Buckle up people, XMR is leaving the launchpad, breaking resistance against FIAT and BTC.

The more I've seen this in the recent days and weeks, the more I think this price move is related to:
https://www.cnet.com/news/us-largest-dark-web-market-bust-seizes-6-5-million-from-179-drug-dealers/

The general "theory" is that Tor was exploited, but instead they talk about tracing Bitcoin transactions. I'd put money on the fact they successfully analysed BTC transaction, whether through mixers (that have proven to be flawed), then easily associated these transactions to exchange withdrawals, debit card uses etc.
Seems like drug lords are learning to launder their money properly again, in a secure manner.

Thank goodness drug dealers have never used cash to trade and they dont have bank accounts.....

Could be indeed.

I prefer to think common people are starting to protect their privacy. May be it's just wishfull thinking. Grin

If you don’t do PGP, you don’t do crypto!
Seems like drug lords are learning to launder their money properly again, in a secure manner.

Enough brainlaundering about so-called “money laundering”.  Anyway, using anonymous digital currency is not “money laundering” at all!

For a drug dealer, the whole point of “money laundering” is not merely to conceal the source of funds, but rather, to fake the source of funds so that he can file his taxes (unlike Al Capone), have money in the bank, and buy a Lambo without getting in trouble.

Bitcoin mixers, CoinJoin, onion-routed Lightning, and of course, XMR are all almost approximately useless for that!

If you have truly anonymous digital currency, and you cannot document the source of funds, that is pretty much equivalent to having a big ol’ duffel bag full of cash that you just “found”, um, somewhere.

That may or may not be acceptable to you, if you don’t actually do anything illegal.  I myself love cash (or I did, before I spent it all on anonymously purchased Bitcoin...).  To sane people, there is nothing wrong with having a bag of cash; indeed, perfectly law-abiding old folks who wisely distrusted banks used to keep their life savings “under the mattress” (figuratively—I hope not literally).

I don’t do drugs; I have never bought anything off the “darkweb”; I just want privacy, because it is my right to keep my money stuffed under my virtual mattress!

But this world is not sane.  To the “AML” tyrants, untraceable funds are ipso facto “guilty till proven innocent”.  And for a drug dealer, using anonymous money without a means to fake a “clean” source of funds is suicidal—because a drug dealer really does have “something to hide”.

Add in ever increasing scarcity for an explosive mix...  Reminds me of the $1.xx range, where it was just becoming impossible to short it into the ground anymore.

I use the cli wallet on Linux in a shellscript to directly make a transfer.

For example this script can invoke "./monero-wallet-cli --wallet-file=AFILENAME transfer SOMEADRESS SOME AMOUNT"

Sometimes the cli wallet isn't able to make the requested transfer. The error message is then "Transaction spends more than one very old output. Privacy would be better if they were sent separately.
Spend them now anyway?  (Y/Yes/N/No):"
Spending old output isn't a problem for me, and I don't want to sweep.  How can I disable this warning, in order for a transaction involving old output to always directly be created?

Thank you.

Add ZMQ/Pub support for txpool_add and chain_main events
Various bug fixes and performance improvements

Can someone explain "Enforce claiming maximum coinbase amount monero" please.

Is it both CLI and GUI ?

It is a protocol rule. Thus, it will affect all wallets.

I just cut the message to make it shorter, my question is not related to the network changes but to the wallet itself.

Is it CLI or both CLI and GUI ?

Can you elaborate? 'Enforce claiming maximum coinbase amount monero' is a protocol rule and therefore applies to all participants (and by extension, wallets). Note that it only affects miners, not 'standard' users.

I think the question was likely about the upgrade itself.

Both will have to upgrade but the GUI upgrade isn't available yet.

Dear Monero community!

Trustee Wallet has added support of the Monero coin.
At the moment, it is possible to hold and exchange Monero for other cryptocurrencies in the wallet.

Remove most usage of Boost library

Why is Monero moving away from Boost? If I remember correctly it's been heavily used ever since the code was rewritten in C++.

It's possible that they are attempting to lower the window for that attack vector, for years I warned of JSON attack vector and some devs laughed at me and we saw how that turned out.
