its annoying to see something like ZCL rocket up so that they can be airdropped BTCP. Anyone have thoughts on how this might affect Monero?

What is a ZCL, and how could it possibly affect Monero?

I think Xmr is an old and solid project. I think you will see very good price levels with Zec and Dash. Well worth $ 1,500 or more. It is not surprising anyway. Bitcoin is not going to stop while it is moving uphill.
Yes, it the easiest coin to mine out there.

To use remote nodes with the Monero GUI, include the node address under the Settings tab and be sure to use the proper port:

node.moneroworld.com at port 18089 -  Remote nodes volunteered by community members.
node.xmrbackb.one at port 18081 - Remote nodes maintained by Snipa
node.xmr.be  at port 18081 -  Network nodes with 18081, possibly by accident.
node.viaxmr.com  at port 18081 - Same as above, but different DNS server.
I tried that but it still seems to be trying to download the blockchain. Am I doing something wrong?

That is your wallet "refreshing" or scanning the blocks looking for transactions that belong to your wallet. Connecting to a remote node bypasses the need to download the blockchain but you still need to sync with it. The next version of the GUI should have 2 separate status bars to indicate each sync, instead of using the same status bar.

This seems pretty big, since OKEx shows are 5th biggest exchange in last 24h. Is HongKong based, so seems just perfect fro Monero.

Funny how a few months ago when Monero got added to Bithumb the price nearly tripled whereas getting added to OKEx has done little for the price. How quickly things change in the crypto world.

Well, nearly everywhere lists Monero now...  They have to  Wink

P.S. Any Monero meetups in my area? Currently in Singapore or Thailand. I know there must be some people who value anonymity and privacy.
Are Monero meetups actually a thing? I can imagine that it would be hard to get a decent sized group of XMR users from any local place that isn't a major city.

There is lots of metups.  It is hard to make them in every village so I guess many need to travel a bit to addend them. On reddit is at least one a week posted, but maybe was such time of a year. Just google a bit and you will find some close to you.

Hey, just downloaded the GUI wallet and am trying to figure it out. How exactly do I connect to a public node (that way I don't have to sync the blockchain)?

Bithumb made a huge show when adding Monero. And that is exactly what matters most right now about price in crypto.  You see that there is something strange in Korea happening right now when all crypto is +20%  Most likely some serious group of people is taking care of getting more people in crypto.

Monero dropping along with Bitcoin. We could possibly retest the old lows (btc), then back in the fast lane.

Yeah, if anyone was able to buy when Bitcoin touched below 12k, congratulations. I really need another dip, a big one if possible, and if January serves us up the usual correction/dip/whatever you want to call it, I can really feel Monero also following that pattern, before renewing its bullish year in 2018. So come on, all you Bitcoin haters, sell it as hard as you can so I can get my own entire Monero stash.

P.S. Any Monero meetups in my area? Currently in Singapore or Thailand. I know there must be some people who value anonymity and privacy.
I think that every user of the crypto currency appreciates the anonymity and confidentiality of the comma, but the most important thing is that the price of their choice of investments but not the one that expects. If today to look At the situation through the prism of the growth in the price of Bitcoin, then practically nothing compares to such activity.

I didn't even know that was a thing. I probably won't attend one, but it's neat nevertheless. I guess I just figured that there wouldn't be all that many.

Searching is fun sometimes. Today was searching for Monero on Youtube and found this video Smiley
