Ask yourself one very important question:
When the GUI is out, which reason do all those DNM users have to use BTC over XMR?

It is my understanding that he went on a cruise around the world.

You'd think he'd have learned to stay away from the damn boats by now  Tongue

Not all cruises are on boats. I cruise in my jooogie car all the time.  Tongue

My car is a Boat. And just like a boat it's got the same definition, "A hole in the water you throw your money into". Tongue

What is happening here? XMR is only clearly in a correction yet the people are already overreacting. Those people who are very anxious and angry are probably the ones who were scared to be left behind so they panic bought at the top. Now they feel that the are trapped but that is far from the truth. We should all be patient and keep supporting Monero. The cryptosphere will be too big for bitcoin and other cryptocoins will naturally be needed to fill the niche that bitcoin cannot reach.

Sorry can't hear you from all the screaming going on, really there's no way to keep up with this thread and have a life!

Well I suck with graphs and graphic software but here's a possibility. DO NOT USE THIS TO GAMBLE WITH !!!!!!!!!!

Zeronet is also going to be huge in due time. Nice screenshot right there ..

A lot of the low hanging fruits have been gambling last 3-4 weeks as well as newbies learning lessons the hard way. But will they ever really learn  Roll Eyes

For the price to go lower, it requires that someone is willing to sell. Selling is not rational any more, buying is.

Seems to me that the only thing possibly upcoming which *might* trigger that happening, is if there's some kind of incredible hype marketing machine gearing up behind the ZCash launch, which -- despite all the technical superiority of Monero -- *might* be able to irrationally induce less-informed HODL'ers to jump ship for the "shiny new" or "latest and greatest" anon coin.

IF something like that happens, however, I believe it will be short-lived and the backlash will be severe... and ultimately probably of long-term benefit to XMR.

But still, point is that it may get UGLY for awhile... Monero-ites need to be prepared for that.  We'll just have to see how it goes, I guess.

Anyway, I know I'm gonna be tempted to try and play something off of ZCash when it launches, probably... short the shit outta it, if possible, and use the profits to acquire more XMR... LOL.  But honestly I know I should probably not even try that as I'll get my ass handed to me as usual, one way or the other LOL.

IAC my long-term, base stash of XMR is gonna remain locked up safe & sound in cold wallets as always.  Maybe I'll play it with a little expendable fiat only... heh.  We'll see.

I am calling a bottom at 8888.

- Just feels like that
- Dip below 0.01 was defended with reasonable volume and bounced back above
- Hammer in daily yesterday (albeit red)
- In accordance with everything I said since the pump started
- Lucky number.

Reasonable strategy is to not play FOMO. It aint goin higher. Buy methodically especially on dips. Stop-loss at 8888 if on margin.

For the price to go lower, it requires that someone is willing to sell. Selling is not rational any more, buying is.

To me these 2 quotes seem to contradict each other.  First quote says it's not going higher and the second one I read to be that the only way it is going is up.  rpietilla would you please clarify.  Thank you.

Several people that I respect have just said that the price will be basically horizontal for the next several months.  I'm more in line with rpietilla's second quote.  Ofc there is great uncertainty from uncontrollable events.  I did buy some yesterday at < 0.01 but mostly I will continue to hold and drink tea.

I interpreted it as it isn't going up in a FOMO fashion...it can go up though, just not as it has in the recent spike.

This may be an accurate call, especially if it attracts attention in China.

Quote
The word for "eight" (八 Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth" (發 – often paired with "發財" during Chinese New Years, but is used alone or paired with numerous other "compound words" that have a meaning of luck or success, Pinyin: fā). In regional dialects the words for "eight" and "fortune" are also similar, e.g., Cantonese "baat3" and "faat3". The word is also phonetically similar to the word for a hundred (百), alluding to greater wealth. Note as well, this particular symbol matches the mathematical symbol of infinity. While Chinese does have other words for luck, this full understanding of luck that includes the infinity concept marries into a Chinese understanding of this particular word.

There is also a visual resemblance between two digits, "88", and 囍, the "shuāng xĭ" ("double joy"), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters 喜 ("xĭ" meaning "joy" or "happiness").

I am not a day trader nor a whale, so to me Monero goes wherever it wants to go or is being steered. However I dare to challenge that we have already seen the bottom:

- In the past Monero has shown to be more firmly connected to the dollar price than the bitcoin price.
- Bitcoin is in a consistent uptrend.
- Price increase is usually quick and over reacting. A price decline usually hurts, badly, over a stretched period of time. That I feel we haven't experienced yet.
- Uncertainty in the market regarding potential privacy competitor Zcash.
- Monero has been around 0,50$ for a long time. A 10x price rise, that actually holds, would already be quite impressive.

So being bullish I speculate that Monero's current fair value is around 5$. That would mean between 0,007 and 0,008 BTC, if the price of Bitcoin remains stagnant. Which I think it will not. Let's see!

Well, as I expected people are calling the beta gui already like the final GUI. For the devs I would recommend to add a big and clear note "beta" on that GUI. Every bug will be used against that coin otherwise.
