Sine secretum non libertas
As an experiment, to see how things have changed, I just took a few Monero and made market for 5 days.  That yeilded 23 bp per diem.  It's a high p sample size, but - hey - who can keep it up for a couple of months?  Anyhow, that is about one third of what the same strategy was yielding in mid 2016 to early 2017. For what it is worth. (But don't let the yeild confuse you: This is not a scalable strategy; the more you deploy, the lower the yield.  You can't just compound the rate. Compounded, it is more like sigmoidal than exponential growth.  If you want something more  scalable, go play EURUSD or USDJPY.)

Anyhow, the market appears, naively and prima facie, to be getting significantly more efficient. Which is good.  Now if only Bitcoin would become as efficient! Then XMR could well and truly moon.  This absurd BTC correlation must die eventually.

I got up this morning and it synced on node.xmr.bacb.one.  I don't know what was wrong with that node last night, or if monerujo had a problem.

But it still won't connect to node.moneroworld.com:18089, or node.viaxmr.com, or node.xmr.be:18081.  I did get it to work on na.node.moneroworld.com:18089.  So of the nodes listed at moneroworld.com, a bunch of them don't work?

a lot of the times its because the A record list is too big. If there are too many A records, the DNS server tries in TCP mode (instead of UDP), and some DNS servers don't do that well.

The node listing service at the top of moneroworld.com only returns 5 IPs at a time, from the larger list (currently around 30 on the 18089 port).

I can't get monerujo to sync.  I've tried several nodes.   Only one node connects, and it has a problem.
I'm using a Pixel XL android 8.1
When trying to sync with node.xmrbackb.one, the wallet says -26,416 Blocks remaining.  That's a NEGATIVE number.
As a test, I tried connecting to node.xmrbackb.one with my laptop.  The wallet has been synced recently.
I got this:
Code:
[wallet xxxxxx]: status
Refreshed 1504024/1476640, syncing, daemon RPC v1.13
It seems node.xmrbackb.one is behind.  And it's the only node monerujo connects to.
Clearing the app cache doesn't help.
Is the problem on my end or is it with the node?
This is worse than trying to navigate Penn Station in a wheelchair.

Mine loaded, then synced ~1000 blocks to current in seconds.

It looks like something great will happen with XMR! Of course the reason countless projects and coins are opting for cryptonote as algorithm! It isn't the main one, however, we know that XMR is the main coin along with BCN! Is it true that from here a few blocks, an error will be exposed?

Someone was asking who all this mysterious hashing power is. Here is an article saying that it's north korea Cheesy

https://news.sky.com/story/north-korean-hackers-mining-cryptocurrency-monero-11192924

Quote
A spin-off of the Lazarus Group - a hacking organisation which cybersecurity researchers have linked to North Korea - is developing malware as a method of generating money rather than stealing data.

The hacking unit, called Andariel, penetrated a server at a South Korean company last summer and used it to mine a cryptocurrency called Monero - one of the few digital currencies which is not based on Bitcoin.

Kwak Kyoung-ju, the head of a cybersecurity analysis group at the South Korean government-backed Financial Security Institute, said Andariel used the server to generate around $25,000 (£18,400) according to Bloomberg.

It has began.
People on Monero channel are talking about ONION.
To the Moon.
Yes DeepOnion is not as secure as Monero.
But it has potential. TOR is a brand name so for entry level user DeepOnion is a good place to hang out.
They have messaging system. DeepVault is working pretty good.
I have high hopes for Onion.
You can run Bitcoin or Monero through TOR. What exactly does DeepOnion bring to the table (other than airdrops)?

What is a pool though? just need the pool software and you can run one. So banning people is irrelevant, aside of inconvenience or more likely they don't want the criminal association.

There's more to a pool than just software, though.  You need to get people to mine with you.
So who here thinks the bot-herders are going to set up a pool of their own?
I mean, it's possible.  There are probably enough bot-herds to make a pool.  But is herding bot-herders like herding cats?

If you are a bot herder you can just use your own pool.  I am sure they set them up.

Yea but I bet even 10,000 iot devices or some very large number like that probably isn't enough to win enough blocks to feel comfortable operating without a pool.

I seen reports today that exploit malware is mining Monero covertly? Any one else know about this?

There is tons of this going on. It might be the vast majority of monero's hashrate for all we know. It isn't news.

Indeed, far from it. This has been known for a long time and only serves to strengthen Monero's network. I know certain pool owners have been banning suspected botnet accounts from running on their pools.

Can someone tell me anything about monero gold?
Of course, I got it from airdrop. gold monero still sat sweet in my wallet until now. the price of XMRG falls very far now, if i sell it now then i will not get anything. I can only hope gold monero will soon go to the moon.

Better yet, to Uranus.  And take its scammers with it.

Bitcoin Gold, Monero Gold, what's next, Litecoin Gold? Beyond ridiculous. Makes projects like Monero seem ever the more precious.

The depth of human stupidity never fails to astound and entertain.  Well, the greed, too Cheesy

't was a good read, made my morning better. I love to see scammers get caught, although these seem to be of the less intelligent ones Smiley
Some are too stupid even to steal. They've kept money on exchange LOL.
But I fail to understand who invest real money (or proper coins) into this kind of scams.

On the other side, more Monero Whatever coins are created, means more are aware that Monero is a strong coin and its name can make them money.
It's a sad trend, for Monero, for Bitcoin, for all the coins with the name used for schemes, but hey, there's no Dubaicoin Gold yet, isn't it? Cheesy

Those with more money than sense evidently. But it always poses the question; how did they acquire that money in the first place?

As as you say though, with reference to the Monero scam clones; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...  Cool
