Hi all!

I've been mining MNR on moneropool.com using the easyminer - no block found for 20 hours there, that's ok...
Anyway, I see easyminer created file called wallet (don't see the extension of it, what is it? ) wallet.address and wallet.keys... So i copied the wallet file and tried to load it in simplewallet and it can't be loaded with it, is it the way it should work?

Thanks in advance.

so, i'm on moneropool.org, a block was found, theoretically i should receive my share, right?

now the tricky stuff.. i downloaded the blockchain, placed it in the appropriate folder. next i start bitmonerod.exe?

since it does stuff (synching the blockchain?) i'll just let it run for a while.

later i'll just start simplewallet.exe and type "balance". am i correct?

yep. but although i dont know about windows i think "balance" should be "refresh"

I made a simple Digital Ocean guide for pool mining. It should work for most Debian distros too. However i am not sure how stable miner or pools are. For example i am getting failed to call rpc command after 2 tries error...

how do you transfer mro.

i want to send mro is this how

transfer 0 476vSXvkSEP9EjwiDDUS4Q86absLKEeYVg4piy6bpQLnUXoNwMbx1qQUjUxPg79TxUdyArDL6uukgWu LQkz4WaNFVhvAgVf 0.05

where 0 is the mixin count; what is the result if i do not put a number here. is it the minimum of 10.
0.05 is the amount to be sent.

is the above correct
I'm pretty sure you have to specify the mixin count. That looks correct.

He can use a mixing count of 0. The problem is the space in your adress betweeen WU and LQ. It happens everytime you copy paste an adress from bitcointalk (i think ?). I dont know if the devs can correct this, but its very annoying Sad

Yes, every time you post on btctalk it will do this. If you want to make it appear as it should you can use code brackets

Code:
476vSXvkSEP9EjwiDDUS4Q86absLKEeYVg4piy6bpQLnUXoNwMbx1qQUjUxPg79TxUdyArDL6uukgWuLQkz4WaNFVhvAgVf

and it won't break up the address. I know there was talk of removing the whitespace automatically when copypasting in a GUI wallet, so they know about it for sure.

And the pools report last block found on network "about a minute ago", yet the pools themselves find nothing for hours or days. I have 5 CPU's mining with 95 H/s. What kind of setup is making up the rest of the hashing power? Maybe someone has sorted themselves out with a working GPU miner...

I figure its either:

  • A 20-30000 computer bot-net
  • Someone developed a gpu miner on the quiet
  • The pools are all reporting the wrong network data (I hope its this - but the rate of discovery of blocks by pools would suggest otherwise)

Is there a bounty for a GPU miner?

It's not a botnet. Its an admin with a lot of servers. So its someone who has invested a lot of money and hast costs to cover. I dont know if you guys realise but there wasnt a cryptocoin as exciting since Bitcoin. Thus, this project attracted a lot of people with CPU farms,  many Hero members and people with the skills to optimise code. What do you think would have happened if people had this awareness about crypto in 2009 ? People would have invested big money into mining. This is what is happening. I suggest that if you can't mine, or if you cant mine as much as you would like, buy and buy fast before you regret it.

According to the pool stats I'm putting out 39H/s.. but the concern is the network hash rate is huge.. 572KH/s.

Moneropool.org says 1.75 .. down from 2.x this morning..

moneropool.org is up to 2KHs, (average of 26Hs per user).  But that's still only 0.3% of the reported network rate of 575Khs.

So either a large botnet is mining, or someone's sitting quietly on a much more efficient miner and raking in MRO.

moneropool.org found a block 5 minutes ago. We were just having bad luck. The more that mine with us the more the good and bad luck cancel out.

Our block wasn't orphaned. Looks like longpolling works. Smiley

Ah strange, I compiled from sources recently and don't seem to have this issue.

If you launch simpleminer with a script (in terminal) you can do something like:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
#grep -c processor /proc/cpuinfo > numcores.txt

bash_suck_level=2001

while [ $bash_suck_level -ge 2000 ]; do
./simpleminer --pool-addr=198.199.79.100:5555 --login=[ADDRESS] --pass x

done;

This just puts it into an infinite loop of running simpleminer, so whenever it closes it gets launched again. Keep in mind that you still need to run 8 instances if you want 8 threads.

That did it! Thank you so much, I can actually leave the house now.  Cheesy

So looks like I'm averaging about 20h/s, could be higher with all 8 cores and not working simultaneously.

Should I take a shot at solo mining?

I went 4 days solo mining with maybe 70H/s and found no blocks. Difficulty up since then, so I'd say pool mining is the way forward

Thanks for your reply, but I only compiled it yesterday. It doesn't look like it's been updated since then.
I don't know enough to throw together a script but I'm sure it wouldn't take much - just something to automatically reconnect when the miner stops.
Maybe if someone more knowledgeable's having the same issue they'll rustle something up.

Good question - I just sorted out an ubuntu box to mine on, and then noticed the pools.  According to the pool stats I'm putting out 39H/s.. but the concern is the network hash rate is huge.. 572KH/s.

At this stage, it looks like solo mining isn't gonna work?
