Curious is the only reason XMR got a bump is because it is listed on a new exchange?

Is there any other reason ?

The listing wasn't the reason. Only the excuse.

Correct.
It's my first post to this forum, most likely not going to be the last.
I give you my personal opinion on why Monero is going to be big and post exponential gains over the medium term, regardless of where is currently being marketed:

Next year (2018 if you read this post in the future) almost all countries will have implemented the so called "Common Reporting Standard" (google it, and it's on wikipedia).
Actually many countries have already implemented it, but next year is the year where most of the "tax heavens" will implement it; see full list of countries coming on board in 2018 on wiki.
So, in short, what this means is that tax heaven will not exist any more, or at least not as we know it today. Everything will be disclosed to everyone (or at least to the tax authorities of everywhere). Especially banks will disclose every thing to the countries - so your money will be public.
So where do you think that wealth that is now stored currently in tax heavens goes?

So there you go, think people. If I were you I would stock Monero (and possibly other anonymous cryptos) and HODL till 2019 at least.
That is what I do at least.
Happy trading to everyone.

Can anyone explain how to do mining for XMR?

I am not new to the industry just to mine coins...people always told me it wasn't worth it unless you can get free or cheap electricity.

My friend is going to China and it may be worth investing a bit especially since the coin seems going up

also what is the easiest way to cash out funds?

I heard of cards cryptopay but none offer anything to the US.

Check out the mining subreddit:

The Monero price has initiated an impressive rally during the latter half of August, culminating in a 7-day rise of 100% between August 21 and August 28. Although there are other factors at play, including a general upswing in anonymity-centric altcoin prices, most of this movement should be attributed to the introduction of XMR/KRW trading on Bithumb

Haha, however after listed on Bithumb exchange in yesterday, the price of Monero still cannot breakout resistance price at $200.
I think Monero will falldown to range price @0.02xx BTC soon, the momentum buy in today not enough for helps Monero keep high price.

The momentum will come, Ya know what kind of shit is coming, dont ya? All that is needed is shuffle fake walls, direct more bought shills toward tradingview chat room and make "the sky is falling" type panic knock all those noobs out of their positions. Monero is going the same style parabola as it did last fall. Wait is the key. I dont think it will be a long wait.

i think you should sell 50% profits of XMR  and enter www.Viberate.io ICO on 5.sep

why?

Becouse of legendary masterplan, they have already running&successful platform and worldwide adoption in music sector

Read this article: Charlie Shrem and Stanford professor Jure Leskovec, both Viberate.io advisors, featured on the latest CoinDesk feature: https://www.coindesk.com/high-profile-advisers-blockchain-startup-viberate-disrupt-music/

and watch those two videos about Viberate:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mNAdHL2R84

Also ask anything on bitcointalk thread:

I would not sell any Monero.  The cryptospace is seeing huge gains for all privacy focused coins.  Just look at DASH, XMR, PIVX and Deeponion's rises in the past month.  I am holding all of these in my portfolio.  I would suggest that PIVX and ONION have room for huge gains over the next few months.  PIVX is an upgraded version of DASH and ONION is the only truly end to end encrypted coin out there using the TOR network meaning that no part of the transaction can be traced including the IP address of the machine used to send the transaction or the node used to facilitate said transaction.

Let's see if the price level will hold. I don't see why XMR can't be valued so high. In the end it's a good coin with lots of pros IMHO.
Way better the DASH in terms of privacy

With all due respect Dash is not a one trick pony, the privacy is only part of DASH, while Monero is primarily focused on privacy, and XMR those so at the cost of transparancy of the blockchain, a non-transparant blockchain, destroys the trust-less nature of a blockchain, in case of monero it means that it possible that coins can be printed out of thin air and this is not some FUD, it proven that such a bug in fact has been found, and there is no knowing there are more.

proof here:
https://getmonero.org/2017/05/17/disclosure-of-a-major-bug-in-cryptonote-based-currencies.html

I only wanted to say that, considering also how Darkcoin (DRK) then changed in DASH was born, I prefer Monero for many different things. The first and foremost is the privacy that XMR seems to guarantee.
The only pain paint is maybe the lack of good mobile wallets.
