Time to step out of the shadows and embrace legitimacy
since when Bitcoin needs legitimacy from a corrupt and rotten system ?

Who even minds this? Certainly not legit investors. Only "crypto anarchists" and criminals. They can switch to other exchanges or go to TOR sites.

MtGox is keen to comply with everything and I see it as a good sign that the Bitcoin ecosystem will be able to evade LR's fate.

Dear Mt. Gox Customers,

In order to comply with strict anti-money laundering regulations we are now requiring account verifications for all accounts performing non-Bitcoin currency deposits and withdrawals. Please see our statement for the full explanation:

https://mtgox.com/press_release_20130530.html

Best regards,

Mt. Gox Team

This is not so bad.

I verified with MtGox this week. It took 3 days all in.

The verification queue had about 200-300 people in it when I did this.

I sent scans of my ID and some original and translated foreign language proof of residence documents on Monday and they confirmed my verification status today.

I'm very skeptical about these so called liquidity problems. Bitcoin was designed for this kind of 'attack'. Besides, there were legitimate reasons for those closes, such as failure to register with proper documentation.

Such as MTGox takes up 3 quarters of the trade volume right now, all we need is two surviving exchanges and we would not see much, if any effect.

As for the bearish trend, we appear to be near a bottoming out point on the overall increasing trend. If we see any price drop under 125 at all, I'm going to buy bitcoins by the hundreds.

Yeah this is not happening. This liquidity issue is nothing in comparison to what is happening in the hype machine in silicon valley. Expect enormous breakouts by the end of the year based on TBD companies emerging adding much more resiliency and functionality.

Then you could buy them by thousands at 12.50!  Tongue

In 2011, everyone was saying "Whoah, if it goes below $15 I'm loading the truck!"

You're still stuck in 2011? This is 2013, next year you will still be paralyzed by fear and flashbacks from 2011 when bitcoin is high above $500. Tongue

Heh, I rather firmly believe that the price will not fall below $120 anytime soon, without a truckload of FUD. I'll just take a small profit at 125 Wink

Primary, liquidity problems.

MtGox codes
Dwolla
Liberty Reserve
Okpay

Secondary, topping patterns at global stocks.

Please elaborate on why we will have a bearish breakout. There I was thinking that the price is about to rise and that we were significantly undervalued.

I thought it should be bigger, but here it is in all its glory. I think this triangle is about to complete. Odds of breakout I estimate as 70/30, bears have priority.

The line you draw showing decreasing volume -- I'm not sure if it makes much sense. The first two peaks you connect are due to large sell-offs. The third, smaller peak, is the "rally" after a long consolidation. you can see that the rally is buying volume (green bars), and was slowly increasing after a period of zero-volume.

On smaller timescales, this was a bullish indicator -- price was increasing, and with each successive period, volume was increasing too.

Then volume disappeared -- likely due to the memorial day weekend.

Anyway, let's see.
