Hi guys,
I am running the GUI on a mac. Is there an upgrade? If so how do you do it?

So far the latest upgrade ("Helium Hydra" 0.11.0.0) is just the command line interface (CLI). The GUI should be out in the next few days.

There are better sources of info for these kinds of questions. I recommend starting here:

Anyone gonna sue Equifax? I think it might be fun. Smiley

Oh man I cannot stand how evil these fuckers are... so apparently now after this *hack* was revealed, IF you sign up for Equifax's "free" credit monitoring in the wake of the attack, after checking that your name/SSN is affected on their site, THE SMALL PRINT OF THEIR SIGNUP MAKES YOU WAIVE PARTICIPATION IN ANY CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM ? ? ?  Shocked  Angry   Roll Eyes

Jesus-H, there should be a separate class-action for JUST THAT against them now too, damages on top of damages... FFS how low can these fuckers really SINK?

There are no depths these fuckers will not sink to in order to screw their sheeple.

HAha I especially like this one:

LOL "whistling past the graveyard" much?  The English may have been fractured but the basic technical info they spoke of was still quite true.

Anyone happen to save a copy of the essay and/or a screenshot (for, you know... "posterity" at least Cheesy )

So speaking of other coins, I'm interested to hear what some of you think about the Agoras project. It seems to be very ambitious project which is in pre alpha since 2015 and based on a new programming language called Tau Chain (which is actually what is being developed for such a long time).

This is the announcement: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/tau-chain-and-agoras-official-thread-generalized-p2p-network-950309

And an interview with the dev: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFmaX-oumNw

"Ontologies are expressed in RDF language family (Resource Description Framework), or simply JSON-LD.
We propose a software client that stores an ontology of local rules, and determines its actions using a Reasoner. Reasoners are tools that infer new rules or conclusions given old ones. They do it intelligently - using pure logical reasoning, and they also supply proofs for their results. Tauchain node is therefore an intelligent agent able to communicate with other agents, at the very same language they're written with, which is quite human-readable."

So this project goes in the direction of AI and perhaps comparable to the Wolfram Alpha project.

Also notable is that the dev, a guy called Ohad, and the originator of the idea, HunterMinerCrafter, have split up and are working on their own versions of Tauchain.

Edit: Sorry if this too much OT. Was just curious to know what some of the brightest minds on this forum think about this project. OP can go ahead and delete this post if too much OT.

I checked this out when it was first announced and followed the conversation between Ohad and HunterMinerCrafter and found Ohad to be competant but overreaching in his goals. HunterMinerCrafter is just brilliant IMO. Do you have a link to his project? Ohad is more of a programmer while HunterMinerCrafter is a cutting edge mathematician I believe. I do not see that project ever coming to fruition but wish Ohad the best as he's put a massive amount of time in effort into a lofty goal. I forgot the original name of the project but it changed direction after HunterMinerCrafter became involved and brought OHAD up to speed on some very deep subjects. You should go and read the original thread.

Do you have the link to the original thread that you mention?

I don't think there is a link to HunterMinerCrafters project but you can find out more through their IRC:

what's Autonomic project project?

The Autonomous Nomic Overlay Network
aka Autonomic
aka A.N.O.N.
aka oldtau

We are all of the tau developers, less Ohad, continuing with the original project plan.

You can find us in #autonomic on freenode IRC.

Monero is still among very few who survived chinese news. Volume is also not so bad - only very few can still beat it. I can not predict the future. But at this moment Monero looks like the most safe heaven. But we never know the plans of the people who make the "chinese news".

Yes, it's fine! Smiley

The ability to withdraw coins from exchanges is subject to regulatory and other 3rd party risk, however trustworthy the exchange is.

Can I leave my xmr coins at bittrex? Or do I need to send'em to a wallet?

I guess that's your call.  Do you trust them?  If you're not trading with them, I would personally suggest taking them into your own hands (If you don't hold it, you don't own it).

Would you recommend any tutorials on how to take out the coins from bittrex? I've never done it before!!!

I don't use bittrex, so I won't comment on that side of it, but I infer from your post that you would be happier waiting for the GUI to create your own wallet.  It's not that hard to use the CLI though (hell, I did it!) and plenty of tutorials available if you choose to act immediately.

ADD

this is probably the simplest to just create a storage wallet:

I find it a bit "weird", a big Korean pump on Monero exactly a few hours before a Chinese rumor about Bitcoin.

Also, don't you think it might be interesting for Monero if China were to "ban" Bitcoin? The Chinese would need an anonymous currency to keep their assets out of governments sight.

Could Mr. Market really have figured out so fast that this latest yet-again China Ban news is really ONLY good for XMR?
P.S. {Edit} LOL RangeDriver your exact same screenshot post beat me by 46 seconds Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
From what I’ve heard whenever the Chinese government bans a book about 10% of the population reads it. I can imagine the same would apply to crypto currencies.

Also, it appears that 120$ is our new glass floor.
