And sorry haters. I speculate that monero is gonna run into a wired situation that no one wants to sell monero for these cheap prices. What happens then?

Price will have to rise until there are sellers willing to sell. My take is that what is holding Monero at these prices is a host of "unfinished business" starting of course with the 0.9 release. What is potentially very dangerous for the shorts at these prices is that this "unfinished business" is slowly being addressed.

Then there is of course the whole blocksize debate in Bitcoin. The degree of denial in the Bitcoin community about this is just mind boggling.

I imagine that Shapeshift doesn't allow certain altcoins because of low liquidity.

Edit: But upon second look, they have some coins available that are even less liquid than XMR.

I don't think it's a liquidity issue.  They just buy and sell through Poloniex as far as I can tell...at least every time I've bought XMR through Shapeshift, I can see my purchase amount in the Poloniex log.

I think they ran into some sort or technical issue last week.  A few of us had transactions that said they went through, but never appeared on the blockchain.  A day or so later we got a refund and a "Sorry about that - we're having some Monero issues." email.

Prolly a kyc thing if I were to guess. If shapeshifter really does do that with polo, then that's a sure fire loophole for their new requirements.

Btw I still owe u that Iso. Been busy. Will try to get it up soon.

Oh look, a celebrity endorsement of an excellent, bootstrappy XMR use case!

For me personally shapeshift adds a lot of value to Bitcoin, as it gives me much stronger privacy by using Monero as an anonymous intermediary point. Specifically, I buy Monero on shapeshift, then sell it to xmr.to, which in turn sends bitcoins to the Bitcoin address of my choice.

...except Shapeshift doesn't allow you to get XMR at the moment (along with a bunch of other coins). No one seems to have a clue why.

You would think Erik would have made a tweet or post about why this is the case by now...hmm

yep. while bitcoin goes sideways little xmr party Smiley

I am much more excited about Monero development than price swings. My goal is to see widespread adoption of Monero as a currency. This made me more happy to see than the price increase today:

I have a BTC -> XMR service ready to go. Soon you will not need to use Shapeshift.io. I anticipate the launch to be within the next 2 weeks.

Prepare for Monerizer.

I am not a trader so my interest in development and adoption will always be greater than my concern for price.

This is cross posting this from reddit from AP:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/imf-director-tells-banks-do-not-worry-about-bitcoin-blockchain/

IMF Director says:

Quote
If those new technologies and as long as those new technologies are going to abuse, take advantage of, the yield for anonymity, I think the banking industry has quite a few good days ahead of it as long as it takes ownership of those issues of capital and culture in order to actually restore the trust without which you see no trade no transaction no business can take place.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what she is saying.

Is she saying "Because bitcoin is transparent, not to worry about it"?

Are the stars aligning for Monero?

Dont understand what she saying. Her other quote is also good:-)

Quote
Many of you have heard about not only bitcoins but blockchains and that unbelievable technology that underlies the Bitcoins of this world at the moment, and how incredibly convenient it will be to actually generate trust and identify players and whatever pseudo they decide to use.

Identify who? bitcoin users, or bitcoin creator(s)?

I believe she means blockchain users in general (which of course includes bitcoin users). If more policy decisions are made in reliance on statements like this, interest in Monero should increase. Blockchain technology does not need to mean that transactions of all users are transparent! Monero gives users the choice on what transaction data they reveal, with privacy as a default.

nice spike, hardcore  Shocked

someone needed lots of xmr, it seems :-)

Instead of worrying about who placed that buy order you should be focusing on making it easier for more people to aquire and spend Monero. Contact Chinese exchanges and encourage businesses to accept Monero payments. With the new release usability will increase while CPU resource requirements will decrease.

The elite like a stable system, but not so much transparency, only if they can use it.

I`m not sure where Monero fits in in their ideology, they seem pretty welcoming to bitcoin, but monero is really anonymous from what I heard, so i`m not sure if they like it or not.
