Jaxx wallet will add Monero soon. This news might seem small to everyone but this could propel the price further. Ordinary people who want only to buy and hold  for a while can now store their coins out of the exchanges. It also marks Monero for success because third party developers are starting to building tools for it.

Exactly how many months it will be integrated with wallet monero Jaxx?

No it won't be small at all, everyone has been waiting at least 1 year for mobile xmr wallet that can be (somewhat?) trustable.

Thanks, let's hope you are right! Cheesy

I'll check again about accessing original wallet because when I restart it doesnt pop up. It tells me to type in password for the new wallet. Is there a way to choose which wallet I want to access?

Enter your password for the new wallet. Subsequently, go to the "Settings" page and choose "Close wallet". This will bring you back to the wizard, where you can select your original wallet.

I cant access my original wallet that I deposited my 1 monero. How am I able to pick the original wallet?

Go to settings -> close wallet. It will bring you back to the wizard, where you can open your original wallet.

And when I did enter the seed, I had to sync the GUI from the beginning.

That's normal. It scans the blockchain looking for transactions that belong to your wallet.

Edit: Brain wasn't working, now is.

Edit 2: GUI question: Can I log in with my mnemonic key for the purpose of verifying that it was written correctly?

You can use the "Restore from 25 word mnemonic seed" option in the Wizard to verify you wrote down your seed correctly.

When I go to restore wallet from 25 word mnemonic seed, I enter it correctly and wants to name a new wallet. Basically its a new wallet with no moneros. I sent a test of 1 monero yesterday and it is my original wallet, which I can access with just my password.

So I couldnt test to see if my mnemonic seed is correct.

If you restore from the 25 word mnemonic seed a new wallet always has to be created. Thus, you could just create a new wallet (by restoring from the 25 word mnemonic seed) and check if the address (and seed) matches that of your already existing wallet.

It would be interesting to read the thoughts China has on Monero. Does Chinese people embrace Monero with open arms or despise it like a sack of potatoes (yes it is a binary decision like it seems to be in anything related to crypto)?

I think poloniex.com - one of the main investors Monero.

Yes confirmed!

No an exchange is never a good option to "secure" your coins.... as long as you dont own the keys to your wallet it is basically not yours and could go down if poloniex ever pulled a exit

Im new to Monero and wanted to investment into it for long term. What is the best wallet to store my future XMR??

This is safest if you want to store larger sums: http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3060/how-to-create-a-cold-storage-watch-only-wallet

Mainly safe should be if you use https://getmonero.org/2016/12/22/monero-core-gui-beta-released.html  Monero Core GUI on a computer with which you dont download to much and strangers dont have access to it.

...So, can these be 'directly RUN' from there in order to use the wallet the old-fashion way too, i.e. more control over typing commands (for "save" etc) in addition to using the GUI in a newbie-friendly way i.e. just double-click the icon?

Are there any warnings or danger to be aware of in this case, if so?  Or would it still be better to pre-load the daemon etc from another normal copy of the downloaded command line set of Monero files?

(P.S. Sorry if it's a dumb question BUT this is the kind of thing that needs to be made simple, clear, and easy for NOOBS if HoneyPony is really ever going to gain mainstream use and acceptance!)

As I understand it, the GUI is a wrapper that passes calls to the daemon ergo if you use the cli to make those calls then you should not hurt anything. I am guessing as I did none of the programming. The only pitfall I can forsee is that the gui would not refresh from those cli calls and display previous data but that is a rookie move and I can't imagine this team putting out something that lame.

As usual feel free to correct me guys, I'm just making educated guesses from experience on other projects.

I have had the GUI crash a few times. I have found the best way to use it on my system is to start monerod from within the GUI folder and monitor progress in cmd window. Once synced start the GUI. When finished exit monerod in cmd then close GUI. YMMV.

Doesn't the GUI display synched when caught up? sorry when I compiled and tested I didn't wait for the entire blockchain. I remember a display of the progress.

Yup, and one Big one! Wish it had made me one before the last blastoff but I was on a cooler At the time. Smiley

BTW, that is the best head and shoulders I've ever seen! Who's the artist? Can you do a few boobies for me on the next one?

BTW my download of the XMR blockchain via GUI is *still* not done, but sooooo close LOL hopefully will finally finish today?  Happy New Year Cheesy

Related question, I see that the CLI tools are included (?) "inside" the Mac *.app "container"... in the "Contents" and "MacOS" sub-folders, screenshot :

When will governments start to put pressure on monero? Is it just too small and not taken serious yet?

I've thought about this quite a bit in the past, but I can't really get my head around a solid answer for one primary reason.

Granted, it's a foregone conclusion that "governments" will WANT to "put pressure" on any competitive currency that they feel is excessively out of their control be it bitcoin or monero or zcash or whatever.

But in the case of XMR how exactly would this pressure work?  Precisely BECAUSE it's anonymous, untraceable, un-linkable etc there is more than enough plausible deniability that someone IS NOT EVEN USING IT at all, already, right from the start... isn't there?

So, basically, if the PTB tried to "ban Monero" and everyone just SAYS, "Oh, yeah, I hate that coin!  I never use it!  That's only for criminals!"

But all the while, just the same, IF everyone is simply going ahead and USING it anyway?  If nobody can *prove* that any transactions or coins or anything actually *belongs* to anyone in particular, what can be done about it anyway?

Isn't it really this simple or what am I missing about how "banning" something that's fundamentally "anonymous" really can never work?

A ban is not the concern. There are much smarter methods governments can use to attack the currency. One would be to place vocal "contributors" onto the scene who will build reputation over time but ultimately seek to undermine the project.

This can be as simple as pushing to implement new crypto features before they're fully vetted or reviewed, or even having "trusted" personalities FUD/exit the project en masse.

Yeah... hmm, sounds familiar: where have I heard of something like this happening recently? Cheesy  LOL

I am glad the coin gets wider distribution.
I have been a bagholder since June 2014 and my average buying price is under 0.003.
That being said, I am just a small fish and I do not own that many coins but I am still happy for each coin I am holding in my light bags.

Go XMR, you can do it.

if you just buy yesterday, congrats, that was possibly one of the worst buy point in the chart for XMR  Grin. Look above Wink

Or if it goes to the moon, it is still a decent buying point, given that he is a long term bagholder instead of a short term opportunistic speculator.
