I think for local currencies ripple would be much more suited.

Repeat after: BMOT. That's it, BMOT.  Wink

OTC transactions are really easy.
Only because the police isn't after them.

Police is after drugs and I can guarantee you that it's quite easy to get whatever high you crave OTC.

As molecular said: global currency dealt locally, and the sky is the limit.

So... Could we say that Bitcoin is going "glocal"?

Time to step out of the shadows and embrace legitimacy
since when Bitcoin needs legitimacy from a corrupt and rotten system ?
since the system has guns.

How will guns stop me from transacting BTC?

I have guns too.  Want me to print you one?

Theirs are bigger.
They won't stop you from transacting BTC but they will stop you from using fiat money without compliance to their ruleset. That includes trading BTC for it.

OTC transactions are really easy.
+1  (better than cripple :-) )

in the long run ripple gateways will go the way of LR.

local is the way to go. As Jörg Platzer likes to say: "A global currency with local reach."

True that. And bitcoin will eventually win the war against greedy narcissistic bankers. Bureaucracy is shit. Don't be afraid of them banksters and regulangsters, it's just like that movie v for Vendetta if we all go against what "they" say, we will win.

The funny and sad thing is that these so called anarchists and libertarians are quoting movie scripts.

The protocol will always allow us to break away from/work outside of regulation, so if it helps us gain strength for now to comply with regulations then I'm okay

Who even minds this? Certainly not legit investors. Only "crypto anarchists" and criminals. They can switch to other exchanges or go to TOR sites.

MtGox is keen to comply with everything and I see it as a good sign that the Bitcoin ecosystem will be able to evade LR's fate.

This. Legit investors dealing with more than play money at Gox needed anyhow to be "trusted", sending notarized documents + apostille. So they already HAD to comply, and the fact that Gox will make EVERYBODY comply AML regulation is just good news as it gives the big players more confidence.

Now big guys may be more eager to hop on the choo choo train.
