People who are motivated by solving a problem or creating something new usually achieve wealth as a byproduct not as a intended goal. And people who pursue wealth without merit usually get neither.
Well-said and exactly what S. Sinek gets at in this TED Talk:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sioZd3AxmnE (Seek to 8:15 to hear the story I am mentioning)
He uses the example of the Wright Brothers versus Samuel Pierpont Langley in the race to achieve the first powered flight.
Langley was well-funded, sponsored, and was basically in it for the fame and money.
Orville and Wilbur, pn the other hand, were passionate about flying and their fame and wealth came as a result of their acheivements.

https://youtu.be/qp0HIF3SfI4?t=4m7sEverything we do we believe in challenging the status quo, we believe in thinking differently
The way we challenge the status quo is by making our product beautifully designed, simple to use and user-friendly
We just happen to make great computers - wanna buy one?
"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it"
I am doing Monero because I believe in
net neutrality, I believe in
fairness (of distribution but also of transaction - forcing people to be private or to be transparent means being unfair to some parties), I believe in decentralisation, I believe in
future-proof (scalable, well-written) code. And I believe that placing our why before our how is the right things to do.
fluffypony recently said on IRC:
9:03 AM fluffypony, Why are you doing monero?
9:05 AM <•fluffypony> Three reasons:
9:07 AM <•fluffypony> 1. Bitcoin has reached a point where they're stuck with inefficiencies and stumbling blocks (eg. block size) that they can't change without massively politicizing the decision. I wanted to contribute to something not so...precarious
9:08 AM <•fluffypony> 2. Monero is the first truly interesting and noteworthy altcoin I've found, and I believe that advancing it is akin to advancing science or art, without being overly self-important.
9:10 AM <•fluffypony> 3. I of course want to make money, but I believe the best way to do so is to build peripheral services that can profit as the economy builds out.
These are our whys. What are yours (whether you are a dev or a supporter)?
(I'm not implying no DASH developers have other goal; actually, I do not imply anything about DASH or any other crypto than Monero, so don't quote me out of context)
