Gandalf86 made a suggestion above, if you can wait just another few days v1.3 will be out that will have a linux version. Sorry, I'm just that strong on linux. Grin

Sounds good. No problem, i can wait a few days.
You also have the option to install version: 1.1.0, for linux.
In my opinion, it would be best to keep your XSPEC, in exchanges, for a few days.
Then install the wallet version: 1.3.0 because it will bring a great improvement in the code,
allowing the wallet to work well, in countries like China and others that block TOR.

Hello,

I have difficulties to install the wallet under linux. Im using Mint18 based on Ubuntu 16.04 and followed the instruction in the readme file. What I did was the following:

sudo apt-get install qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqt5webkit5-dev

(to install the required packages)

then I opened the terminal in the directory of "spectre-1.2.0.0" and typed in:

make

and get this error/result:

cd /home/mylinux/XSPEC/spectre-1.2.0.0/src/leveldb && CC=gcc CXX=g++ make OPT="-m64 -pipe -fstack-protector-all --param ssp-buffer-size=1 -O2" libleveldb.a libmemenv.a
/bin/sh: 1: cd: can't cd to /home/thomas/Wallets/_Problem
Makefile:950: recipe for target '/home/mylinux/XSPEC/spectre-1.2.0.0/src/leveldb/libleveldb.a' failed
make: *** [/home/mylinux/XSPEC/spectre-1.2.0.0/src/leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

Anyone knows how to fix it or can provide more installation instructions? Thank you.

SpectreCoin Update
07/29/2017
 What a week it's been! It's an honor to be asked by jbg to assist in the Slack channel as an Administrator. I do appreciate all the support received so far from all of you. I promise to do my best to be fair but, at the same time deal with the distracting, off topic or very vulgar things that show up here from time to time. Please keep posts in the proper channel and have a great time!

  I will keep the mop and broom handy and a warning will be given before the “ban hammer” is ever wielded.

@jbg Has advised that v1.3 has completed it's TOR update  and tested , bear in mind v1.3 is going to run on more OS platforms so all versions have to be tested. It's operation over Obsf4 is in final testing phase and it will be packaged and released in the next 72 hours.
The other code changes that required this time will make future updates much easier on the devs.

Until next week.....keep on staking!

Thanks for the first "weekly update", Beachguy! I really like this new style of communication (it was one of my suggestions  Wink), looking forward to the upcoming release which includes the OBFS4 protocol for using Spectre even in censored countries like China! JBG and you make a great team so far, while mandica takes her break.  Cool

Incredibly good news for Spectrecoin and for anonymous transactions in TOR blocked countries! This is monumental, Spectrecoin!

Is there a linux wallet for new release?  I have a linux machine working for the whole day. If I have the linux wallet, I can run on my linux machine and get stake.

On Linux you can just compile it yourself, it's not a big deal. Just clone the Git repo, all required info is inside the readme files. Having a general linux build is difficult because all distributions are technically different operating systems.

I just noticed that Shadowcash (SDC) is on the comparison chart of the main website. Perhaps remove it or add a disclaimer that the project is dead?

That's true and will be corrected.
SDC , while it started a s agood project, never finished many things, made a name change and then tried to become some kind of "market".
Never figured that one out.

@chapinmaster - the upcoming v1.3 will run on your 32 bit system, pm me your email if you would like a invite to slack .

When will be v1.3 released?

how anon is this? better than xmr?

Someone is going to have to do some deep analysis just to define "better" in this case. V 1.3 does promise in-wallet TOR OBSF4, which will make transactions anonymous in TOR blocked and heavily censored countries. No other coin has this. Commits are happening on Spectrecoin Github now. Very exciting to be on the cutting edge, but still, no one knows about this coin!!!!

It takes a lot to build but not much to lose
Oh so you are going to be able to delete the messages but not communicate when needed. Tell me one update that you guys have implemented successfully on time. I have been listening to either non-communication or hollow promises since about 3 months now. Finally I got the devs to update each week on whats going on. @jbg agreed to that and started communicating better. But if you guys are not going to deliver your promises once again we are back to square one ! I mean keep at least one promise !
