation? Use this: https://forum.monero.cc/user/resend-activation and then you can reactivate it, and we'll check what caused you to become "unactivated" (probably someone fiddling on the forum administrator side)

Money often costs too much.
@correosdelbosque, do you need any help setting things up like wallet, or registering on a reputated exchange website?
just feel free to ask.

BTW: when I do see the pools listed, the one I use is missing (does 25% of net hash, it's the one where the attack packages been injected). Any reason against re-adding?
