My wallet won't sync. Running windows v0.11.1.0. And I had the version before this.  They start with getting 1,000 blocks... then just sits there..for hours. I tried running as administrator ... set_log 4....and nothing seems to work.
It sometimes shows in green I have 12 blocks left. Then it goes back to orange saying 92,000 blocks left and freezes there for a long time.
Any help plz?  Thx Smiley

Could you go to the Settings page and press Show status? Subsequently, post the full output here.

This? 5 seconds after I told it to connect to daemon.

EDIT: I'm running the latest version.

Note that the last line is the most recent line. If you press Show status again, is it still on block 1467526?
Here it is after 15 minutes open.

Height: 1474180/1535984 (96.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 501.68 MH/s, v6, update needed, 6(out)+1(in)

connections, uptime 0d 0h 0m 25s

Height: 1474220/1535984 (96.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 501.29 MH/s, v6, update needed, 10(out)+2(in)

connections, uptime 0d 0h 2m 37s

Height: 1474400/1535993 (96.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 520.68 MH/s, v6, update needed, 8(out)+2(in)

connections, uptime 0d 0h 15m 8s

Then it's still syncing properly. I'd advise to simply be patient and wait for the initial sync to complete. Note that catching up thereafter every few days (or every week) only takes insignificant amount of time.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
sorry that I'm interfering in the conversation about Monero. Tell me what are the chances of anonymous crypto currency Deeponion to become a serious competitor to Monero?
I think that anonymity will be in gold this year

First of all let me be very very clear about this, I am pulling that number straight out of my Ass. Smiley

I'm going to assume that there will be a spike when the main botnets get back online so we should be able to differentiate them at that point and the asics should not be able to get on at all so those 2 points should give us a rough idea of which is which and i'm sure there will be some overlap from botnets that react so quickly they won't be in the increase of the majority. So yeah, what you said. Smiley
Thanks for your tips. however, I would like to know which advantages that main botnets can bring to Monero networks. thanks in advance for your clues and your suggestions.

Apart of a few side issues. The botnet computers are no different to any others in the network. All securing it and contributing to the hash rate.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it

But how will you separate that number from the unknown potential asic's ?

Could you watch as the botnet suddenly comes back online we will see a step back up in unison?

XMR is a great coin to stake!!

I really love the stakes from SimplePosPool Daily stakes with Monero Coin !

The XMR is mostly dead .. and so with staking in a pool you can get free XMR!
My favorites to stake are: Xgox Coin, Dutch, Buzz, Lambo, Mutual, Vulcano, Phr, Bitb, Pivx, Stratis, Xgoxdark, and a lot of more because of the Proof of Stake no miners needed to get these lovely eXperience Points!

Love it!

1. I really haven't gotten the chance to explore yet but are the devs of popular mining software getting a head start on the new algo and have already released or are in the process of releasing appropriate versions in time for the HF?

2. Also, wouldn't the network be in a vulnerable state since there will be a "theoretical" (though not actual) zero network hash rate at some instance during the transition since not every miner will be switching to the new PoW at the same time; more like gradually ramping up towards whatever the highest network hash rate will be?

#2 The new software is backwards compatible, so you can run it as soon as its released, it may/will/probably take longer than 2 minutes to find a block after the switch due to a lower hashrate but the network will adjust itself after a certain amount of time

Hope everyone is well today.

It's interesting how much the hashrate will be decreased after the hardfork. Can we really go back to the old numbers. There will be no ASICs, there will be no part of botnets (since their mining software will not be updated immediately).
Is this true? I believe the hashrate would decrease a little thought but because of different minor reasons.

I'm going to take a guess and call it as 10% of the hash right before the spike in January right after the fork. This may be an opportunity to figure out (roughly) what percentage of hash botnets are.

But how will you separate that number from the unknown potential asic's ?

Could you watch as the botnet suddenly comes back online we will see a step back up in unison?

I'm hoping that Nvidia cards will suck at the new algo. [hand rubbing intensifies]
Why... AMD dominates the cryptonote type algo's now.  Smiley
