This is as I understood it.

I guess, what I'm wondering is if there is a way to know which algo truly has the highest or lowest difficulty with respect to the others.

I'm sure there is a way but I'll not pretend that I understand the differences enough to know how to calculate it.

ICO? Not even once.
Is the relationship between hashrate, difficulty and likelihood of finding a block consistent between algorithms? Seems like it must not be. It'd be nice if there was a way summarize it.

So you could look at each algo and know which one had a higher difficulty with respect to another.

Each algo has its own difficulty retarget so basically it's like each algo is like an indicidual coin.

Some algos can get slower when people stop mining it and the difficulty stays high which was the initial issue with the coin when it was single algo only but now that's not an issue anymore.

Though it could be done that if one algo haven't generated a block for a long time then its dificulty would decrease when other algos generate blocks but as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) currently each algo will only retarget their difficulty if a block was generated by that algo.

I also noticed no one is really mining Lyra2 anymore. Is this just because x17 is up and everyone moved gpus to it? Just wondering.

Hi,

We've added XVG to the miners multipool: www.zpool.ca

Cheers!

We're mining on algos scrypt and lyra2rev2 and also payout in XVG on any algo.

Cheers

We've added XVG to the myr-gr algo now.

Cheers!

We've added XVG to blake2s now.

Cheers!

Thanks for the update Crackfoo!

Excellent coin with an amazing developer but with one single major flaw.

Too many coins.

I will get a lot of hate and post might get deleted but sometimes tough love is what's needed.

most of our coins have already been produced.. we're only making something like 9 million coins a day now.

it's not made to get everyone rich right away, it's a privacy tool/currency, designed to be open to anyone.

I respect your opinion since with a lower quantity it may appear to be more scarce, therefore more valuable, but I do not believe that Verge has "too many" coins.

A bigger issue could be if there were "too few" coins, which would necessitate the need to go into the decimals to use them, which would work of course, but be less convenient.

If something costs 15 XVG, 150 XVG, 1500 XVG, or 15000 XVG, it doesn't seem that big a deal, where .00015 XVG may be.

Long term, having more coins may be a benefit when Verge's distribution increases.

It may even be psychologically advantageous since it feels kind of good to have a bunch of something, even though a lower quantity could have the same value.
I'd be in favor of removing some decimal amounts. What you say about psychological advantage is really true. 8 decimal places makes Bitcoin so unfriendly and "techy". Ending at .01 would be much easier IMHO. I'd love an update doing this.

I have linked and responded to this conversation in the price speculation thread as the topic is more relevant to be discussed over there.

new version does not work well for me..

either it stays on the old chain (  380501 blocks and low diff vs 381258 on block explorer ), even if i delete all files ( except wallet.dat ) and restart

or it is on the new chain and chrashes..

what can i do?

edit: after some restarts, it finally works..

NICE MY ANDROID WALLET IS BACK UP!!!!!!!! damn i was worried !!!

Understandable, I don't blame you but this dev has never not come through. Been following this for years. It is frustrating when you can't get to coins but you should always have your Private Key saved for any wallets with any significant number of coins.

So i have had a XVG transaction 'stuck' for about 3 days now, and i am uncertian what to do. The blockchain says the coins are there safe, so im not worried about losing them.

However i would like to see the balence updated in my wallet instead of nothing.

I am using Coinomi wallet, anyone have any ideas why it wont show up?

yep, im working on our server the android wallets connect to right now =]

edit: im actually syncing the electrum server back up right now, so hopefully android wallets will be connecting again within a few hours. ill be working until they are.

hope everyone is liking 2.1 so far =]

@Dev

IMHO, it's time to kill the IRC and use Slack exclusively.

why wouldn't i leave both open? IRC has been around for decades and can do everything slack can, plus it doesnt rely on third party software, and has more advanced privacy features..

more people use irc than slack by a long shot..  i do however, need to restart the slack/irc relay, so messages are relayed both ways again..
