Still wild and free
Fungibility provides privacy as a side effect.  Adam Back 2014

It's nice to quote Adam Back but I think his formulation is weak.
It's better expressed as "Fungibility requires privacy". The later relationship makes it clear there is no other way to obtain fungibility at the macro scale than to offer privacy at the user scale.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
It is only exploratory so far, but a major East Coast U.S. V.C. has asked me to brief them on XMR. (Please do not speculate on this basis.).  What are the best collateral materials for this purpose?  Software engineers with some bitcoin exposure will be there, and I should like to satisfy their questions from script, where possible.

I have been reading a little about freemit:
https://www.freemit.com/blog/the-future-of-money-transfer-how-bitcoin-and-blockchain-technology-will-change-everything/

For someone with the time/inclination/skills to put it together, it seems to me a similar project with private transactions might be a winner.
Any thoughts?

The new ShapeShift includes Payment ID for Monero:

https://beta.shapeshift.io/beta

Yeah, it only offers a payment ID but no Monero base address  Huh Shocked
Can i make a transaction only with a payment ID without providing a base address  Undecided Huh

Certainly not. I have no idea what would be going on there.

Found it, my fault  Grin

On the screen they first provide the ID and then way down the base address. Maybe someone of the devs could remind them to put both in one row and not separate them  Cool

XMR needs to be ready to step in as soon as that Gui is ready. And definitely before that Zcash bullshit is released. Because it is guaranteed they will be stealing the privacy spotlight from all other coins even though they have so many gaping flaws they are not to be trusted on release. I just can't imagine having to trust 3 people with an entire economies worth of wealth!! MY god That is worse than the current Banking system!

Let me tell you what's gonna happen, because of course it's gonna happen.

Fifty Cent accepts bitcoin.
Let's tell him about Monero.

At least he won't be ordered to bankruptcy court to explain all the Monero he is holding.  In fact, someone needs to photoshop those pics of him with all that money saying "Shoulda held Monero..."

The following is an idea requesting very modest funding. The way it is presented is good but being my usual clueless self I have no way of evaluating it. Please help in doing so.

I support it, and the rate seems pretty reasonable. Of course, in my head, Monero is still worth 50 cents. Grin

So you're saying that Fiddy Cent loves Monero?

Yeah he's gonna take Monero to the Candy Shop  LOL

I've got a new article up on the news site that may interest some of you.

A Redditor created a fantastic spreadsheet that covers 115 VPN providers with regards to how they handle various privacy focused criteria.  Bitcoin support is there, and Monero isn't mentioned, but perhaps one day that might change.

My little blurb about it is here: https://hellomonero.com/article/spreadsheet-over-100-vpn-providers-detailing-how-they-handle-privacy

The original article is at: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/49gywi/a_little_bird_told_me_that_you_guys_might_like/

Thanks for making that article. Furthermore, bear in mind that you can basically pay any Bitcoin address privately with Monero using xmr.to.

I know we have discussed Bittrex and AML requirments before in this thread.
So I just thought I should mention that I recently noticed that the Bittrex server is hosted in Hong Kong.

I don't recall seeing that before. Maybe it's just cloudfare that is fucking up my flagfox plugin though.
