Monero dropping along with Bitcoin. We could possibly retest the old lows (btc), then back in the fast lane.

Yeah, if anyone was able to buy when Bitcoin touched below 12k, congratulations. I really need another dip, a big one if possible, and if January serves us up the usual correction/dip/whatever you want to call it, I can really feel Monero also following that pattern, before renewing its bullish year in 2018. So come on, all you Bitcoin haters, sell it as hard as you can so I can get my own entire Monero stash.

P.S. Any Monero meetups in my area? Currently in Singapore or Thailand. I know there must be some people who value anonymity and privacy.

This seems pretty big, since OKEx shows are 5th biggest exchange in last 24h. Is HongKong based, so seems just perfect fro Monero.

After Bitcoin has gone to zero....the ashes of Bitcoin....

Radically transparent Bitcoin's ultimate destiny is disruption in the realm of macroeconomic concerns like central banking, while radically opaque Monero's purposes are microeconomic (relating to individuals and firms) in nature.

Bitcoin and Monero are perfect complements, perhaps the greatest pairing since salt and pepper.

This is exactly my thesis. I'm a monero-bitcoin bicryptomaximalist.

I would expect XMR to go up. It's done pretty well this year, and there's still room for it to grow. I know BTC has it's growing pains so I wonder if this is an opportunity for XMR to continue that growth.

BTC is actually $5000 over and still the Koreans are buying. Reason for this is that in Korea it's harder to get money around, and therefor they're willing to pay a premium for it.

I do not believe this.  Retail just has a hard time getting in.  Supply is constrained and demand is high, because this channel allows easy purchase, but accesses limited liquidity.  It is a picture of what will happen when a proper BTC ETF is listed in the U.S. - not some pink sheet closed-end fund which no one wants to touch except for arbitrage.

Yeah, that was pretty interesting.
I've been worried about the high fees putting a damper on btc.  But this guy talking about options, family offices, pensions and the like puts a different perspective on things.  The big boys might not be deterred by a twenty dollar fee or a hundred dollar fee.  Also, it's going to take time for these big investors to get in.  They're waiting for a viable custodial arrangement, which might take a year or two.
So in the short term, btc might take a hit because of the network congestion or simply because it's time for a pullback after extravagant gains.  But long term looks bullish.

BTC loans on Poloniex tightening up.  0.136% - or up about 100x over a few days ago.   BTC being pulled for the next clone coin?

Very good looking now. In uptrend I would say. However it is not definitely x100 coin

Ya, dismal 40x this year, and  only 30ish last year. (if you are bad at math, that's about 1200x in 2 years) So it is obviously all over now, despite 'looking good'.

Add:
Now that I consider it, XMR is the only coin that I feel quite certain has a sustainable 100x in it.

That's crazy talk--do you really think the technically proficient and the uber rich will demand bast-in-class privacy and an auditable supply? Pfft, please! And don't you know that small caps have more room to grow and promise (insert vaporware here) and Bitcoin is censorship resistant (except when exchanges decide to censor you)? Monero can't compete with microcaps and one-coin-to-rulz-dem-all Roll Eyes

You're right.  I thought better of it, and deleted my mad ramblings  Tongue

The price of Monero is now a little bit corrected. It seems to me that this is a great time to buy coins. Monero has a huge potential, so I keep it for a long term.

Why is price still holding so well? Usually when BTC declines, Monero goes in the dumps.

I think that more people are realizing that this is a fundamentally solid coin that hasn't come close to reaching its potential. This is still the early days.

This video might have helped. He mentions Monero very positively near the end: https://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/12/26/man-behind-massive-bet-that-bitcoin-could-hit-50000.html?play=1

Cool I like his answer to isn't that used by criminals, they use everything, including dollars and euros  Tongue

Nice and sharp because they then had to go, well yes that's true.

Is this 777 game still on? its a mess with half the posts getting deleted and so on.

I know it's a long shot, but we could see a re-test of high .015s before we really take off. If only  Undecided
As for the beoing 777, I'll throw a stone on january 23rd. No sooner, no later.

Its still on.  /r/monero subscribers increasing about 1 per minute.  That's a lot of competition for a drying supply of coins, even on minnow scale.

Some of what we look forward to in the short term:

  • Ledger hardware wallet -Really huge.
  • BulletProofs - Huger.  What reason to use any other coin with fees less than a quarter, 2 min blocks, and fungible to boot?  Not to mention what happens to the fees as tx count increases.  This alone could be a snowballing of use for XMR
  • monerujo+XMR.to - too cool.
  • Multisig - fabled.  Recently spotted.

Long term: its just too much to list.

After Bitcoin has gone to zero....the ashes of Bitcoin....

That's enough BitcoinObituary.com FUD for today.  Please remember you also believe "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer - it is a fundamental law of network economies." Wink

Good to know Core possesses the godlike powers required to break fundamental laws of network economies.  Perhaps Satoshi lent his Infinity Gauntlet to gmax? Grin

Didn't you predict that by now most transactions would be taking place on the 2X chain? Roll Eyes
