As to Criminals & Botnets: unfortunately freedom brings out the best and the worst in people. Often innovation is first adopted at the fringes as these areas have typically more to lose or gain. A natural process.
Desiring, no, demanding, privacy and financial sovereignty whenever I choose does not make me or any of us condone or commit criminal acts. If all you needed was a low risk opportunity to become a criminal, you have always been one. People make choices. People take responsibility, knowing or not. The ones that blame tools and infrastructure as enablers are the same that blame the gun. Laughable small little fearful things that think they can calm their frightened little selves by controlling all and everything. Pity them. Or the worst kind: those using those pitiful souls to further their agenda. They shall both fail in our laughter.
