EDIT: I also forgot to include in my previous post that AEON is mainly used as a testbed for experimental features that could benefit Monero in the future too. An example would be pruning, which AEON is currently experimenting with.

usually ppl use testnet to do test, not another coin which investor will think as mooney.  if you market them as testnet coin then no one will buy.

No one listens to me  even though I am nearly always correct on the markets. How many examples would you need.
Would you mind making each future market prediction in a binary form (which can be objectively judged as true or false by a specified date) along with a specific numeric probability estimate (which you can subsequently update any time)?

Probabilistic predictions are okay as long as you keep a comprehensive list of all of them. You can then test how many of the "80%" predictions are satisfied relative to the ideal 80%.

When xmr hit dollar parity, it stuck there and has moved only pennies up and down.
Vat iss the meanink of diss!?

Same happened for a long time around 50 cents. I would guess this doesn't mean anything other than that many alts tend to trade relative to fiat now (especially since roughly October of 2015, but somewhat before too), not BTC. When BTC moves, the alts move opposite.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.

Any opinions on if there is a bitcoin pump around the halving if Monero will be pegged to bitcoin or fiat?

I think we'll we'll stay pegged to fiat.

XMR under a dollar?  Too good to be true.

If BTC rally all alts will lose value compared to BTC. After few weeks when new people come in crypto most alts will start getting value back or even improve it.

Pretty much agree. Also I really find almost impossible the halving pump to happen. When everyone expects something it doesn´t happen.

Edit: It seems we all agree on that topic... maybe we are groupthinking too much??

2. i bet alot of ppl dont even realize that Monero has infinite max coin. nevertheless im sure the whale who shorting your coin know.

The tail emission rate of monero is lower than inflation.  Its under 1% a year.  Just 432 monero per day.
Its actually a superior feature to bitcoin's continued halvings and eventual reliance on fees alone.

Its also critical to the protocol, so that there are always new inputs to use in ring signatures.

This is very confusing to simple minds.

Any opinions on if there is a bitcoin pump around the halving if Monero will be pegged to bitcoin or fiat?

The more people that learn about BTC the more that find XMR. Smiley

Take the Long View.

Time to start a veto petition.

Also if this passes then USA will no longer host companies that protect privacy and will therefore lose another industry.

Generally during any sharp bitocin rally, alts are begged to fiat not btc.

However, after a bitcoin rally settles down, alts tend to rise.

Depends on how "fast" this rally is. I've noticed that when BTC goes up slowly it doesn't really influence alts. However, if it really breaks out and surges fast, alts will likely lose some BTC value.

EDIT: It will most likely also depend a bit on how ETH reacts.

@noobtrader & @spatula: I genuinely somehow missed iCEBREAKER's post, so my apologies for that. Edited my earlier comment.

@noobtrader: Any rational "investor" would at least read the OP/ANN of the coin he is investing in. Thus, taking that into account, almost everyone knows about it. It's also included in the description of Monero on wikipedia.

EDIT: I also forgot to include in my previous post that AEON is mainly used as a testbed for experimental features that could benefit Monero in the future too. An example would be pruning, which AEON is currently experimenting with.

Another 20k taken out to short and subsequently dumped on the market:

http://monerodice.pd.to/polo.php

I wouldn't be suprised if the number of open shorts totals a 6 figure amount in XMR terms.

Doesn't seem rational to short a coin that's already down ~30% for the week.  Why not wait until it's up?

Perhaps this is irrational rage-shorting by some angry Dash FailWhales.

They've been in a giant anti-Monero tizzy since Tone Vays pronounced Dash's instamine to be fraudulent, not "accidental."

Please keep dumping guys.  I need XMR under 0.001 to buy MOAR without raising my avg cost.   Grin

guys guys... you were venting anger on Dash as your coin is losing value... hummm how come it losing value anyway..

1. no GUI.... means less ppl willing to try it because its too difficult to them

2. infinite max coin with perpetual emission forever

3. moar and moar clone coin with with same dev, further diluting your coin value... i mean, if i can buy aeon for cheaper why i buy monero Huh

tell me why Huh  same dev, same feature ?

does any of those 3 should be blamed on Dash ?

How is this in any way related to DASH? As in venting anger on DASH?

Huh? They were obviously replying to Mr. Hashfast blaming the downward trend of XMR on DASH users.

1. so we all agree on this one

2. i bet alot of ppl dont even realize that Monero has infinite max coin. nevertheless im sure the whale who shorting your coin know.

3. Btc, Ltc and Dash has different feature AND Dev... im sure you realize that.

EDIT :: i forgot to answer How is this in any way related to DASH? As in venting anger on DASH?

[1] I agree on that point. A GUI is somewhat necessary to increase adoption, at least within the online cryptocurrency atmosphere.

[2] Keep on FUDding, that has been known since the start:

yet they didnt announce in their monero ann about the eternal infinite coin supply

Incorrect.

A minimum subsidy may be implemented in the future with <1% inflation to preserve mining incentives.

Quaint to see the [MRO] symbol from back then.

It was there from the original post before any edits (perhaps forum admin could verify) but that is the first capture in archive.org, May 20, 2014.

Whatever your criticisms of Monero, please do not make things up.

Furthermore, a tail emission is necessary to keep incentives for miners. Fees alone won't bring sufficient incentives and rewards for miners. Readers might find this excellent post from ArticMine regarding this subject interesting:

[3] Why should I buy Bitcoin if I can buy Litecoin cheaper? Or Dogecoin? Or DASH?
